  • is it me or did he look really touchy with his (if you are looking him in the eye) right hind especially at the piaffe, he was lifting it really high and twitching it a little and wasnt doing that with the other. And personally I dont know much about rolkur but you were saying it disengages his hind end and i beg to differ.

  • @CrazyForLucky I mean I beg to differ that his hind end is disengaged, i dont agree with rolkur though, i just think he really doesnt look that bad as you all are saying

  • Everytime I watch this video I laugh my ass off when Anky starts to sing.

Dabadabada. Hahaha! Not a really good move.

  • There has been so much focus on Totilas that I forgot jst how incredible Salinero is!

  • Even though I can't stand that she uses rollkur, this is still my favorite freestyle. The music and choreography is great and suits the horse so well.

  • Why EVERY time she always has a WITCHE'S face during all the ride???:)))

A deepest fear of her OWN horse and desparate wish to keep him under control at any moment... She probably had too much of "bright impressions" when Salinero took her our from prize giving ceremony in full galop once:))))).....

  • In case you didn't know, dressage is about complete control over the horse at all times and making it look easy. which she does very well!! I don't know what you mean by 'witches' face but shes probably concentrating,do you grin perfectly the whole time you ride???

  • At all times, human's face perfectly reflects inner emotions. All of them. :)

So you see, you come to the very truth of "normal" riding - have total CONTROL over horse.

So the horse is no more friend whom one trusts, no more partner to rely on. But is JUST a piece of smth with unknown emotions, mind and feelings to KEEP UNDER CONTROL ALL THE TIME.

    :)

Quite expected conclusion, I must say....

  • no halt???? dont they have to halt at this level

  • done it already FEI just changed the name

  • Anky is the only dressage rider that breaks in and trains her horses others break them in and send them away and others just buy them and send them away. dressage as cool but i prefer Jumping and Cross Country.

  • yep break is the right word

  • funny. Salinero rides like a dream. i wud do anything to have a horse like that. but probs aint a gr8 jumper so maybe not.

  • i doubt that she let her horses have fun jumping

  • I cant stand it when dressage riders think they r better than show jumpers like myself just coz they can do all that pansy extended trot and flying changes. I know a Dressage rider called Natasha that Entered a pony puisance against me and a couple of our mates. she was the first one out coz she had fallen off at 3rd round. it was soo funny coz she thinks she can do everything and is better than everyone else. Typical Dressage attitude. Goin X country this thurs against her. Bad Luck Natasha!

  • @TwilighterStacie Don't judge all of us because of a few bad eggs. I have been riding dressage for over 10yrs. You know there is always people who think they are better. I have met quite a few jumpers with an attitude as well.....

  • I admit I have one hell of an attitude but not that kind. I badmouth to my teachers face and that kinda stuff. But what im saying is there is alot of dressage riders that are up themselves coz they can make their horses do namby pamby tricks. but there is a few nice dressage riders, like my little sister Salinaira, that are better than alot of other dressage riders but dont want to act it. No offence ment to the few nice ones. sorry if it sounded like that didnt mean it to. :)

  • text comment number 100! About Anky, the ride was amazing, shame she uses rollkur :(

  • With regards to the comments on how she trains her horses (roll kur), yes i agree it is cruel, and there are other ways, but, If its what works for her and gets her horses performing than I guess it's her choice. She is a fantastic rider, you wouldn't make it this far without been one. I guess its her choice as to how she trains her horses.

  • i think it's not her personal choice if she abuses her horse or not -.-

  • it is ALWAYS YOUR CHOICE

  • I am also not sure why Anky used already 19 yo Salinero, he clearly was not up to it, and also his left hind leg was bugging him throughout the program, making extended gaits impossible... poor old chap, it is sad to see this, especially after their breathtaking performance in the same program in WC 2006. Does anyone know what happened to other horses of Anky: Painted Black and especially Krak C? Surely they could do better than Salinero here, I agree that he was over scored for this program.

  • @magdalenamambo - I agree with you there.

  • @magdalenamambo: She still rides Painted Black, but Krack C is retired.

  • Krack C has been retired, I am not sure what the deal is with painted black. salinero is also 15, not 19.

  • Hahaa ....

  • I hate the Rollkur!

  • Unbelievably ridiculous. How can a pair that can't even halt (not even a decent attempt at a halt!) be scoring in the high 80s????

  • strange right? but thats the only point you can get her on. the rest is perfect. I was even more shocked about Isabell wert becoming second at the 2008 olimpics after statchmo almost jumped out of the ring! and it happened in the special and the kur.

  • Ach kommt mal alle von eurem hohen Ross .

  • it breaks my heart to see Salinero in any competition. with the right person, and with proper, correct training he could have been 10 times better than what he is right now. anky's a good rider; you just dont earn that many Olympic gold medals and international competitions by being a complete shit-tastic rider. i do not, however, agree with her training methods. forcing your horse's nose to his chest is NOT proper training, its downright abuse.

  • anyone know why shes doing her old kur?

  • What happened to the horse? I mean, his head position wasn't as bad as some rollkur positions... But I need to know the facts.

  • I hope this horse gets to do other things to change his mind though.... he looks like a machine...

  • Yes, indeed, WHAT A GREAT CHAMION!!!!

CAN'T WALK WITHOUT BEING LAME, CAN'T MOVE WITHOUT BEING BREATHLESS.... AND CAN'T EVEN BE LET TO STRETCH THE NECK JUST A BIT BECAUSE HIS RIDER IS TOO MUCH AFRAID OF HIM......Of this poor chamion whose learned helplessness is now, thanks to HER, his only state of mind......

    Indeed, TOO MUCH "inspiring"......

  • i agrree totally that we should get rid of rolkur as it is baadd and unfair on the horse unless someone professional who klnows what they are doing uses it but otherwise i totally agree and totally respect your opiniion! x

  • Cute. So if it's "baaad and unfair to do it", it's still ok when somebody called "Chamion does it?????

  • sorry, i didnt mean to offend i just think that anky is a great rider :) i also love eventing !! and mary king and oliver townend are my faourites x

  • Wow Salinereo and Anky r like the perfect match

  • Meh, i just thought hed seen his better days. He still wont halt at the beggining of the test, but he never has, i should think that would give an immediate impression of tension. Great horse though, very correct, maybe not as flashy as MT, but hes scooped medals despite the contraversial training methods, which i cant make my mind up about.... still, lovely horse...

  • wtf adrenalineart u dont know what u r talking about a horse only has so many piaffes anky is an emmense rider and if u think u could do better why arnt u up there doing what she has worked so hard to achieve!

  • @dressagelover234 - wow. sos for giving an educated opinion..... anky can ride, i didnt say she couldnt, im not up there doing what shes doing because i do eventing...not dressage XD and thirdly...if youd read the comment, i mainly stated that i thought hed seen his better days...hes been on the block a while now

  • Just becasue people are not at that level, doesnt take away there right to have an opinion. You dont need to be at that level to see that this is most definately not classical dressage. In my OPINION dressage needs a new line of higher level judges that will put an end to Rollkur. This is what has been giving dressage a bad reputation lately. And for us that are learning correctly its sad and depressing to see this. once again MY OPINION please do not blow up at me for having and expressing one.

  • does she every use a different freestlye? this ones gettin kinda old. and when she used it in the 2006 WEG Frestyle, i think that Andreas Helgstrand was a better rider and he had a better horse

  • Comment removed

  • If you watch this video you will see that Salinero was incapable of performing a square halt , especially at the beginning of the Kur ! It is obvious that Anky uses methods of Hyperflexion or Rollkur , because her horse is very tense and hence cannot halt properly.

Nevertheless, Anky is still a four time Olympic Gold medallist , and a 9 time world champion , I respect her regardless of all the controversy that surrounds her reputation.

We still love you Anky !!!

  • I agree with osplick, anyone who thinks that dressage is cruel aint no nothin... you ppl who think you know so much about riding cant even spell the word 'bit' right. Beside has you ever tried to get the correct flexion and bend that is neccesary in a test without a bit...? Pretty hard i reckon.

  • You can't even spell 'know' correctly so following your logic, does it mean you don't know much about riding as well?

  • Does anyone know what the music for the first canter is?

  • the music is specially couriographed for her

  • I have to say, it was a nice test but not deserving of the score which it resieved. This horse has change through the years. He looks off in the front end, it obvious. The severity of the rollkur that she uses has taken it's tole I would say.

  • hes not off...he had a previous injury I think...he also has a weird step pattern...i doubt rollkur had anything to do with it uz hes fairly on the vertical...he is known for a very elastic movement so maybe thats whats throwing you off...but hes not off

  • she's a brilliant rider but does use the rolkur...

  • what ppl have to understand about rollkur is that it depends on the circumstances in which it is used...EXTENSIVE use of rollkur will create damage yes but used as a training method and used PROPERLY can help a horse release its neck muscles...the thing with rollkur is that iss too much hand is used then it becomes a problem. and yes Anky is known as a rollkur user...as to the fact that she uses it wrongly I couldnt tell you

  • Nice first Halt. Not.

  • SHE looks like a jack hammer on that horse

  • This is pretty much the same test she rode at WEG... *disappointed*

  • People ... Stop talking only about rollkur. If the horses didn't like it, they don't do all figures. Hello? Someone here forgot that horses are intelligent animals...

    Sorry for my English ;)

  • they dont have a snowballs chance in hell to say no to the cruelty, they just wear out and die

  • i have to say horses are intelligent BUT they want to do anything and yes she is riding rollkur... ad horses want to do anything i have ridden a horse who does rollkur And they try theyr best and doanything you want because they are scared of more hurt and thats why they do it and if they dont do the Spor will come into their sides and that is very very painful

  • wait a moment now...... The dressage riders have spurs so they dont have to move their legs that much and they can give SOFTER pressure by their legs.... If horse was scared, he would never be so relaxed, as you can see in video.... If you spend enough time with horses, you will recognize stressed or scared horse by first look...I should know, i do dressage..... easier tough.... I wish I could be as good as that women in video...

  • look, she how she uses her spurs, it hurts you can see, i am freetime rider, and i think its scared to see the horses in dressage, you dont see it, you can only see it by the look in the eyes of a dressagehorse, my horse ever wants to be perfect at all so she dont shows if she dont likes it but i can see it and dont tell me a horse have fun at rollkur or anything like that, a rider is good, if it can rides withot spurs etc even without saddle or anything only the horse.. thats good riders

  • Everyone can ride without saddle or even without bridle, its easy. What is hard is kur. I am working with horse who has experienced bad use of spurs. In the start, when he felt legs, he would roar up and want go. Its 2 years of work now, and its way better. But it was really really hard work. And 1 year of girl riding him badly was enough to ruin him. Do you thing dressage riders change their horses every year?

  • do you think dressagerider, want to ride them after their career??? No, then its not important to ride a horse correctly, I broke my leg 8 weeks ago and its hard to ride now, my horse was riding very bad, she did rollkur, and wasnt riding for 3 years now shes 22 and its very hard to get it away..

and if you only ride for dressage, it isnt riding, i ride dressage, woods everything and now i know whats riding is, i watched my friend, she isnt good at all, because she wanted to ride dressage

  • i am just pointing out that good dressage horses stay very long in their career... So they cant be treated that badly as you say...And who the hell said that their riders doesnt care about them after they end? Thats the biggest shit i have ever heard.... And if you think that the horse in the video in scared or stressed, that you are blind or dont understand horses at all. And, just between us, Salinero is a famos dressage horse for already 6 or 7 years... So he must be treated veeeeery badly.

  • you dont understand what i mean, you dont know the hard habbits in dressage, because would you know you wouldnt tell that bullshit, dont you read the newspaper or dont you see the truth????? Tell me, witch big dressagehorse you know who the career is ended???? no, because iof the career is good the horse is good, and is the career ending noone knows the horse anymore, thats the truth. the horse i rode on saterday hasnt looked shocked or anything in a very bad situation

  • well, but that is the same with people doing a sport.... thats just how life goes. Its not any bad acting against horses...

  • BUT if you doing sports like tennis or anything you hurt yourself not the self of other.

You are lying at yourself, please dont you see???? its time to fakt the truth, she isnt a good rider or anything like that, she is useing the bite wrong you only have to take a look on that, how she trains her horses, that is bad acting against horses.. they are animals no machines

  • i still love this horse. . . but he jus looks like hes about to blow up the whole may through the programme . . . mab something happened that set him on his toes cuz he jus didn't relax and give it his best at all.

and as for people sayin that his time has come and gone,i tink thats bullshit. i love both him and totilas there jus two different types of horses. salinero has more experience ad balance, when i was watchin totilas you could tell a mile away he was the younger of the two horses

  • Ma préférence à moi ♥

  • get over yourself all of you this is the 3 time olympic champion youre looking at, not to mention 9 time world cup champion! grow up

  • Yep, the 3 time olympic champion uses the cruel method of ROLLKUR to create harmony and oneness with her horses - greattt!

Ever read the RULES of the FEI rulebook? about time some of the riders, judges and officials of the FEI read them don't you think?

Just take a look at any video of Walter Zettl, Thomas Ritter, Reiner Klimke, Sylvia Loch - training their horses with kindness and sympathy and just LOOK at their results!! Rollkur training must be banned now at all Competitions venues!

  • banrollkur - dont be such a twat! This is the modern way of training and it is not cruel what so ever. Maybe if you dont like it then you shouldnt watch it

  • So you're saying that if something is Cruel, just look the other way and ignore it?! very interesting, seems to be the same policy at the FEI at the moment!

How do you work out that it is NOT cruel ? I would be interested in your reasons.

The FEI rules insist on Harmony, respect for the horse and slow training - which you cannot possibly say that Rollkur follows!

  • read philippe karls book and gert heushmans

    roll kur is abuse

  • Les lacs du connemaras- Michèl Sardou

  • Hello, what is the song at 2:36 ???

  • This performance was nowhere near as good as Adelinde or Gal's performances with Parzival or Totilas. Salinero looked to me a little worn, and the performance was the same as it has been for the past few years... -_- how boring. again we see to much negative tension in salinero with his panic attack from the first salute, look at Totilas, he has positive tension..its moving him forward and he looks willing and like hes enjoying it. Salinero looks a bit "ohh...this again...yikes!" ? my opinion :)

  • I agree... but no one can deny he was an amazing dressage horse.. i just think he is nearing his time.. and co no longer compete with the younger horses coming in.

  • yeah i agree, in his hay day he was good, but i guess dressage has moved on and horses like parzival and totilas are surpassing his results?

  • Completely agree, but he is such a performer.. you can tell he loves his work. shame he is older now

  • No, salinero might not have the knee action like totilas or parzival but anky achieves the "oness" with him and looks more in sinc with her horse than anyother

  • nahh i disagree, i dont think she looks in sync any where near as much as totilas or parzival or even minstral hojris for that matter. sorry, opinion clash hehe :)

  • I'm not sure why, but i don't find this horse very nice. Not in a Temperment way But in a Conformation/The way he holds himself way. (If you get my drift) Just my personal opinion. but to me Anky has very little control, She could hardly stop him in the halt. He is definatly Rollkur trained. you can see it in his back ( Hollow) and he isn't engaged. Moorlands totilas is much better/Happier/Nicer to watch :)

  • totally agree with you :)

  • I agree with you on this, he just looks clumsy. Idk if it's his long ears and choppy movement, but he looks like a clown to me. I also agree that he is not totally engaged, his neck may be arched, but his back is flat.

  • Moorlands Totilas is also rollkur trained.

  • Well said!! The question does it foster the happy athlete? I think the answer has to be no!!

  • This horse is rollkur "trained". Rollkur IS detrimental to the horse. It causes ossificaion of the ligament at the first cervical vertebrae, it stiffens the back and locks the lumbar, it disengages the hindquarters so the joints cannot flex to take the strain of the work being asked. Because of this, rather than the training enhancing the paces and increasing the working life of the horse they are destroying the natural paces and along with it the horse.

  • am anfang die gruß aufstellung un jegtz zum schluss die gruß aufstellung am anfang nicht stehend un jetz musste sie das pferd richtig biegen das er steht was is das denn bitte für eine ach soo tolle reiterin echt es tut mir leid aba was soll sowas undafür 87,250 zugewben is zuviel echt bitte aba viel zu viel !!!!

  • Good Rosje (:

  • î hate it how she ride ! it don't have nothing with nice riding in common

  • I Love Anky (:

  • Me too

  • Why don't I Hyperflex your neck...then you can tell me how "Wonderful" it feels! Hello...This is not dressage people... THIS IS CALLED TRICK RIDING!... I don't know if it is even fair to call it that. It is more like a money making enterprise at the HORSE"S expense. Here let me do everyone a favor....Ready....Here are just a few "Classicists" : Anja Beran Walter ZettlEgon Von NeindorfReiner KlimkePhillipe KarlCharles De KnuffyArthur KottasPaul BelasikNuno Olivera

  • what a great performance !

  • Salinero it's beautiful like ever and this kur it's also the same of the Athens Olympic Games 2004....... But I hate Rollkur method...Classical dressage only way!!

  • Comment removed

  • she is unable to hold her horse back and she is unable to make it still-standig for a few seconds.

it is worse that these people are still in the front, and she isnt even talented either elegant - she is simply terrible, in every cases of riding.

  • Oh and you mean only because Edward's doing it as well it's okay? It's against everything what (classical) riding is standing for and it is animal torture.

  • btw apparently hyperflexion isnt bad for them (im not sayin its good but its not TORTURE)

  • i'm distracted by the fact that he doesn't stand still almost at all!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Fantastic horse with the most elegant and talented rider.

  • Thank you so much fo uploading this!
