The simple fact is that the UK should withdraw its troops from iraq and Afghanistan, they have nothing to do with us. We should go into Zimbabwe and wipe out Mugabe and his followers and then leave the country to its rightful rulers who have won the election.

I agree. South Africa hasn't failed Zimbabwe; Zimbabwe has failed Zimbabwe. It's arrogant in the extreme to believe that we or anyone else can heal the country externally. Although South Africa's inaction cannot be commended, perhaps it's the correct course. We need to respect the African people enough to not step in every time things look grim, even when our sense of decency and humanity would wish us to do so. They cannot be treated like invalids unable to do anything for themselves.

Mbeki's inaction is not a surprise. Look at South Africa's deterioration since the end of apartheid. These men do not care about the state of the economy or the conditions under which the masses live. The Marxist totalitarian state does not work with the rule of law and stability. These men only want to creat family and tribal dynasties to line their pockets - in foreign banks. Africa will continue to fail, and the softly softly approach from the West will continue to ensure this.
