@TebooTedMarshall About frozen beef heart it is best to defrost it atleast a little bt before feeding this makes it eazier for the fish to eat it the down side is it will be a little messy so many people throw it in frozen so it stay in one piece

@j1nxowner I've got 1 and mine has always eaten flake food.. after a few months i told my local fish shop that I've got 1 and he said I should give it bloodworm but then went on to say that if its been eating flake food for a few months and theres no problems then it can carry on with flakes... I've had it for over a year now..

hey jarkkofan you shouldnt worry about about your tank size. I have a 44 gal pentagon corner tank that i just started and i bought 3 of these guys. they dont grow fast so you really have nothing o worry about. my Cichlids will most likely outgrow em before they even grow an inch. go get one man =D

BGKs are predators and they may eat neons and guppies. Mine didn`t eat the cardinals I had but I think I was lucky with mine speciment.

does your blackghost eats neon tetras??? it seems my 1 month old guppy kids has been eaten by my two 10cm blackghosts...there were 7 of them, only one who were growing bit faster than most were left unharmed.... I am so sad...it was my uncle who recommend me to buy those two ghosts...He told me that it won't eat those guppies but seems like they did....

Very nice knife! Mine has developed his own way to eat. I only feed him every other day due to his diet but he gets mad that other fish on flake food get feed every day. Now he swims upsidedown and backwards along the top and eats all the flakes! I am not underfeeding him he is just a pig! haha. Him and my two dojo loaches are my favorite fish to watch. They the most personality of any fish I have ever owned.

I have a 650 liter AQ, and would say its the minimum size to keep this fish. I have 2 one about 15-20cm and other +30cm. Very teritorial and aggressive towards other likes, so you need a lot of hiding places for each fish... Eats about everything you feed it:) If he doesnt like it he wont eat it:P

Many say that the BGK hunts tetras, but I haven`t seen this. I would prefere to have the cardinals. They are more beautiful and "everyone" has the neons.

There is no such thing as a spacious 29 gal. You'll need at least 100 gal within a year, as it'll be nearly a foot long by then.

Im getting a new 40 gallon tank this summer and I wanted to know if an Elephant nose, Ghost Knife, and a Fire eel will get along? I heard that the ghost knife and elephant nose are really friendly and get along great with each other and fish like platies, neons, etc.

They say you should never have more tha one BGK in a tank, because the electric signals they send out disturbe the others. A 38G tank is also way to small for a fish like this. They get very big and need the space. They sould at least be in a 130G tank.

I started with eight baby black ghosts in a 75-gallon tank, with no other fish in the tank at all. It's been fifteen years now, and I have two left, one of which has grown to a pretty massive 16 inches in length. They're by and large peaceful, but I have seen them fighting each other and that can get pretty brutal as they jockey for territory in the tank.

I`m not sure. In my experience the black ghost is a peaceful fish, but each speciment can have different behavior. A 50 gal tank will eventually be to smal, because this fish grows big fast.

Thanks for the comment. He likes to eat frozen beefheart. He sometimes eat frozen red bloodworms aswell, but the favourite is the beefheart.
