My friend has really curly hair. Not the tight curls, but those really loose natural curl. She found a hairdresser in our town (the only one too) who only does curly hair! They know exactly how to cut it and make it look amazing! Keeping the natural curls too! And they'll give you tips on how to keep your natural curls how you want them!
The one I get is, "I love your hair! I wouldn't ever want it myself, but it looks good on you!" So they effectively give you a complement then swiftly take it away again.

Oh my God someone finally understands!!! I have just about the weirdest curly hair ever. I'm Filipino, Puerto Rican, African, and white, so my hair is pretty odd. Not only do I get weird stares from people wondering what race I am, it really drives them crazy when they try to figure out where I got my hair.
Normally I balk at the suggestion that my hair is political, but when it comes to this specific topic, I have no problem saying that my choice not to straighten my natural 4b hair, for special occasions or any other occasion, is a political statement. I've gotten one too many of those "ooh I like your hair better straight" comments for my liking. It has been 8 years since I last wore straight hair (mine or anybody else's).
I TOTALLY AGREE! I have huge curly hair and my white counterparts are always so amazed at how big it can be. Even worse are the BLACK MEN who don't believe it's my hair and have to touch it. As if I'm wearing a wig and there's absolutely no way it could grow out of my head this way.

Oh my God someone finally understands!!! I have just about the weirdest curly hair ever. I'm Filipino, Puerto Rican, African, and white, so my hair is pretty odd. Not only do I get weird stares from people wondering what race I am, it really drives them crazy when they try to figure out where I got my hair.

Normally I balk at the suggestion that my hair is political, but when it comes to this specific topic, I have no problem saying that my choice not to straighten my natural 4b hair, for special occasions or any other occasion, is a political statement. I've gotten one too many of those "ooh I like your hair better straight" comments for my liking. It has been 8 years since I last wore straight hair (mine or anybody else's).

I TOTALLY AGREE! I have huge curly hair and my white counterparts are always so amazed at how big it can be. Even worse are the BLACK MEN who don't believe it's my hair and have to touch it. As if I'm wearing a wig and there's absolutely no way it could grow out of my head this way.

Wow... I love this video! Let me first start off by saying you have read my mind! You are saying exactly what I am feeling and have gone through all of my life. I feel so misunderstood by others, I am in the South where everyone has a perm and they just don't get it. The most Jeff Foxworthy/Larry the cable guy lookin man mad a comment saying "looks like someone made it to work before their hair was done" It hurt but this makes it easier to wear my hair the way God made it!
