  • FUGGKEN BEAST ON THE BOX BRO

  • I have the tab for this and I was excited to play it, but my fingers really need to stretch out to get those chords... really straining my hand and I have to take brakes, but hopefully the pain will go away soon after practising more. : )

  • Get a new guitar ??

  • i love the string buzzes in this piece

  • He drops his sixth. I'd rather hear a little string buzz in a straight up live performance than anything crystal clear out of the studio! Just sayin'.

  • Makes it all looks so easy doesn't he?

  • I'm surprised by the amount of fret buzz. I've never heard that in a Tommy Emmanuel song before. Is this in Drop D?

  • @Smullet90 yeah, it is.

  • i love it

  • 3 people have no patience.

  • If you listen to this song...and the only thing you hear and comment on is the minor fretbuzz...your soul needs some serious work F.Y.I. That's how you know.

  • does anybody know what amplification he uses ta make the piezo sound so natural?

  • @risingsorrow AER Compact 60! His Maton guitar is also equipped with a microphone so it becomes a balanced mix of mic and piezo!

  • he has massive hands

  • His guitar is living ! can see it ! So nice ! I like those instruments who are show us that they are in a team with hands :)

  • @stef1v

Just practise, because eventually your fingers get lean and you'll be able to do it.

  • the best guitar player!

  • @gatsbyKLoGGitz Not the best, but amazing. I saw him live in Atlanta once, and he is incredible, but check out Steve Vai, or Yngwie Malmsteem. I play guitar, and after seeing them, I didn't even want to play any more.

  • @usernamehehehaha Yes, he is the best. Vai says so too ;)

  • This video was done while Tommy was still playing with low action. A few years later 2010 he raised his action since he said the guitar sounds better that way.

  • @neoclasiccl i bet, his 6th string buzzes an awful lot in this video

  • Fret buzz would also be heard clearly from his on-board pickup system, not a room mic in particular. As @jakisnot says, his action is just that low!

If you look he has 2 cables coming out of his guitar; Tommy has two different systems inside that guitar. One is the Maton APMic system that comes as standard on that model (EBG808 TE), the other is a retrofitted mic he only uses when recording live shows for DVD, TV, etc. Adding that second mic sweetens the overall sound for multimedia.

  • The sound hole is plugged. The primary recorded sound is coming from the piezo & internal microphone system on-board. For there to be that much fret buzz audible in the mix is due to the room mic being left on....which it obviously shouldn't have.

  • My favorite part of the song is where he doesn't sing.

  • I can play this song note for note, but somehow it doesnt sound nearly as good as tommy

  • @everyone

the fret buzz is because it's in drop d tuning, the release in tension on a low action instrument will almost always give a buzz when the particular string is struck with reasonable force

  • what an awesome guitarist! Tommy I am inspired by you! I have played guitar for many years and am in my sixties and a real cowboy to boot. My fingers have been broke too many times handling horses and cattle to play like you do but I do try. Thank you sir for yer music it brings me peace and comfort

  • only 62,750 views?? i've watched it at least 100,000 times

  • He always plays with a very low action. It is impossible to play his songs with with a high action. You can hear a bit of string buzz because he's playing the guitar acoustic. When he plays it over an amp (AER) and with a bit of delay to it,the buzz gives every song this great percussive and dynamic touch.

  • About the fret buzz thing - yeah, if you watch his earlier videos or listen to records, there have always been fret buzz present from time to time, but way less than here in this video. so maybe his guitar got worn out over the years. Personally I love it. It adds unique character to his songs.

  • Excellent

    Grandma Mary

  • can i cry?? this piece is beautiful..

  • EVERYTHING IS PERFECT, BUT THE STRING IS HITTING A LOT

  • How is it possible to write something this beautiful?

  • Geiler Song ! versuch ich mal zu Spielen

  • My favorite TE song.I

  • My favorite TE-song

  • Inspiration....

  • Бог гитары.

  • How does Tommy say so much with only seven letters, A-G?

  • @121jigawatts Seven letters and only two types of punctuation: # and b.

  • @121jigawatts Um... Well actually he uses 12 letters :P

    But still that's pretty good!

  • @121jigawatts well there's more then 7 if you include the shapes and flats

  • ahhhhhhh.... my soul is fed

  • thank you tommy.

  • I like a lot of Emmanuel's stuff. I have to admit that I indulge in instrumental acoustic guitarists that are more avante garde (Dufour, Mckee, etc.) This is definately one of my favorite pieces by him though, it has that nice American folky Emmanuel vibe to it while sounding much like the late MIchael Hedges. Just beautiful!

  • 1:35 grande!

  • hes also an amazing thumb picker although i was amazed with his flat pick ability

  • I have never heard anything as wonderful as this

His string hight is a bit low causing a little string buzz. Still the tune is wonderful!

  • I have never heard anything as wonderful as this

  • i learnt it in a day!! piece of cake!!

  • i just can't do that cursed third chord...maybe my hands are too little...

  • @Stef1v That's what I said... haha. You sit there and stretch your hand practically in half for an hour, and then give up. Later on though, you'll just somehow get it.

  • @Stef1v You can try working with a guitar capo on 7 first, that way you don't have to stretch your fingers that far and you will actually learn to stretch them further later on.

  • 1:21, amazing.

  • Emotional tune...beautiful...

  • why the hell do 2 people dislike this. brain dead

  • @kellyjones05 ..maybe because they don´t like it ?

  • What an inspiration.

  • 2:28 ♥

  • I'm now trying to play it, but it's very difficult :)

very awesome piece of music :D

  • I know that TE has a lot of more difficult tunes to play. But this one is my all time favorite. Those who wait ...

Good things come to those who wait is an English phrase extolling the virtue of patience.

  • Heard this number 2nite for the first time during an examination for the music academy from my niece........a direct hit to my heart........what a beauty !

  • 1 word

    awesome

  • that. was. fucken. beautiful.

  • How the HELL do you get your fingers around for that F.... :(

  • @20GuitarZero07 The first 2 months I was like WTF! Now 2 Years later I still am like WTF, but it gets better

  • @koensieben622 I laughed hard at this comment. All of his songs are so freaking difficult you give up after 15 minutes =(

  • @PaperBirdFilmsUK Most "fingerstyle" music requires the low actually (and subsequent buzzing) or they would not get the tonal sustain of things like slap harmonics and whatever else...he's such a tricky bastard. Totally mesmerizing.

  • Tommy likes his guitars to have very low action hence the buzz. His necks are dead straight and very low like and electric guitar. I have similar action setup on my Maton Tommy Emmanuel guitar and you have to be careful with your dynamics or it can get pretty buzzy if your not careful. Makes those 5 finger chords alot easier.

  • Yeaaaaaa the best! Lucky to have found a tab-book of him with all tabs from his album "Only". Only.... I have never seen a cd of his!! So thanks a lot for uploading so I can learn this song !!

  • I've been harassing the reply button.

  • I agree. The action is too low. He plays this song in another video and it's buzzing really bad. No disrespect to Emmanuel. He's an amazing guitarist. But seriously, dude, can you not hear that??

  • @DudeWheresMyDeLorean yeah, i dont really mind though. it kinda adds character

  • You can hear just how low his action is, i know the E string is tuned down.. still.

  • Beautiful song and style...Sure wish God gave me long double-jointed fingers like TE. I can't do the thumb chords and stretch my fingers like his.

  • What's that chord at 0:25 ?

  • @seb110893 Hey, whatever a m'fer means.. in tabs its 3-3-5-2-3-3

  • @GitarrenMarcel

Do you have the correct tab? Tab me :D

  • @Drenius tommyemmanuel . wordpress . com/gitar-tabok/

  • @seb110893 dm7

  • That chord at :26 is a m'fer.

  • @UltraTexan What he said! Hate that one =p

  • I dont know, that fret buzz gives an additional amount of character to the song, I love the way it sounds.

  • @TPJamBam Yeah, thats fantastic...!! The whole song is fantastic...!! Never heard such a beatiful song before...!! =)

  • @TPJamBam Tommy has his guitars setup with a dead straight neck and low action. I don't mind the string buzz either but others tend to complain LOL. His performances are so good the buzz just adds to it :)

  • @Analist: thanx :-)

  • sounds like his action is a bit too low. Fantastic none the less.

  • @esdenaze he has it low on purpose, were not supposed to hear it. he mentioned that he has it as low as he can get to relieve stress on his fingers;)

  • @saftelskeren we're*

  • Where can I find this video in full length? Thx for letting me know.

  • wow i'd like to play like this guy! :D great song

  • Great!
