  • :'( Tell my father not to cry, then say "Good-bye."

  • These are just pictures of reenactments. Not very good ones. Plus what is wrong with the first guys voice?

  • All of the man (including me) are singing this at our next choir concert.

  • My school's Men's Choir sang this for our assembly. Its a beautiful song

  • I sang this with District Choir and Men's Ensemble last, and it is one of my all-time favorite men's pieces. The solo we had, the violin, the recent deaths in my family, it all brought tears to my eyes, and it still does.

  • Our choir sang this today for Veteran's Day & I got goosebumps....This song is amazing!!

  • @The1234Msed My schools choir sang it too today and i cried :'(

  • I'm singing this in choir too. this is the most moving piece I've sung.

  • this song makes me cry and we sing it in choir

  • singing this song in choir was amazing every one in the audience cried

  • How can a song as beautiful as this receive one dislike. One thing i am sure is that i strongly dislike that one person and say that he has no taste in music whatsoever.

  • @WARHEADMITCH I honestly think they did it as a joke because they thoughtd it be funny.

  • @Jacxk101 Well I'm not laughing.

  • @ScotishChristian i never said it was funny.

  • @Jacxk101 I know. I was saying that whoever does something like that and thinks it's funny but it's not. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was not implying that you thought it was funny. Sorry if you thought it was that way.

  • I loved singing this song in my choir. and i can't wait to sing it next year. my friend and i have the beggining and ending solos!

  • the first time i heard this song was at my choir concert. && at the rehersals i really never listened to it. but when i listened to it at the concert, i almost started crying :/ ever since learning about the holocaust && all that stuff, listening about death && wars is really hard to deal with.

  • I like the song, not the singer

  • I love this song.. I remember the first time i heard it. I was practicing for a state chior preformance for region all state.. :) I love this song. It first reminded me of my grandpa, so later that night when the tinners and bases sang this song, the alto and sepranos were watching them from stage, i almost started crying. I then talked to my aunt afterwards and she said it reminded her of my grandpa who recently died (Her dad) thanks for posting. :) Love this song. So touching. So true. :)

  • you know it is so sad to have seen so much loss till now and then it just breaks us all . i'm all for the cause but not the deaths of ALL THAT HAVE LOST THIER LIFE!!!!!! it's not worth it at times.. they never had a chance on both sides. now these days god is all you live for.

  • This song always makes me cry. I think it's so beautful. I'm glad that our choir directer made the boys of our choir sing it last year. It showed everyone in our school the fierce heartbreak of war, and how much our soilders go through just to keep our country safe.

  • I'll simply say, that as a Veteran, this song speaks volumes.

  • I'll simply say, that as a Veteran, this song speaks volumes.

  • tells the story of war this song makes me cry so flippin hard ppl giving thee lives for us

  • fuck the blue, the grey is where its at

  • This is the song we sang for the boy in my choir who died in a car accident- get's me every time!

  • Seckman rocked it.

  • I watched a group of six young men sing selections of songs from "Civil War" last year. When they sang this song, I watched as every person in that room teared up, many of whom were grown men. It's truely powerful to watch young men (such as high schoolers) perform this with so much emotion, and to remember that the boys in the Civil War were not much older, if older, than those singing. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece.

  • We sang this in choir.. i loovee this song..

  • i love this song!! i tear up every time i hear it!! the boys choir at our school is signing this song and they sang it to us today!! ahhh gorgeous!!

  • Is it possible for you to put the lyrics in the info bar?

  • @Limazulu85 DID YOU NOT SEE WHY THIS SONG WAS MADE

  • @Limazulu85 FFFFUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKK UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • @silent596 Whats the matter...YYou gggot a sspeech impedimmment? Mr. Ssstutters????

  • @Limazulu85 Actually, they were trying to get the point across, since obviously nothing else is pentrating your thick and ugly skull. Why don't you go insult someone who cares?

  • @Limazulu85 DO YOU KNOW WHY THIS SONG IS ABOUT?

  • @Limazulu85 this song is a great tribute to some of the greatest people who have ever graced this country @Limazulu85

  • @Limazulu85 as much as you may not have put it nicely...im gonna have to agree it is a rather slow song it needs to pick up a bit great tune though..lyrics are strong

  • @lagudes3 You do realize that the soldier singing is dying. Think he would be singing a fast song?

  • @Limazulu85 This piece is a dying boy telling his father that he loves him and that he'll always be proud. It is so touching. It makes me truely sad that you do not realize the emotion and reverence in this song. The boys that died in the Civil War were between 14-18, many younger than that even. Please reflect on the meaning of the song and its message next time before you say something.

  • this song is amazing my chorus class in school in singing it and it gets me emotional inside i feel like i wanna cry

  • the men are singing this in my college chorus this year...I cry every time they sing it so sad

  • great song

  • John Barrowman's version is a thousand times better than this guy!

  • so agree

  • you dont know what your talkin about

  • hes words are too swallowed

  • yes i obviously do seeing as im a voice major at a university right now. if you are unable to think critically then perhaps you should just keep your mouth shut instead of giving false hope to people without talent.

  • i like this so much we are singing it in choir

  • @mrchinexican Me too!!!

  • If bu wanna have this song i highly suggesting searching out John Barrowman's version. It's much better in my honest opinion, more stronger and beautiful voice, this fella seems a bit strained but Barrowman sings it really well

  • this song is amazing! thanks for putting it up? Who is singing it? it's great!

  • Singer is Kevin Sharp. It's from the Broadway musical The Civil War by Frank Wildhorn (of Scarlett Pimpernel, Jekyll & Hyde etc). Many of the song lyrics in the CD are actually based on or directly taken from old Civil War era letters/speeches/diaries of those who lived & died in that war. Also has brief excerpts of famous historical speeches. These poignant sentiments are sadly, still very much relevant considering the endless wars humanity is engaged in all around the world. Great CD.

  • Wow. No other way to describe this. Wow. There is such power in this song. I cry every time i hear it.

  • I absolutely love this song. Its so beautiful. I do a lot of Civil War Reenactments as a Southern Bell. I've seen a lot of battles even though they are fake, it makes me cry. No one should fight like that. If we could get along with each other, we wouldn't have such a thing as the Civil War and the war in Irac (which one of my uncles might be sent out there soon.) But none the less, this is a gorgeous song with touching words and a good story behind it. Good work to whoever made this video.

  • how sad i cry every time i list to this beautiful song. it touches my heart.

  • To be fair i've done some historical events and the skirmishes/battles are so quick and fast paced (maybe)half those guys who died wouldent have known what hit them. I've been to Antietam and Gettysburg and made a video on here..same places as in the origional photos..no bodies now

  • this song makes me cry evertime i hear it. it's very beautiful.

  • i go to an arts school where we have recital every friday. Yesterday one of my friends sang this & i couldn`t stop crying. It`s a very powerful song.

  • Tell him how I wore the blue, proud and true, through the fire. Tell my father so he'll know I love him so. Tell him how I wore the blue, proud and true, like he taught me. Tell my father not to cry, then say goodbye.

  • Thank you!

  • Tell my father that his son didn't run or surrender. That I bore his name with pride as I try to remember you are judged by what you do while passing through. As I rest 'neath fields of green let him lean on your shoulder. Tell him how I spent my youth so the truth could grow older. Tell my father when you can I was a man. Tell him we will meet again where the angels learn to fly. Tell him we will meet as men for with honor did I die.

  • I saw the show this is from, Civil War: A Musical. It was the most amazing musical I have ever to seen.

  • Thank you for this is touched me.
