  • You're all talking bollox. Its a good track, thats all. Thanks Stranglers.

  • This song shows what happens so many times to a young, easily influenced teenage girl. First she's just a normal, casual dressed girl. She finds a boyfriend who turns her into a goth, but it caused problems for her so she ended up going punk. Very true to reality.

  • @ThatIrishSOB yeah the song is about a girl becoming goth and because that caused her problems somehow she became punk and that obviously solved all her problems even though she looked exactly the same except her hair. Seriously? I hope you are joking because that would be a stupid meaning actually for anything ... not even the video is about that ...

  • @ifuckluke do you live under a rock or something? Shit like this happens all the time. Why you say the video isn't about that, actually pay attention to the lyrics and the video. It didn't solve all her problems, she wanted to join a group where she could feel accepted, most likely because she had bad parents, she joined the goth group but she ended up getting involved with the police, so she joined the punk group and at the end you can see her walking with the group like she is accepted.

  • @ThatIrishSOB first of all I would like to say that how you explained it now makes more sense because in the first comment you described it very shallow in my opinion... so that's for the video (even though it would be hard to determine if the girl is goth or not because in the video the fashions are not all that different but this is very subjective and it does not matter)

  • @ifuckluke and the lyrics are about her leaving for what she thought was a better life and not getting what she expected and so on. I misunderstood you because you added a lot of your own story which is perfectly ok because we can't actually say why she left, why she got involved with the police and what subculture she belonged to. Again this is subjective. Hope I didn't make you angry because I didn't want to argue, only have a nice debate. I hope you have seen it as such as well. :D

  • Who was the girl in the video?

  • It has been a wonderful life, but enjoy what you've got...... - I was very lucky that I was there, there is always music to enjoy, sometimes you just have to look and hear a bit further......it is not that different to the rebellion of the mid-seventies....Stranglers were wonderful, as were a lot of bands......

  • Oh I wish I'd live in those times! :(

  • @missVeronaGD It was good....but..... Enjoy what you've got lass :-)

  • ENGLAND IS LOOKING LOVLEY FROM THIS CLIP

  • oh, Cyndi Lauper!

  • I'd love to see those amazing London punks now. Took me right back. They'd all be in their 50's now. Time flies eh. :o/

  • Who needs the Clash and the Sex Pistols when we have The Stranglers?

  • @Uniflux evybody ? :D

  • This video was shot at Occupy Wall Street

  • Nowadays we call them lesbians

  • @benyboi2k8round here we call them left footers, or carpet munchers

  • My um used to have hair like that...... but in blue ! It looks good lol ;) love the stranglers

  • great song!!!and the girls in the vid looking better and more sexy than all the shitty beyonces, katy perrys, britneys, gagas and rihannas together!!!good music, good video-nuff more said!!!they are one of many heroes in the 80´s!!!!

  • This song was way before it's time.

  • This was what England was about back then. Individualality. Good music. Now its not like that anymore.

  • @chezzeeX you right ....now we goin down the u bend...

  • A beutiful melody, a deep rich voice and a gentle video all seem to mask the darkness of the lyrics.

  • Average girl --> goth --> punk. Interesting transformation.

  • I've been enthralled by this song. It's just captivating.

  • Punk was so much better then. I hate all thsee tattoo's now, they're crap, especially on all thse fat girls. The punk look was always about change. . . . you can't change all those Tattos. Its like they're all copying instead of being themselves... Great Song, plus the girl was Gorgeous :D

  • @psychodamned good point, and yes a great song, and yes again that girl is definitely gorgeous! she makes a good punk because shes beautiful even with her punk look, not to be nasty but most of her pals are mingers lol!

  • @psychodamned she has such beautiful eyes, and its funny to see her transtition from average looking girl to kinda goth looking girl, then she ultimately goes punk

  • @psychodamned what are you talking about lol? all these girls lookded exactly the same.

  • @psychodamned

Actually punk is about doing whatever the fuck you want. Regardless of how people like you feel about it.

  • I wish I had been alive and living in the UK during the 70s.

  • Hugh Cornwell come back!

  • the name of the woman of the video its Lisa Molinaro....

  • You know I wonder how many of those girls are living in the posh ends now and are yuppies?

  • 1.33 hazel o'connor doesnt she look hot in this

  • @twin40worty it's Jane Kahn on 1.33

  • A total shot in the dark but I'll have a guess. The station roof suggests Paddington but it could be Liverpool's Lime Street.

  • @kappucinokid I reckon it's a dead ringer for London Fenchurch Street.

  • As great as this song is, I have always thought it just wasn't Stranglers-esque? Made in 1982, it was the end of a transition between their punk era and the cross-over into new-wave. Anyone know what the train station is at the beginning? I have a guess that is may be Paddington.

  • What's the name of the beautiful girl?

  • @superhipercarlos

    @superhipercarlos

I don't know her full name, she was part of the London punk scene around the time the single was released. She was known as "Spanish Lisa" - killyourpetpuppy.co.uk/news/?p=580

  • @superhipercarlos "Strange Little Girl"?

  • @OlympiaMusicTV yeah... I wish to know her full name. By the way, thanks @SYS64738SYS64738 for the info of "Spanish Lisa"

  • @superhipercarlos

Bah the link I provided doesn't work properly. Search Google using the following string - "Stranglers – Strange Little Girl Video 1982 – KYPP connection" and that should give you the relevant entry on the killyourpetpuppy website.

  • OK so there is the beatles and there is the stranglers and there is heaven.

  • TUNE

  • Ads, ads, ads. Fuck ads. If you wanna make a comment, talk about the great music.

  • In the land of Pixies

  • Spotted a couple in 85 when I visited King's Rowe. Bought the best creepers ever there. The girls all laughed and called me Teddy Boy.

  • Look! No fucking Chavs! Oh to go back to those days!

  • @jpx08 but there was teddy boys.

  • @BeanHeadStudios LOL so true.

  • i actually prefer videos with ads. that way i can see what the marketplace has to offer

  • @nilbog44 I know right, i mean i would legit PAY for ads!

  • @RealRacer69 i agree. in fact i'm sending youtube my next paycheck with a letter demanding more ads on every single video thats posted. i hope you pitch in too. lets do this

    Tired of ads.

  • I never really go for English chicks because wiedo skinned woman a bloody brilliant but I do have a special dispensation I fancy her clause for Gothic chicks, Rock chicks, and that block of wood, yes the strange unusual melancholy type are what I think are the best type of woman. subject to beauty obviously because I am shallow.

  • @63AIONSON Come back when you can SPEAK English, dear.

  • @63AIONSON That made little to no sense. More towards the no sense.

  • Not for Americans, there is not a possible way for them to relate,i lived it,I was there mate ! First it would take ten years or more to explain the origin of punk to the wankers and i just dont have that much time to waste on the mindless.Brilliant Video of the times, sad its all gone.

  • boycott coke, mcdicks, walmart... that is a good start. Change you can believe.

  • Wish I was born earlier so I could of seen them with Hugh instead of Baz, but they are still epic, seen them twice :D, I love having a punk dad ;)

  • where is she going? and why did she do that to her hair :( lol

  • @EECIEI She's going down the Kings Road to ponce off the passing tourists with the others! lol Posing for photographs off the tourists was a nice little earner back in those days, don't know about these days, I'm an old bloke now. I spotted one or two faces from down the Kings Road in that video. They'll all be old women now. lol

  • A Truly gifted band , and I managed to see them at the Round House Camden lock , they were my prefered band from all of the other sn, and they still stand the test of time with thier original tunes.

  • @zugrook101 "Strange Little Girl" is strange little gorgeous.

  • I always loved the Stranglers especially the songs Golden Brown and Always the Sun, but I I never heard this one. And like Motown's owner Barry Gordy said when asked if he like the Temptations audition he said, "No I didn't like it. I loved it." Peace.

  • @highschoolmusical841 Ha! I buy most of my clothes in charity shops.. Except for shoes and underwear (unless they are unworn) Really decent quality stuff in charity shops for the price of poor quality clothes in chain stores!!

  • Classic song & video. Thanks for posting up.

  • Does anyone know what film had this song in???

  • my fav Stranglers song. Too bad it's so short.

  • SLH THE BEGINING OR THE END?

  • still a great song 1st band I so live 1978 with AC/DC and the WHO

  • This guy looks like Till Lindemann from Ramms+ein :P

  • Tori Amos....I know this song was written by others, but when I heard this while browsing in the CD section of a bookstore, my age seemed meaningless and my love for quirky and unusual music overtook me completely. One of my all time favorite songs, and I love many, MANY songs.

  • if ya going to dobells ya just walked past it

  • Look at all those beautiful girls.

  • Yeah that little chick was cute with her wild Siouxsie Sioux hair. Why would she feel the need to shave it off? I find it ironic that the video* is clearly about being yourself and being non-conformist, but the parade of freakish punk chicks at the end actually seemed to gain-say its own message: "Sure, let's all be non-conformists by adopting the same style and walking about in a mob!" *I doubt this was the actual message of the song.

  • @jackkoffin1 MAYBE ITS BECAUSE THATS WHAT EVERyone expects girls to have long nice hair. her shaving it off is non conformist. thast what the song means anyway. i actually like ehr with the mohawk better

  • @oblongfan1 Yeah, you tell yourself that.

  • Luck of the draw. Bruce Springsteen Live From Asbury Park's advertised under the video right now. Yes now I will watch Springsteen.

  • I wish I could be re-winded back in time.

I dress like I'm from this time. and I was born in the 90's.... music now is crap compared to this. I'm not part of my generation. I love the Stranglers.... and one of very few teens who absoultley love them and this time. (I have a sex pistols poster hanging up in my room :P )

  • @MissBeachBabe55 Liking this era is SO something from this generation. You may listen to music that's not in the current top 40 but that is something from every era. Believing you don't fit in with the generation is part of this generation, I think. You're part of it because you were born when you were born and you pick up the habits of this day. See, you've got a youtube account with which you comment. Welcome to your own generation. I'm part of it, too. (Y)

  • @CherrySprings Ok..... that was....different. You like picked apart my comment and criticised......

are you a Physiologist or something?

  • @CherrySprings wow, CherrySprings, never actually thought of it... i'm a part of this generation too and i'd love to live back in the 70s or 80s but so do lots of us, born in the 90s... maybe believing you don't fit is a part of it...

anyway, we're not and will never be able to live in the 70s or 80s, so just enjoy your lives in the 2000s and keep the spirit of the good music alive ^^

  • Good music never dies....there's still enough good music left, its just harder to find because of the shit load of crappy hyped up mainstream music....same for good people, there still here you just have to reconise them :)

  • but im there with thirakaulitz, either we gotta go or stay and fight...

  • governments craft their children, not times nor parents

  • In the beginning of the video she reminded me of siouxsie sioux of siouxsie and the banshees. :D damn I wish I was a teenager in the '70/'80's :(

  • I get 45 seconds into the song... and YouTube starts to play an ad.... seriously.... I wish people could be more organized and just boycott companies until they cave in....

  • @HansSchroif What can we do, man? The bastards are experts in human psychology. People are so fukkin WEAK.

  • @HansSchroif careful, nexy minute people may think you are some kind of anarchist or communist

  • @HansSchroif Google bought youtube

  • @HansSchroif Or, get ad block.

  • @HansSchroif then find a different video. no one is forcing you to watch this. ads are why youtube is free.

  • @HansSchroif

And then there are the hundreds of audio files & channels that were deleted just so that Vevo could accomplish what exactly?

  • @HansSchroif use an adblocker, don't make yourself a victim.

  • @HansSchroif I boycotted the ad companies long ago by using Ad Blocker. More and more uses some kind of ad blocker nowadays, and the ad companies don't get the drift, so they ad more ads in the hopes that those who don't use it will click them >.<

To the ad companies andweb developers: Go back to banners, you don't get more customers by being obnoxious.

  • fuck greenday

  • @oblongfan1

    Amen to that!

  • @powrxplor69 :D

  • Great Song. Great Video. Be who you want to be. Don't be a sheeple. Who cares if those barbie dolls stare at you? They're just plastic puppets after all. I still shave my head and dye patterns into it, and get positive remarks from people off all ages and walks of life. It's how you carry yourself, treat others and feel inside.

    Enlighten Up.

AD BLOCK.... makes all the awesome music videos much more enjoyable (and facebook, educational sites, streamed movies etc.)

  • 2:26 , JJ epicness

  • @CanMan118 i dont need myself remembered

  • fuck ralph lauren

  • this all is gonna cjange, no more lady fucking gaga. just wait, and trust.

  • @Glakoris we need ww3

  • I love this song, i love toris version too!

and i love can man118's comment

  • The fact that "JESSE MCCARTNEY 'SHAKE'" is written directly under this video makes me want to smack my head off a wall.

  • punk futurista

  • VEVO RUINED EVERYTHING.

  • i bought my 1st stranglers album in 1981, the men in black, love that album

  • man, this bring back child hood times. Can't imagine what we did in the 80's. it was fun and cool.

  • canman is right.

    And i'm 51 ;)

  • canman is fuckin' right.

    And i'm 51 ;)

  • I'm 50. The thing that gets me scratching my head is the tattoo fad. Mowhawk haircuts, safety pins etc. etc. were fads you could grow out of. Which is inevitable. You can't wash off tattoos when the styles change or you change or both. I can't imagine being permanently stuck with a fashion choice I made when I was 20.

  • 2001 ???? Looks like 1981!

  • Not my generation I must admit BUT still when I'm listening to this In a back of my head (full of memories) is like a fast forward all my experience as a rough sleeping rebel-vagabond.Song however have a question in a title which-personalised-still can't find an answer.

  • Kelsmart, whoever you are, for sure I don´t recommend you being 50 and have lived all that punk stuff. Even for me that lived only 40 everything nowadays looks weirder than everything that I´ve imagined in my past weirdest dreams. I thought the world would melt into garbage, but it melted into strange technologies and a kind of bovine stupidity. Everyday I meet sheeps & wolves, sometimes they´re melted together, eating each other joyfully.

  • Great video! Been a Stranglers fan since 1980 and it never gets old.

  • Kelsmart, Punk was an attitude and way of thinking as much as a "LOOK" so you can find and meet like minded people if you look around! They were good times and youth culture was strong back then but i would dearly love to be 20 something again so enjoy being different and enjoy your youth. All the best. Punk's Not Dead!!!! :-)

  • @firemission100 Amen to "Punk's not Dead"! I'm 35 years old and lived in a time (80's) when the punk radical counter culture was still around. I don't believe the thoughts and beliefs of "punk" ever died. However, not everyone who listens to punk rock music must "dress the part". Kelsmart should look outside the box and understand that "punks" are still around, but they just do not always look like a punk. Just have to open your mind.

  • kelsmart thats okay do what you want... maybe you will find other people like you if you start something...

  • one of my favorites.

  • This video is the cause of global warming. All the hairspray they used is equal to every diesel engine in the US running for 14 years straight!

  • @Blindeyes1431 No one I knew used hairspray to do that, neither did I. Hairspray was what they used in the 1960s. This is hair gel (for those who had the cash), or good old white LePage's wood glue (for those who didn't).

  • @squeekycat

I always use vaseline. Works great.

  • she's so HOT and PRETTY!

  • La chica me recordo a Death del comic The Sandman...

  • brill. real memories of the eighties. gs manchester

  • goin t see em on saturday omg cant wait x

  • @missdaisyxxx1 Not Hugh Cornwell, so not the Stranglers, unfortunately!
