For my two cents, I think Carolina should've placed fourth in the long, but she should still have hung on to a medal. I would have had it Mao, Yukari and Carolina on the podium. And I dunno, people might bite my head off for this but I think Carolina presents better than Yukari and Yuna, a much nicer spiral sequence for starters, better steps too.

No, everyone agrees Carolina's SP was very good, but she messed up 4 (maybe 5?) of her jumps in the LP and looked very bad. Carolina is a great skater, but she shouldn't have received silver in this competition. I loved this short program..but..Yukari Nakano and Yu-Na Kim were better in the LP.

I don't want to say anything bad about her because she is good but the judges were idiots: for her 3F-3T she got +1.71 though the landing was really akward ( compare Yuna: only 1.43 for a perfect combo). The lutz step out only cost her -0.29 points more than asada's who did it perfectly but from the wrong edge. Her 2A had no lift at all but she received +1 ?!?! GOE has really become the new way of pushing some skaters to the top!
The commentary is great. Chris Howarth is superb - technically excellent, funny, right balance of speaking and letting the skating speak for itself, and also makes a programme of it. I think the other bloke must be the tea boy. Someone give him a biscuit and shut him up.
Did you just say Nakano's spins are bad? ... what? It's widely known Nakano has some of, if not the, best spins in the world right now, and even the Eurosport commentators stated how Yukari has fantastic spins.
Her triple axel was downgraded but most agree that it was clean. However, Nakano is an unbelievable spinner perhaps one of the best in the world. Carolina has her strengths but her spins are not on the same level as Nakano's.

yukari nakano is not anle to do a 3-3 combination. moreover herl elements have not the same level of those proposed by caro, yu na anda mao. furthermore her 3 axel was downgraded to 2. i don't believe caro's silver should be given to yukari.

I`m usually a Mao\Yuna supporter, but I have to give Carolina props on her performance. Her spirals just keep getting better, she has prohably even deeper edging than Mao, and Mao did get lower levels on her spirals and spins due to careless counting.
I still think Mao and Caro both deserve at least a 66, tho. The judges have been way too conservative in terms of points in the SP for ladies the entire season.
I agree with gio705ne. Every speech on favoritism is only a paranoiac slander. Mao and Yu have often been overmarked, and nobody has complained about it. Mao is an excellent skater, this is true, but Caro deserves her scores. Caro is an angel. Her performance is superb, in my opinion.
I see some changes the way she controls her upper body.
Mao made some elementary mistakes such as
rest time at spiral-sq,plus a habitual edging mistake.
So it may be hasty to assume that there was a Euro-favored judgement.
Kostner seems not to have enough vitality to perform FS especially at last half. I think whether she will win or not all boils down to her vitality to keep her body steady.Though I'm a Japanese i'm cheering for kostner too!
the reason kostner beat asada in the short program was that asada's positions in her spiral sequence were too short. i agree that asadas skate overall was better than kostners, but a skater at that level can not afford to make such stupid mistakes. today i hope to see the skater who performs the best on the top of the podium, even if my preference is carolina!

Sha was placed 1st simply because her technique is better: she did a lutz, not a flutz like mao...and then look at her edges...she got level 4 for her spiral sequence, while mao got level 1! And if you say this Worlds are Euro-flavoured, then last year's Worlds were Japan-flavoured...

The Nakano's jumpe are awful, she didn't landed her triple axel (incomplete) like other triple.

Only 5 points are separating for top 8 skaters in SP. It's best Exciting result i've ever seen in World figure or Olympic.
Kostner usually gets highest in SP then falls down on Free, i doubt she'll break up such a Sasha Coen karma at this time.
Closest SP but No doubt Mao is the Closest to Gold. All she gotta do is just what she usually do in Free. This contest is almost done for me.
