Nope, I don't train a lot, its just a matter of fact that I get this "exp boost" as I traded it over to my Pokémon Platinum to level up. Different trainer training the Pokémon will result in faster leveling up.

not really, this guy just trained like fuck to make it easier. by the time you get to bugsy your pokemon will be around the same lvl

Well I would think that the one of the people would be 20-22. Level 17 is kinda low for the 2nd gym well thats what I think. Also I don't think thats called "trained like fuck". In Pokemon Blue the highs Pokemon in the 2nd gym is level 21 and hes only level 22 =/.
