I absolutely love how sly, smart and cunning Diego is through all the talk with the count - employing all the political wits he can't normally reveal! I love his evasive answers and turning the questions against the count, stalking him and stealing information from him.
Not only owned Alaska, but had a settlement at what is now known as Fort Ross, California, about 2 hours by car north of San Francisco. ISTR that the Ross is really from 'Russ' - as in 'Russ'-ian.
@IheartZorro I didn't know that about Fort Ross; thanks for telling me! Also, forgive me, but, "ISTR"? I'm not familiar with that acronym. Clarification, please?
@AutobotNutcase ISTR = 'I seem to recall (or remember)' But I was a bit off. It's 'Ross' from 'Rossiya' - the Russian word for Russia. (Though the original people *were* called the Russ.)The settlement is not really known outside of a fairly local area in northern California. The Cold War probably helped downplay it even more.
@obiwanfx Why not? They already owned Alaska! When America bought it in 1867 (the "Zorro" series is set circa 1820) Alaska became known as Seward's Folly because our Secretary of State at the time, William H. Seward, paid $7.2 million for it! I don't know why the Russians in this series would have wanted California, but then, a regular American on the streets in 1867 couldn't have said why Sewell wanted Alaska, either - and I doubt the Russians in 1867 could have said, either.
It's true Diego is very dangerous in terms of intellect. The Eagle may not suspect he’s Zorro but his intellect should still worry him a bit. But the Eagle only recognizes physical strength.
A bit of trivia: vodka in the early 19th century was viewed as a poor man's drink and offering it to a nobleman would be an insult. Kinda like serving gin to a guest at a big mansion in the mid 18th century.
thank you so much for posting. I remember in 1 episode Diego got shut by a bullet or something,do you know the name of that episode?I'd love to see it, have you posted it yet? i love when something happens to the hero, it makes him even more of a hero!
@Elvislittlegirl It maks the hero more human indeed. I like it too when he gets hurt.. Well, not really, but it is exciting. AS long as it turns out allright
Diego is like "Dad, Shut.Up."

I love that Bernardo was making faces behind Big Beard's head! It would take an effort on Diego's part not to laugh.
