  • I didn't fall under Mr. Dylan's spell until I was 60 years ago, when he released Beyond here lies nothing. Heard this song for the first time on Celtic Crush on the Spectrum, on sirius xm satelite radio, they play a lot of young talented artists, the music is as good today, as it was in 1957, 60, 62, 74, and up til the present, the difference is, the musicans get older and the his/hers music gets better. Because of outube, we can view other coountries music, how woonderful.

  • This song is about our country. It sure fit today

  • Listen to covers of Dylan instead of Dylan himself...phhht..now that's just too 2012 for me!

  • personally i prefer dylans vershions of his own work aswell. im young but im in the kno because of bob . yea dylan shurely knows the score its just to me he like a modern day profit his work will last forever . he did the rght thing doing it his way. instead of being influenced by them love u bob . i would love to smoke a joint with bob and philosophise

  • Who is on the Hammond organ? Guitar, voice, bass, Hammond organ.....great mix His voice was solid here in the mid 70s

  • Beautiful <3

  • where can i buy this?

  • @MrTheAlabam You won't get it for money :)

  • Jesus...this is magnificent. Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • Thanks for uploading!

  • I've never heard this version before, thanks so much for posting it!

  • I like it!!

I just discovered this song on the Rolling Stone Top 100 of Greatest singers of all time, where other singers talk about each singer - very good! Dylan is #7.

  • I like the version from the hard rain cd more, but this version better portrays the meaning in the manner he wrote it, but the hard rain version better portrayed moments when he felt cheated and had anger

  • Brilliant version of a Brilliant song. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Wish you'd share this :(

  • i prefer the version on blood on the tracks, but that's like sayin' i prefer breathin in to breathin out. I miss the line "And it makes me feel so sorryyyyy"

  • Well, I just got back from a nine minute meditation that took me far outside of myself. It was very disturbing in many ways. Lovingly cynical. It was beautiful. Great work, Mr. Dylan.

  • what's the other version? which one is the original album track?

  • @yourown99 Blood on the tracks

  • * * * * *

  • The other version has more anger in it, but i like this version better

  • This was the take of "Idiot Wind" originally intended for release on Blood on the Tracks before Dylan decided to rerecorded it at the Minneapolis sessions. "The Bootleg Series" version is just a first or second take. It's a shame this wasn't chosen instead because its by far the best version of this song.

  • Best 9 minutes of our lives

  • Perfect diction and great narrative, drives this fascinating version of the song that made it onto my favourite Dylan album.

  • This version of the song is the best I know. The first time I heard this it brought a whole new appreciation to the song for me and solidified its place in my favorite Dylan songs. The delivery of vocals is perfect for the tone of the song, it is able to evoke so many emotions. I love the subtle changes to the lyrics and prefer them to the original. Thank you for posting this gem!

  • fantastic

  • Holy cow...

  • I don't have a pleasent feel when it comes to Bob Dylan or Beatles, or really anyone of the 60's and 70's time period. I think it has to do with credit, there isn't much better music out there, and for an example, Dylan's voice is amazing, it works so well with his work, leave it be.

  • TWO versions of the same poem/song, by the writer/singer...

    Who could ask for better?!?

The CHANGES between the "versions", for anyone who bother to listen & read,

    are quite wonderful.

A great surprise, to a lover of poetry & music!!

    :)

    A True Pleasure!

...& He can sure play the harmonica!!

  • I noticed at the ceremony that you left all your bags behind.

The driver came in after you left, he gave them all to me and then he resigned.

hahahahahah Dylans hits the nail on the head every single time, hahahaha

  • your lyrics are wrong, could you have copied from a later edition of the song?

  • @dingleharvey these seem less bitter? Which parts? I only ask because therse lyrics seemed to me to be much much harsher than the blood on the tracks version

  • It's kinda hard to pick a favorite Dylan song, but the lyrics of this go so deep it has to be up there with the best.

As for his version, it seems less bitter than the Blood on the tracks version.

  • Simply Awesome!

  • I'm just stating a fact. This is not from the bootleg series. The guy who put it on here says it's from the actual first album pressing of Blood on the tracks. If you have the bootleg series, I suggest you listen to that version.

  • Just make me cry, why don't you? Never thought I'd find this again. It's like I've just come home.

  • This is a Dylan song that I return to time and again, and this particular version is simply incredible. Thanks so much for uploading it, and I hope it manages to stay up here. I know many people find Dylan extremely difficult to listen to and prefer it when other artists interpret his work, but for me there is nothing as good as hearing Bob performing one of his masterpieces in his own way. Namaste.

    AWESOME

  • i love both!! i'm 32yrs old and do not listen to any current music... i love the Beatles and Bob Dylan, its kind of sad bt there is nothig that comes close. I would rate 'Blood on the Tracks' as my fav of all but close w/Sgt.Pepper

  • @MsKellyko You are shortchanging yourself if you think there is nothing out there today. There is a ton of great bands and music, just have to dig a little deeper. There is nothing sad about music not equaling Dylan, Beatles, etc, they revolutionized music and helped pave the way for everyone else. There influence is heard today in music that most radio ignores but is brilliant in its own way

  • Am I wrong or did he record this, then re-recorded w/ a different band in Minn.....thats the album too. He plaed it for his brother who thought it was just not right

  • This isn't from the bootleg series dumbass. All you have to do is listen to them to know.

  • @domine3 Then where is it from, shithead? That's what I thought.

  • Sooo good. I don't suppose you could change the lyrics to match the ones he's using in this version?

  • Can I just ask where you got this? It's incredible and to be honest better than the original

  • @Tjeerdooo This is from the Bootleg Series, Vol. 1-3.

  • thank you and best wishes to you
