  • Regardless, I do miss the original. The new stuff, tried to watch and just had to turn the feldercarb off.

  • ??? Should have at least done a voice over to give some idea of a story.

  • Who Remembers the 2 Part Original Episode from 1978 that Dealt with the Discovery of a Second Battlestar that had been Thought Long Destroyed in Battle Years Before. It's Commander was a Military Genius. They opened the Door for his Return as the Story let him Go out in a Blast of Fire and Smoke as he attacked a Fleet of Cylons On his Own. His Ship was being Sacrificed to save the Galactica and her Fleet. He was like General Patton in Space.

  • Fantastic work! Well done and hope work resumes soon.

  • The one thing I have always waited to see and hope to see is This ship the 1978 Galactica, reach to a planet and begin for landfall as it passes through the planet's atmosphere heating up, and then you see from the land as the camera looks up and you see the Galactica flying through the sky as it begins it's descent to the ground and land...I don't care what planet it is...even if it is Earth, but I have always WANTED to see that...either on youtube or on television...perhaps one day!! :)

  • whats the website for this??

  • Not bad. Good CGI and the location shots were even better.

  • Borderline plagarism? All of these so-called "fan films" are plagarism.

  • @pford2003 Um...No. Plagiarism would be if they said it was their own original idea. This is acknowledged as BSG which was thought of by someone else; this is just an adaptation of that work.

  • @pford2003 I HIGHLY DISAGREE! Fans are people who care about the original works... We express ourselves by saluting the original work by our own vids, that highlight specifics of the original works that we favorite and want to emphasize, also by our own adaptations that our own minds have created that we would like to share with others... We show that someone still cares about a 20+year old series. The only people who benifit financially is the original creators as we promote their work...

  • Wonderful!

  • th re imagined is MUCH better...but thats my opinion

  • How do you know it isn't Buck Rogers piloting that shuttle?

  • Very nice indeed. The re-imagined series lost its nobility and the people (especially the male characters) were so over the top flawed that they lost their humanity.

  • @TalkerOne didnt help that most of the main characters ended up literally not being human oO

  • I'm sure you'll all enjoy the movie thats to be coming out then... not having anything to do with the re imagined series mind you.

  • excellent animation!

  • You know what? i admire any sci-fi show from back then that was able to actually make it on the air without the benefit of havinga SCI-fI CHANNEL TO BACK IT UP. The new show had planty of money thrown at it AND an original show to build on. I would have prefered to see a modern day continuation of the original. And from what I understand, the original was only cancelled cause it was so expensive NOT cause the ratings sucked.

  • It was cause the Ratings and Cost. The Cost was not equal to the ratings.

The New Battlestar is not a Sci Fi Original it airs on the British Brodcast Channel Bravo. It was not to be aired in the US till Sci Fi bought Licensing Rights from Bravo.

  • That was ture about the original. Second season scripts had been written. ABC pulled the plug because of the cost. They recycled one of the scripts for Galactica 1980, the one with Starbuck being marooned with a Cylon. Of course in the original he was rescued.

  • Both serieses were great. But they are both different types of shows.

  • the teacher was a funny thing, and the cylons looked great, but making Starbuck a female IS HERESY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    rly,its a stupid idea

if they wouldve put Casiopea in the new BSG,then they wouldve made her a male,or make them lesbians, but instead they just put some crap and shit

  • yeah there were some strange episodes with all women infantry, what the hell, you'd think with the human race disappearing people would be humping left and right...second the music was better in the original...but I still love the new one for its own reasons.

  • Oh man you got to be kidding. You couldn't detect good story or acting if it came to your house and had sex with your mom.

  • That was some pure class stuff!!.

Wonder what software was used to put all that together?.

  • a game, a camera, an actor, a song and a video editor.. that's all

  • why the thumbs down? the old cylons, cylon ships and galactica itself looked more believable that the new stuff. it's no secret that typical hollywood revamped stuff is overthetop and commercial, lacking passion/style of original. whether its star wars, star trek etc.

  • I agree. While the new version was interesting in it's own right, I'm more nostalgic for the original version. The anthropoidal (human shaped) Cylons in the remake, look very much borrowed from the Terminator movies. The visuals for the original series were great when you consider the limited technology of the late 1970's. This is just my opinion though.

  • I think the Battlestars in the original series look much better than then reimagined version.

  • i aggree with you

i thyink the new BSG thay changed to much

  • very good, remains me of V when the ships first came

  • I'm torn. I loved the original, even if it was a Star Wars rip - off with bits of Lost in Space & Star Trek in but the re - imagined version is a lot more realistic & " gritty " in tone, a la Babylon 5. There's more meat on its bones. The Original wasn't realistic enough.

  • THANK you.

  • The original is/ was a SHAMELESS rip - off of Star Wars, as were a score of other tv shows & movies back in the day, with other elements tossed into the stew, but I still had a special place in my heart/ gut / guderim for it. The re - imagined BSG is darker in tone, but more 3 - dimensional in many ways. No cute kids or robots, either, like B5.

  • Looks OK to me....

  • this is crap. I'm sorry, but there's nothing here but a handful of special effects shots of spaceships flying. This is stupid. Apparently this story has no plot. Or characters. Maybe some extras who walk around the screen, in the middle of the film...

    Sorry. Needs some work, guys.

  • Beggars can't be choosers.

    How's that script coming?

  • Comment removed

  • ...and Simon Cowell is a jerk.

  • Like every other fan film, these guys do this stuff for free. Looks pretty good from what I can see. These things don't come together overnight.

  • If it was a teaser, as a preview of this length would rightly be called, it WOULDN'T tell the audience much about the plot or characters. That doesn't make it crap.

  • I wish they had continued with this style and cast. The new BG was/is good but too gritty. I like a bit of old fashioned fantasy and pure entertainment rather than a bleak depressing realistic view. Bring on more of 'The 14th Colony'

  • And?...

  • Thats because the original sucked more than it ever possibly could.

  • LOL COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

  • New BSG series is so much better than the original in my personal opinion, its got better acting for a start and I love the idea of having Cylon agents that look human, it adds so much depth to the series with regards to the storyline.

  • I don't get it. Reminds me of high school AV club. No sign of a story, almost no original footage. It looks more like a tribute to previous works, rather thank a fan film. Borderline plagarism.

  • All the footage is new CGI and location shots.

  • @MoistCloneHunter Wow! Great job! haha! I am at the time of this writing, viewing the original two-hour pilot of BSG on TV. Memories! Had not watched it in decades! Great job and as for RocketRevenges comment? I'd like to see what that over-opinionated trolling attention whore can come up with! Haha! Great fan film, man!

  • I was recently at the film web site, the production has been paused till the director a military guy gets back from over seas in two months.

  • @MoistCloneHunter The Website for this has been down almost a year now comes up with 403 errors. I sure hope it is not abandoned.. :(

  • Is there more... somewhere? You used the word "epic" in your discription yet you only have footage laststing less than too minutes showing nothin but effects shots!

I hope you can come up with something more.

  • what the fuck?

  • Superb! Much MUCH more enticing and interesting than the "Ronald D Moore' Dross that passes as the new BSG

  • Just a tip: In the real world, there's no such thing as a "preproduction" trailer. Preproduction happens before filming or postproduction. In other words, it involves oranizing, writing, casting, etc.

  • I want to see the whole fan movie. PLEASE! your trailer is so teasing!

  • I'd like to see fan films based in the Galactica universe. There are over a dozen trek fan film companies making shows.

  • Very good SFX. Looking forward to the full movie.

  • the version is good, but the old one is the one igrew up with so to me its still the best, and yes they did make it to earth there a movie length eposide of it

  • hello and what happend after that?I searched for this info a lot of years....but i didnt find nothing.

  • it been a long time, the title had a other name other than battle star, but they got to earth a couple people went down to check it out, the comander decided something like earth would not be ready for the kind of advancement, this was during earths time in the late 70s early 80s period i think

  • very cool vid!

  • Where did you get these soundtracks? On which CD are these tracks, especially the second track available?

  • I was back at the film's web site and although probelems have slowed things down they say its still on.

  • I like the older Show...

The new one is great too, but see Cpt Starbuck as a Chick!!

Oh Lord... Too Much Girl Power for my Taste

  • Blah blah blah... I like both. Characters in the new series are better as are the storeies.

One thing I don't like about the new series is the whole political democracy bit. I mean come on 50K humans and all the infighting. We're really fracked if we resort to selfish me first democracy in times of species annihilation. Oh and why would 50K people require so many reporters/journalists. The whole cloud nine morning show was lame. Aside from that the core storyline is more riveting than org.

  • I lived in a city of 50k, and you wouldn't believe the political drama that happened there.

But they should have made it more like 300K, and then let the cylons kill a lot more of them off. it would have made for a more exciting show.

  • Those whacky Mormons!

  • A 14TH colony? What's it called?

  • uuh..earth?

  • Earth is the "13th" colony. Don't you watch the show?

  • Why do people on the internet love to argue about their opinions so much?

  • It almost seems as if they departed EARTH not Caprica...note that Cancer is still a killer illness or that there are far too many social personal pronblems that a developed humankind would have solved with science and more spirituality. The Sci Fi trademarks of advanced culture. That robs the series some of the mystique of the old BSG....maybe when they reach Earth they will find that THEY are retro primitives and Earth is far more advanced

  • Considering that they found those satellites making the Cylons sick and they looked crazy old, it's possible that Earth is far more advanced than we are currently.

  • The new series are amazing! Ok, it's not the original, but apart from a very nostalgic feeling, they didn't really were that good, were they? The reboot is just really good tv!

  • I still think it is rubbish.

  • The new series are crap. It is far behind the original one. The woman starbuck, the cylons, the plots are all fakes. Even the clothes they wear. They are killing the beautiful and only original BSG 1978.

  • But at least the Basestars look better!

  • I thought that they were trying to find the 13th colony.

  • Yes you are right earth is the 13th colony, but they were toying with the idea that not all the 13 colony that left Kobold reached Earth. Some broke away and started another colony on the way to earth Hense the 14th colony.

  • muy bueno!!!, very good!!! from a BSG fan Lima Peru

  • Did your house collapse?

  • not i am from Lima, the earthquake is in ica city, 200 kilometers of distance

  • wtf the star wars music in bsg this is just a crap

  • Uh, how old are you? That IS the Battlestar Galactica theme from the original 70's series.

  • You know, I like them both. If they make one based on the original series, then Gods dammit, let them do it!

I'm behind ya all the way, ya hear me?!?

  • awesome tribute to the original series, and I always preferred the original theme, with its majestic fanfare.

  • what the frak...that was fantastic, as a huge fan of the original i was well impressed

  • There are some very closed minded people posting here, all for the sake of a TV show, its saddens me.

  • Amazing trailer. And the CGI model of the Galactica is the best one i have seen on the 'net for an original series colonial battlestar

  • Can you say CHEESE?

  • Great stuff. The scene on Kobol captures the epic feel of the old show. Something the new BSG is sorely lacking. When they visited Kobol it looked they filmed it in some backyard.

  • Just 3 minutes of this trailer is far superior to 3 seasons of that mess of a remake. I wish the guys all the best with the 14th Colony. I just hope they make the Cylons reptillian (as they were in the Pilot movie, and in Richard Hatch's continuation books). I also hope they show more of the Imperious Leader. I also the guys making this movie have read Robert Thurston's novel of the BSG pilot as well as Hatch's BSG books for inspiration.

  • The new show is sh*t. Nothing more than an overblown pile of needless drama garbage.Cylons disguised as humans(Blade Runner anyone?)Female human cylons giving handjobs..oooh, real good family entertainment. The Original series does not have to answer for itself. It was a show made for fun and sci fi cause that was the rage in the mid/late 70s.It never took itself too seriously and was a lot of fun to watch!Even the 1980 show!!

  • The Orignal series was a MESS! The new show rules in just writing alone. I'll say what you have done here is VERY impressive...BUT...I hope you can plan to better where it counts and that it's not just more eye candy...They tryed that back in '78 already.

  • This 1 and a half minute trailer is far superior to any of the new reenvisioned BSG crap.

  • I drink to that one my friend well said! The only good thing is the Cylon babe as would Austin Powers would say' Yeah baby very shagadelic'.

  • LOL. You obviously have no idea WTF you're talking about. I work in the entertainment industry as a 3D artist and the 3D in that trailer, while a good effort, is no where near the 3D skill of the artists who worked on the effects for the new BSG I even know one of them. Do some homework on the subject before you go and make completely ignorant remarks like that.

  • I don't know if I entirely agree with that. On a television production like BSG, there are whole teams of people working on the effects. You have several people working just on modeling, rendering, lighting, compositing, visual effects, quality checkers, etc., etc. Not saying they aren't talented, but to denegrade the efforts here simply because they don't match the quality isn't exactly fair. You have to take into account the different scenarios

  • I'm not saying it's bad. There is some talent in the CG for this movie. But I am just a critical person and I'm around extremely talented guys and work in production pipelines that result in excellent 3D animation. I don't know what kind of pipeline they set up for this movie, the models are nice, but the rendering and lighting leaves something to be desired in my opinion.

  • Ok, I appologize, I think I didn't make my point. Its a completely different scenario. You have whole teams of individuals who do this for a living. Take 4 or 5 f them, give them a shoestring budget, cut their experience in half, then compare before you can fairly critisize.

  • What the hell are you talking about? This is a fanfilm not a cable-TV production that has sponsorship and DVD distribution like that awful Remake. Of course the CGI is going to be better in the Remake but who cares. This Fan-film is going to be far more entertaining that the "WestWing-Commander" joke of a TV series. Besides all the sets, props & costumes in the Remake are cheap-looking anyway. They can't even afford a camera tripod judging by the way it's filmed.

  • They are using a tripod when needed. It's just their style of filming... =)

Awesome fan-movie! =) Hope to see it!

  • zgjfslkdfs

Are you SERIOUS? The new series kicks the ASS out of the old one in almost every way! Gone is campy lameness and in its place is an extremely intelligent well written and brilliantly acted television series. While the old one has its sentimental and nostalgic value, it pales in comparison to the gritty reality of the characters in the modern incarnation.

  • Gritty TV? The Remake (Or Melrose Space as it should be called) is nothing but tired soap opera dynamics mixed with bland sexual situations. The characters seem to be more interested in their petty squabbles and giving into their sexual urges rather than saving humanity from extinction. You thought "Colonial Day" and "Tigh Me/Tigh Me down" weren't cheesy? WestWing-Commander only has 1.5 million viewers, it's simply "niche TV" which pales next to the success of the Original series.

  • You're absolutely right! The original BSG had such enormous appeal that it lasted for ONE WHOLE SEASON! You know, only a mass success like that could muster up a gigantic episode count of twenty-two. On the other hand that tiny little "niche" re-vamp of BSG has only been on the air for three seasons and has more than double the episodes. You know what I miss about the original though? The little robot monkey ewok guy. Man if only the re-vamp could have his little robot ass back.

  • By the way, the fan film trailer looks great!

  • The Original Pilot gained 70 million viewers. The Pilot was also released theatrically and was very successful. The weekly TV series was in the top 20 shows of 1978. The original spawned a sequel (G-80) which was very successful for a brief time. No matter how many "seasons" this "niche-TV" show spawns it will still only gain 1.5 mil viewers. It's the viewing figures that makes a series success, and not the number of episodes made. The "robot monkey ewok guy" is in the Remake, he plays Adama !

  • Touché on the Adama crack. Again, if it was so successful, why was it cancelled after only one season and BSG 1980 a dismal failure? The fact is that the new show has received rave critical reviews including being TIME magazine's best show of the year. The original show's reviews were crap and despite their one million dollar an episode budget reused the same tired special effects over and over. Bad acting and campy storytelling can't beat the true craftsmanship of the new series.

  • If the original was a failure then why was it re-made at all? It was about to continued by Tom DeSanto til Sci-fi came up with Moore-Ron's cheapo remake. If the Remake is a sign of craftmanship then why did it need to rely on BSG's brand-name. It should've been able to stand by itself. The few OK Remake episodes are direct remakes of superior original episodes. These critical raves you speak of are more down to the "Bush-bashing" metaphor of the show rather than it's "craftmanship"

  • Part 2 of reply: The reason why the original had to recycle space battles was due to time & budget constraints. I prefer recycled space battles to the Remake's policy of NOT HAVING ANY BATTLES AT ALL. Just filler episodes of talking heads spewing Anti-Bush propaganda & cod-philosophies to please the

journalistic hacks, along with the odd flash of womens legs to titillate the male "niche" audience of 1.5 mil. When it is canceled, its not going to get resurrected again by such a small fanbase.

  • That's funny, I don't seem to remember anybody mentioning him. If anything, it's a retelling of the holocaust. Which happened before Bush was in any position to do anything about it.

  • The critics of the show has deciphered this. It's done in michaevellian style. The Bush administration is represented by Adama. Roslin is basically a democrat, the Cylons are Al-Qaeda which explains the series tagline

"Don't create what you can't control". Al-qaeda were funded and armed by the Americans to fight the Soviets during the Afghan invasion in the 80's. Adama is always made to look wrong, or corrected by Roslin, etc.

"WestWing-Commander" is an awfully cheap political-parable.

  • Alternatively, Rosilin and Adama are different aspects of the Bush administration. They wrestled with each other and made tough choices like Bush had to when he decided to put US soldiers in harms way in Iraq in order to save people at home, while the treacherous and self serving Baltar is the Democrats, who are always preaching compromise and surrender with a merciless enemy who wants to destroy you and your way of life. Looking at it this way, its very pro Bush.

  • You can't really compare viewing figures from a series released when there were about 20 channel, to a time when viewers can get 500+ on cable. The more channels there are, the more dilute the viewing figures for individual programs are going to be. This is why you need to count viewing as a percentage of a demographic, not of the population.

  • Most of the programmes on these 500+ cable channels are either repeats of old shows, reality shows or phone-in quiz shows. There are not many original TV shows. And these shows (like remake-BSG) are the only ones that get promoted on TV. Also the Internet helps hype up the show among fans & newcomers in between the weekly episodes. Despite this the Remake still only garners 1.5 million whereas Lost, 24 & Sopranos garner many millions.

  • Lost is made for a wider audience, so it will get a more numbers in. However, total audience figures are only really meaningful when selling advertising. You can get a big audience by putting a woman big breasts on the adverts, but if 50% of viewers are angry conservatives watching so that they can write complaint letters to the network, and 50% are actual interested viewers, then your show is still a flop, even though it got X million viewers. Its % of your target audience that matters.

  • "'West Wing--Commander' joke of a series?" The Sci-Fi channel series may have its down points but sails above the dismally embarrassing wackiness of BSG 1980. I would recommend you put away your original series snobbery and start enjoying the best television series currently on the air.

  • Never say never, Tom DeSanto might make a continuation, all it takes is money. yeah the plump Stardoe is awful

  • NIce effort, great attention to detail. Now how about a trailer showing Lloyd Bridges leading Pegasus against the current Galactica nightmare. Once Edward J. Olmos and that annoying Katie Sakaloff are dispatched, Pegasus can incinerate SCi-Fi channel execs. Yes..I know Bridges is gone.

  • Thank you!! I thought I was the only one with enough sense to think that the current show SUCKS!

  • As long as it's not "Galactica 1980" all over again, I'd rather cut my own throat than endure a repeat of that...

  • No it won't be Galactica1980...I still try not to think about it.

  • The original score was the best whereas the new one sucks bad. Great little trailer and a job well done.

  • Actually the original score is still in the new series dumbass, it's played in the miniseries and is used quite frequently on the soundtrack.

Not to mention it's the "colonial anthem". Jeez do some research!

  • My mistake but don't call me dumbass since I did not insult you okay?!

  • The music was written by Glen Larson, the creator of the original Battlestar Galactica series!!!

  • NoobsKiller, the music is the original Stu Phillips score.

Smokeonit, the message of this trailer is that a Battlestar Galactica fan film based on the original series in currently in pre-production.

Evilseed, glad you like what little you have seen so far. The FX team is doing some really great work.

Turnback, more trailers are to come and over time more about the story will come out.

    Treylon, thanks.

  • I still believe!

  • Great trailer, but it doesn't give us any idea what the story is.

  • Awesome trailer!

The effects look really good for the Galactica and other Battlestars!

Excellent work guys, shame they'll never make a continuation of the original series like this.

  • Never say never, Tom DeSanto might make a continuation, all it takes is money

  • The project of Reichard Hatch was excellent! You can see Baltar for the last time!

  • whats the message of this trailer???

  • hmmmmm

  • i guess the music of the trailer was made by john williams

  • John Williams? Try Stu Phillips.

  • who said this was john williams?
