@saint76767676 This show, much like Storage Wars presents ridiculous circumstances. "They travel the back roads looking for rusted gold"...they say this is how they earna living..BULLSHIT! Are they factoring in the gas for travel and the restoration and all the other crap.
They make their money off the actual show. Its just not feasible to do something like this. Especially driving around in a Mercedes van...where did they get the money? THE SHOW gave it to them thats where.
Isn't this just awful? Imagine, people out to make a profit in America. They even have a TV show to make more money! More money than I make! This isn't fair. Boo-hoo! We need more government to closely monitor what's going on with these kinds of shows. We already have the FCC and the IRS, so can't we have real protection for people being taken advantage of by selling THEIR property? I don't have all that stuff! I don't have a TV show.This is America, right? It should be equal for all of us!

I was doing this on a small scale in the northwest. This is the best show on television in my opinion and its on the only channel worth watching...usually.
alright fuckers. If you feel these guys are ripping people off you have zero concept of how buying old/decrepit/antique or vintage items works. Zero. They are buying wholesale not retail. They offer fair WHOLESALE prices. A good ratio for them is to double their money. If you take into account their operating cost and time/effort it's less than this. If you actually watch the show there are some instances they offer people more than they ask because they know the worth of the item.
TOO BAD THAT ALL THE "PICKS" ARE STAGED. THE COMPANY PRODUCING THE SHOW PAYS THE PEOPLE FIVE GRAND TO BE ON THE SHOW, AND STAGES IT ALL FOR APPEARANCES SAKE....FAKE ASS .......
American Pickers and Pawn Stars are THE BEST SHOWS ON TV that aren't political or opinionated like so many other shows out there. THEY ARE JUST PLAIN GOOD FUN!!! Keep it coming. American Restoration is a great show also!
I think I've caught the "American Pickers" fever, because yesterday, I pulled out my Marilyn Monroe pictures, and a few members of my pop bottle collection, and I began enquiring about how much I think they'd be worth. A few people said they're worth nothing, while others become awestruck at their presence. It's nice to have these items as so-called "Prized Possessions."
RE: Steve Sabbia comment: I have seen them, several times, off people MORE Than what they were asking; and letting them know how much the item is worth. Beides, all this junk sitting in some back house gathering dust is not doing anyone any good! Trust me., people won't part with stuff they find valuable for pennies on the dollar.

In my opinion, this show is boring. I am into cars, guns, and weapons. this show rarely features these things. Pawn stars is great, but Pickers , bleh.
I like the show. It's amazing what's out there just rotting. The only part that hurts is when they show the money that they just made on that piece. It's like a slap in the face to the person that they just bought it from. That's why my house will probably end up on the show "hoarders". I'm scared to sell anything here for the fear that it may be worth more. Anyway, beautiful Woody, great name on the door too.

to all the negative people who think these guys rip people off think again. they are looking(and buying) things that have sat not being used,forgotten,abandoned etc for many many years and then they come along and offer money for it. I am sure the people who sell to them are VERY happy just to give it the potenial for life again instead of just rotting away to nothing plus they get some cash out of it to boot.
explain how they are supposed to pay for gas, business expenses, etc if they are giving people what their items are worth. they aren't buying this stuff as collectors, they're buying it as pickers with the intention of reselling it for money. if you think they are crooks then quit giving their videos more hits and publicity by coming to youtube to shit all over them.

how can anyone with a functioning brain honestly believe these guys are crooks? they make an offer on something and it's up to the owner if they want to sell it or not. why should a buyer be at fault when a seller doesn't know what they're selling? or why should they be at fault when all they do is make offers...
the root of this issue is that the "majority" that believes they are crooks obviously don't understand what it is to make a profit, which is the whole point of going into business.
Mike Wolfe is a PUTZ, a smart ass that thinks he's cool and tries to act nice to people but can't. More people should boot his boney ass of their property. Frank Fritz, however is a nice guy and you can see it in his personality. Go Frankie!!

As far as being fake I think the entire show is fake and can't believe that the History Channel even shows it.. @takerdust Dude, It's really simple... They buy things from people and sell the things to make a profit. Sometimes they get into hard times and need to find/sell things quick but theres no "massive cash reserves". Its not a big conspiracy like you think. "This show is fake! Its simply a camera crew following a couple of guys around doing their jobs.

This show is good, but Frank Fritz is a selfish idiot!!! I feel bad for some of these really nice older people who open their homes and lives to these knuckleheads. One time, Frank said straight out that he did not care about the tea and cookies one family gave him, but just took it to get to their stuff!!! What a scumbag! In one episode, he brags about all the expensive things he bought in his early twenties (house, car, etc.). Boy, what happened Frank? You are a loser picker now!

@kwadinka Well you know these guys have people calling them from all over to come and pick through their stuff. These guys are not even that good. They know Motorcycles, Bicycles, gas pumps, a few misc things and of course, rusted gas station signs. They're pretty one dimensional.
I do this sort of thing for a living too and you have to handle people with kid gloves. A lot of people will treat you like one of the family and you really should appriciate it. I'm afraid Frank does not at times

I don't understand why people have a problem with this. When people call you and tell you they have 'junk' they want to get rid of, why not go and relieve them of it? I had a guy call me and told me he was going to 'torch' a building full of 'junk'. I asked him if I could come out, I walked out with 2 truckloads of stuff to resell. I asked him what he wanted for them, he didn't want a cent. I did give him some money because I felt guilty.

explain how they are supposed to pay for gas, business expenses, etc if they are giving people what their items are worth. they aren't buying this stuff as collectors, they're buying it as pickers with the intention of reselling it for money. if you think they are crooks then quit giving their videos more hits and publicity by coming to youtube to shit all over them.

how can anyone with a functioning brain honestly believe these guys are crooks? they make an offer on something and it's up to the owner if they want to sell it or not. why should a buyer be at fault when a seller doesn't know what they're selling? or why should they be at fault when all they do is make offers...
the root of this issue is that the "majority" that believes they are crooks obviously don't understand what it is to make a profit, which is the whole point of going into business.

Hello takerdust- You state that they offer huge amounts of money for useless junk? I guess I missed those shows because I have never seen them give a fair amount of money for anything they purchase. As far as being fake I think the entire show is fake and can't believe that the History Channel even shows it.. They should have massive amounts of money in their pockets just from screwing the people that they buy from each show. To top it off their proud of it. Make you sick to your stomach.

@takerdust Dude, It's really simple... They buy things from people and sell the things to make a profit. Sometimes they get into hard times and need to find/sell things quick but theres no "massive cash reserves". Its not a big conspiracy like you think. "This show is fake! Blah blah blah They dont make money picking, its all from the show" I mean, They were a bussiness before the show and still are. Its simply a camera crew following a couple of guys around doing their jobs.

Mike seems ok but I get a vibe that Frank is a not as nice or as fair as the show would lead you to believe. Also, beware of some of the final values they show for some items they seem a quite low.

This show is good, but Frank Fritz is a selfish idiot!!! I feel bad for some of these really nice older people who open their homes and lives to these knuckleheads. One time, Frank said straight out that he did not care about the tea and cookies one family gave him, but just took it to get to their stuff!!! What a scumbag! In one episode, he brags about all the expensive things he bought in his early twenties (house, car, etc.). Boy, what happened Frank? You are a loser picker now!

@kwadinka Well you know these guys have people calling them from all over to come and pick through their stuff. These guys are not even that good. They know Motorcycles, Bicycles, gas pumps, a few misc things and of course, rusted gas station signs. They're pretty one dimensional.
I do this sort of thing for a living too and you have to handle people with kid gloves. A lot of people will treat you like one of the family and you really should appriciate it. I'm afraid Frank does not at times

I don't understand why people have a problem with this. When people call you and tell you they have 'junk' they want to get rid of, why not go and relieve them of it? I had a guy call me and told me he was going to 'torch' a building full of 'junk'. I asked him if I could come out, I walked out with 2 truckloads of stuff to resell. I asked him what he wanted for them, he didn't want a cent. I did give him some money because I felt guilty.
