  • Well, I can tell you right off that they are riding on the wrong side of the road. Ride on the right and get some really loud mufflers. That's how we do it here :-)

  • @Miata822 I will be back in Normandy in April 2012 for some Ride on the Right filming and I might have a new exhaust can fitted by then.....

  • Advanced my ass...

  • what the is with the begining lmao

  • the positive side of motorcycling

  • OH SHIT. Thats just up the road from where I live :O

  • 24x7x365 pain, worse with any walking.

She walked away - I thank G*d every day.

    My point?

    NEVER GET CONFIDENT.

MOST CRITICAL: Make damn sure you know your passenger, think with the BIG head.

Me? I'll NEVER ride another passenger, EVER.

With pass, ONLY option is "try to ride it out."

150k+ miles on bikes, several wipeouts but none serious.

One stupid moment with one "panic-attack" woman, life changes forever.

You're NEVER too good 4 instruction, Nigel should get some to help his blind-spots.

  • I've seen your comments saying you've learned this lesson - BUT...

    YOU RIDE TOO D@#N CLOSE!

I'd pull over 2 ask you 2 back off, then refuse to ride with you if you did it again.

I've not ridden for ~2 years. 7/02,passenger panicked, took us down. Skidding across center-line, I planted foot & kicked us back into our lane @ ~60mph.

Tibial-plateau shattered. Near amputation, living on narcotics since.

Total knee replaced 3/08 @ age 42, bad result, crippled.

    24x7 pain.

Would ride NOW if I could

  • @dedicateddad Have you ever looked into the Can Am Spyder?

  • @Vape4life Interesting!

I could *PROBABLY* control the bike, my problem is pain. ANY activity makes it worse.

Night of accident Docs wanted to amputate - I refused.

Doc said "you'll regret this" - he was RIGHT.

I see people run marathons on a stump, I can't walk to the bathroom w/o pain.

NOW I *WANT* them to amputate, so NATURALLY they won't.

I still hope for a fix, if not, well - I can fix it so they have no choice but to amputate what's left.

This option keeps me from eating a gun some days...

  • I am an instructor myself, i was not trying to be disrespectful only my humble opinion:)

Can i ask, do you make the driver aware of his mistakes-what can be corrected or perfected- at the end of the day? I do, hoping that they know it is trying to help them, make sure they are aware sort of speak. I love to watch your videos though, i love to learn new things EVERY day! :) Safe miles!

  • @Draslay31 - Youtube is an open forum for me and all comments are welcome. For me the course satrts with the initial contact and then the rider is sent via e-mail a sel evaluation form. I nee t find out any good or weak areas of their riding. When we meet up then I can see if the form is true to form. During the day they are given debriefs, but with bike to bike comms feedback is instant and recorded. I tend to debrief and encourage as we ride along.

  • with all do respect, the instructor keeps driving BEHIND the person in front of him, a good driver keeps switching his position in his lane to observe as MUCH AS POSSIBLE!! Smooth = SAFE!

  • @Draslay31 - I can see where you are coming from, but this vid is just a small section of the project the student did. I let him do anything so he could make the project, I only provided the on road footage

  • if he's entering too fast, couldn't he resolve the error by lightening up on the throttle?

    -scooter rider, Honda Elite 150cc

  • the start is epic

  • Nigel is a GOD

  • Great advice elalis thanks

  • C'mon guys, this is teaching your average rider technique.

This is a wonderful program and the man obviously enjoyed himself. Getting assesed by other people means the truth.

Taking corners outside in. That's all you need to know.

  • this is kinda funny

  • Hi george...hi I'm george !

  • I wouldn't want anyone, let alone an advanced instructor riding that close to the back of my bike. Well done chaps. You've just encouraged me to go elsewhere for my advanced training.

  • I am always willing to learn....

  • hi george im george alright george yeah alright gegorge alright yeah im darren lol

  • lol 5 or 6 times "alright" was said witin the first 4 or 5 seconds

  • lol he says "hi george" then the other say says "im george" lol

  • Ok,

I knew him, ths was done by a student as his project for college...

  • i know i just thought it was funny lol

  • riding to close to center line ....roads look very narrow ...the side of the roads are blocked ...looks like riding in tunnel..how more pees are not killed over there is unreal..

  • it's the advanced riding that teaches you to hug the centre of the road, which is all very well until some fuckin boy racer or pensioner comes round the bend on the wrong side of the road

  • watch out! ur on the wrong side of the road! jk, im from the us

  • absolute TOILET!!!

  • As a rider in Western Australia i am inexperienced at such cornering as the roads here are so bloody straight,so the tips on here are very usefull as a guide, keep up the good posts

  • looks good

  • Just my last comment here. When you all ride, Please learn bike control and know what you yourself are capable of. Do NOT exceed your own capabilities. Observation is critical. Never take something for granted or trust any other road user. Try and know at all times where other road users are. Scan road surface and never focus on one thing. Most people end up steering at what they look at. Practise your braking and learn coutersteering. Your AWARENESS and WILLING to LEARN MORE will make you safe.

  • Thanks for the comments, they are appeciated...

    Merry Christmas

    Nigel

  • Thanks nigel. Merry christmas to you and to all. Just a short message to all bikers who read this. Please take extra care when riding. Aswell as the weather conditions this time of year. There allways tends to be idiots who will drink and drive.

  • I have never taken an advanced motorcycle course but i have been riding for 12 years. I do not rekon i could learn anything from a course like this. I have rode fast in the past and it requires looking very far ahead with observation and being very smooth. I believe when you can ride fast you become much smoother. When i first started riding i never had confidence in myself or the machine but over time i have become as one. Good observation is the one thing that allows for fast and safe riding.

  • When I say I couldn't learn anything from one of these courses. I mean the course was written and designed by people with common sense. If you have proper common sense you should do everything on here anyway. Observation is the most important part of riding. I self taut myself bike control, road positioning and I think for everyone else too. I never trust anyone or take anything for granted. I may yet join some advanced riders sometime in the future and access how they ride and vica verca.

  • I am so envious of your type"born bikers"- although at one stage you do let slip that you were at our mere mortal standards. I bet, if you really wanted, you could fly a plane or become a surgeon specializing in frontal lobotomies- once you have completed the self tests-your communication/typing skills are looking fine so far

  • You can do anything when you put your mind to it. I never had no self confidence in the machine because it was all new and I didn't know what it was capable of or myself. Its best to slowly develop yourselve over time rather than thinking you can do something. Yes I have flown a plane and a helicopter too. Model ones so far. lol. Set them up myself without help too. I think saftey first and do a lot of reasearch before I act. What is a profesional and who is to say they are proffesional.

  • We all have limitations, its knowing our own limitations that matters. We can all improve but how far can you personally improve. I have been riding bikes for more than 12 years but I do double or triple the average miles and really enjoy riding. I read magazines and listen to what others have to say and put what i learn into practise. Who were the people that invented the advanced course in the first place, who trained them ? Most people I see on the road do not read ahead very well.

  • The courses are accumulation of experience and knowledge from hundreds of people. There is much to be said for large knowledge bases; sometimes one person's 12 years of experience misses very subtle important information that could save you a leg or spine. I would always opt for the accumulated learnings of hundreds over my slow and sometimes "by mistake" learning. You, though, did say you read and talked to others therefore learning from others as well.

  • I have had most of my knowledge i've learned has been from my dad who has had more than 50 years experience. I have read racers books and they can become a life saver. Everyone is taut to drive slow and are not taut proper machine control. When you take a test, your Not shown how to countersteer and your let loose on the road with too little bike control. Safety is number one in my eyes and im allways looking for the unexpected. My dads friend done one of these courses and never learnt nothing ?

  • He did an advanced course and was better than the police instructor. He said it was a complete waste of time. Maybe there are too many people with licenses that shouldn't even have passed. The standards are too low. I'm not one of the people that thinks im god. I don't ride 100% of my capabilities. I ride with reserve. It's the riders that don't do this is the danger. I corner to what I can see and not what I'm capable of. I don't trust any juction or put trust in others. I'm a defensive rider.

  • Going too slow can be dangerous. It's a case of fitting in with everyone else. When I spot an idiot driver, I get well away from them. Slow drivers are mostly idiots. They arn't aware of the dangers and their attention is not put into their driving. They start fiddling with the cd/player and turn a corner so slowly and make others behind bunch up. They are not aware of others. This is the problem, they lack awarenesss for themselves and for others. I personally try to be informative to others.

  • I try to let them know what I shall be doing and I want to know what they will do but never take indicators for granted. I know that I or any bike rider cannot afford to make a mistake. On a race track we can. For the road we just need to understand how to react to all surroundings and situations. Control is a massive part, which isn't taut properly. When I drive I constantly ask myself, what if someone comes out of that juction, What will I do ? I plan ahead to how I would react.Safety concious

  • Some people lack confidence in machine control. some lack abilities to read ahead and scan their surroundings. With just one day on a race track it could transform some of these riders. When he says to line the bike up to a corner by going in slow. The speeds they are traveling at are not fast enough for this to become an issue. With slight countersteering input and a bit more throttle you can glide into the bends at these speeds effortously. All im saying is people don't know their own machines

  • all right no u do your cbt now

  • I have a feeling that I would fail

  • i passed my advanced test

  • Just an observation Sir, your videos are the best on here, very good information and im using your lines more and more now in my own riding keep up the good work.

    kindest regards jbmck.

  • when you stopped the first time , and were moving off again, he did not do a life saver as he pulled out from the area you had stopped in,

  • I'll give you that one.... We had only been going45 minutes and he is not an advanced rider.

  • not an advanced rider? whats the got to do with doing a simple life saver. the life saver is the vital thing the biker is taught on their lessons, unless of course you meant soemthign else.
