@gigwalnutz1 its called scat, and although I'm not the biggest fan of it, it shows how one you are at your instrument, how you well you connect your the music in your head and heart with your fingers. Its actually quite incredible.
@MeritMaestro It's great theory, but I think most members of an audience get turned off. This guy is actually hurting his guitar playing, because, now you have to cut through the "scatting" to hear the really good guitar playing underneath!
@gigwalnutz1 Agreed - Glenn Gould was criticised similarly for singing lines through his *classical* piano performances! It is a skill which I remember was encouraged in order to develop exactly what @MeritMaestro suggests and impart the improvisation. I guess, in the end, it's about communicating your playing to an audience. If they came to hear a guitar-player, they might not 'get' the concurrent scat which might detract from the guitar's voice. No right or wrong; just a choice a player makes.
Hello, To play in 4 4 it is not a easy way to play this ; what i mean, if you start-ing-point 1 to a break in the end 4 some time is befor the measure when you play that mean you most be more precise to the 4 4 break and the drummer do the same some time !...
But i think you play very good this version i like very much !...
@tellarjj Are you talking about the part where they trade solos? If so, the drummer is allowed to go out of time if the drummer chooses to do so. I'm not really sure where you're talking about. Even if he did play in two four that wouldn't change anything but how the drummer would accent beats in the measure. If he went into a compound meter then yeah there might be some problems.
the bass player has the totally wrong sound for this type of gig its embarrassing this is the reason us electric bass players get a bad rapport with so many ppl :/
@buefyYT the stu ham - style has really not much with the jaco style to do. i said that i neither liked stu's sound nor his playing here. it doesn't suit the situation. in a bebop tune you play a bebop solo, not some shitty pentatonic with a clicky chorussy sound.
@ipod628 a lot of jazz musicians do this, they create lines in their head and hum or sing them simultaneously while playing. Bud powell among many other jazz musicians do this.
vi kan vara stolta som bor i norden(finland) av dig.du är i smma klass som NHÖP.hälsningar och let it sving.jag vill ännu tillägga att george bensons ballad the shadow of your smile är också great.
Andreas is a remarkably fluid, inventive guitarist who appears comfortable in a variety of styles and excels at playing rapid and coherent phrases with incredible technical dexterity that remain musically coherent and expressive. I'm very impressed. Scatting is an ability to play the notes that you are singing spontaneously. While Andreas certainly could play preconceived lines at times, mostly this skill is about improvising and developing the ability to play what you hear. Excellent.
@sharpnine2000 No, my friend saw him do a guitar clinic and he demonstrated this concept. He says improvisation should be what you hear in your head and that your hands are simply devices to execute what you hear. Some guitarists sang some lines for him and he played them right away, correct pitch and everything. He demonstrates this in this video a little bit: /watch?v=XY3hkGos8xg&feature=related
I don't care how many people say they've heard this a thousand times - I really like it and that's what counts. Great swing and great playing - makes me want to pick up my guitar and learn some of those lines. Can't say Adam Rogers has that effect on me, however "modern" he may be. I'm not knocking him or Rosenwinkel - I just personally prefer this. And Andreas gets 5 extra stars from me for the cowboy boots and outrageous rhinestone strap on that beautiful Benedetto :-) Great stuff - thanks!!
