shadow shouldn't get smaller as the object leaves the surface. it should get bigger and less clear. BUT the shadow should be darker in the center of the shadow when the object is closer to the surface, so it looks half great and half weird

What I don't understand, is how you got the two layers - the ball and the shadow - to become a movie clip in the first place. I can turn each individual graphic into a movie clip, but when there are multiple layers I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?
