I read an article in a magazine (something like psychology today, can't remember), where similar tests were done using fMRI scans of over 100 different mystics ranging from Tibetan Monks to Carmelite Nuns. It found that the brain areas active or inactive during a mystical experience were the same across ethnicity and religious backgrounds. Pretty damn cool.
