I am all over this! My neighbour gave me a BAG full of Jalepenos, and I figured I would search out a decent recipe...well look no more...I found it! THANK YOU!!!!
believe it or not folks, jalapenos dont actually burn, unless you still have the seeds in em. lol. im mexican lol. i like seeing new folks around my town try our foods they havent yet. they get surpirsed. just cuz it may look spicy, doesnt mean it is spicy. lol ever tried hot tamarind snow cones. i love those. dont judge a book for its cover:P
Light cream cheese, for sure. Turkey bacon, well, I wouldn't personally recommend it as it's probably going to lack some of the crunch (not to mention flavor) that the real deal master pork bacon provides. It will work to be sure, but on both flavor and texture? Likely to fall a smidgen short. Then again, if you never try the baconation, I suppose that you won't be missing anything! ;)
@geokills alright I'm gonna give it a try and see if it gets crunchy I don't really like to eat pork so I guess I'll see how it goes lol thanks for replying
@clamcrabber Thanks! If you're a fan of the JGB, I might note that Dark Star Orchestra will be featuring Stu Allen (the "Jerry" of the current iteration of Melvin Seals & JGB) as their lead guitar for the west coast leg of their ongoing tour! I'm trying to hit the Ashland Armory in Oregon, as well as the Los Angeles and Solana Beach shows this April. :)
someone dropped about a bushel of jalapenos off on our front porch (we live around a lot of farmers) and this is what we were thinkin of doing with them...
Don't think, just do it! Slice, seed, fill with cream cheese, wrap in bacon, place on rack with drip tray in a 375 degree oven for 30 - 45 minutes or until the bacon is crisped. They can be kept in the oven for longer if you need to, as there is a lot of moisture from the bacon fat and cream cheese, you can't really dry these things out.
You would be plesantly surprised. Hot as far as heat is concerned, but let it cool off a bit out of the oven. You don't have those seeds in there, which accounts for it's internal heat.
Is that right? If that's the case I need to try some. I'm thinking more about habanero peppers as they are super hot cooked or raw. Thanks for sharing that.
Indeed, the hab's are definitely a few steps up from the spicey jap's! The cream cheese also helps to quell the spice, as dairy products can unlock the capsaicin from your tongue's taste receptors, thereby affording some measure of relief. As mentioned, I also scooped out the seeds in these (but tried to leave the membrane because I DO like it hot! :)
Thanks for the info Geokills. I never had one of these before but they look delicious. I did however try a stuffed habanero one time and one time only much to my dismay. I never ran to a glass of water so fast in my life after eating one. Perhaps I should have gone for the half & half instead lol?
Mmmmm very tasty looking. I love Jalapeno poppers. I make them at home in the oven. I once tried Habanero poppers. Ummm it tasted great for about 3 seconds before my mouth was on fire. LOL :)
Ain't that the truth! I love stuffed jalapenos from a night a friend made them on the grill when about 10 drunk boys came into our house at 230 am in the morning and had a ball making them. Never been the same since.
I was going to leave a Comment but Im feeling too hungry to leave one.
