  • This is what a beautiful woman looks like! Truly amazing.

  • Fred said that Rita was his favorite dance partner. She learned her steps faster than the other partners. And what a dish! Thank goodness we can still see these beautiful and talented performers. What a shame that society, in general, has lost the concept of grace, charm, manners, clean wit, decorum, and all of the other sappy sentiments that made these movies so great and easy to relate to and aspire to.

  • Many people think Rita was a model and an actress that learned how to dance for the movies. Wrong. She was a hoofer from the time she was a little girl, and she was extremely talented. She also just happened to be extremely beautiful. She still takes my breath away. Dancers like Rita, Ginger, and Fred, learned how to dance from a very young age and worked hard at it. They also had a lot of talent. They were also very original and innovative. A far cry from what we have nowadays.

  • beautiful :)

  • Oh Yeah, beautiful Rita!! What a sad way she passed on with the very 1st case of Alzheimers ever recorded. She, MOST DEFINITELY, is one of the most beautiful women God has ever graced upon this earth; even to this day!!

  • SO THIS ARE THE MARIAH CAREYS SONG N VIDEO ORIGINS :::::IM THINKING OF YOUUUUU IN MY SLEEPLESS SOLITUDE TONIGHT IF ITS WRONG 2 LOVE YOU THEN MY HEART JUST WONT LET ME BE RIGHT CUS IM DROWNED IN YOU AND I WONT PULL THROUGH WITHOUT YOU BY MY SIDE!!! ..................RITA CAN YOU FEEL ME ? IMAGINING IM LOOKING IN YOUR EYES I CAN SEE YOU CLEARLY , VIVIDLY EMBLAZONED IN MY MIND AND YET YOU ARE SO FAR LIKE A DISTANT STAR IM WISHING ON TONIGHT
  • BELLEZA TOTAL

  • Wonderful!

  • I'm so in love with Fred Astaire

  • She's not as comfortable as Ginger..Rita dances a bit stiff,but she's good

  • @dakotahstr Ritas a better actor and ginger is a better dancer they each have there own talant

but they have one thing in common BEAUTY

  • Fred did pretty well for himself after a producer first meeting him said "Can't act or sing, balding, can dance a little" !!! And Rita--she had to climb up the ladder too. But they were talented stars and rose to the top! Beatiful rumba dance!

  • I never knew Fred and Rita could speak another language?

  • Thats one pretty girl, don't even think most of todays models / moveistars can hold up to what we see here

  • @Wartechie She can't even hold up to herself, considering her looks come from plastic surgery...

  • @thebuddhamonkey might wanna elaborate on that. 'plastic surgery' makes it sound like she changed her entire face. the ppl at columbia just accentuated her forehead/ hairline. regardless it's not even like her forehead's her best feature. all that makes her so beautiful---- her eyes, lips, etc. are her own.

  • @thebuddhamonkey Don't be an ass. All she had done was her hairline move up a bit.

  • take a look at Fred Astair, he feels something dancing with Rita Hayworth. She really could dance. Fred and Ginger were great but it was more like work for him.

  • Rita said there were only two movies she liked of the ones she made. They were the ones she made with Fred. She called them her jewels. The others she laughed at. Sadly, she began to drink because of the pressures put on her by her abusive husbands, the studeo, keeping her daughter in the US, not remembering her lines. She was misdiagnosed as an alcoholic, but they found out she had Alzheimer's disease, and she died at age 68. What a lose for us.

  • it just doesn't look right i mean nothing against rita fans and of course fred is amazing as usual but it just doesn't look right without ginger.....idk about this one!

  • Rita Hawyworth must have been visiting from Heaven, because she is

    an Angel to behold.

  • HEAVEN...

  • Love this ! If anyone gets the chance check out Dave lennard he is a great new performer

  • Well these gals from the old movies, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, etc are so feminine, graceful, classy, with childlike innocence in their seductive roles so different from today's actresses that are just the opposite. Rita is just smashingly beautiful to watch, like a real live princess!

  • @angelialvares I agree with you

  • I'd like to have her dress,it looks just stunning!!!

  • Now I know why andy dufreyne wanted a rita Hayworth poster

  • Rita, so eternally beautiful !

  • 0:21 - Not a problem. I'll be just as happy to kiss that shoulder.

  • thank you..I love it i love it..i adore it:)

  • I also love that dress. I have this movie on my laptop and I was watching this scene just the other day. I love the way the dress moves. Rita doesn't have an autobiography, but Ginger does. She explains how it's essential for her that the dresses she wears for performances like this are gorgeous yet easy to move in. Look at this dress Miss Hayworth has on. It moves perfectly and it's gorgeous! You know, reading books and watching movies about this era really gives you an appreciation of it.

  • Ginger was Fred's best dancing partner, but Rita moved better than Ginger. Though she only had 2 movies with Fred Astaire and a few performances with him, she's right up there with Ginger.

  • @chilvari Love Ginger & Rita. Eleanor Powell was the best female dancer of that time period. In Fred's autobiography she was the one he said that intimidated him. You should look her up on YT. She was called the queen of tap.

  • @ivegottaheadache you're absolutely right! I just watched one of her perfomances with Fred and she's really light on her feet and she's definetly got rhythm. Thanx :)

  • timeless quality

  • Class and quality are eternal.

  • I wish I found someone capable of replicating this dress for my senior prom last year I only had her soft waves down :( oh wells

  • That dress! It has a halo about it.

  • for people who know latin & ballroom etc., please tell me what type of music that was? the words Carioca and Samba comes to mind, but I think neither of them is right. Is it a rumba?

  • there is something intrinsically appealing about their motion and the music involved. Some things don't require time or context to be of value.

  • "I'd say that what you call "old soul" is rather a fresh and lively spirit, and that's why a three-year-old little girl likes these sort of videos so much."

Think about it this way- for all she knows, this could have come out last month. This could be what is popular now. She hasn't been spoiled yet...

  • Aren't we all mesmerized?? Oh to go back in time!!

  • thank you for post this video they're wonderful!

  • glory days will never return , what happened , such style and class , i hope their will be a rebirth of talent and music , thank you wonderful AAAAA++++++++++

  • me encantaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • 0:20 - 0:25.

My heart skips a beat every time I see that face.

  • @OneZeroFour104 Truely a beauty

  • Seen this delightful part of the movie for the first time has triggered in me such beatiful feelings. The choreography is so perfect and sinchronized, their movements are seamless, as if some magician were moving his magic wand, describing their paths in a symphony continuoum of love.

  • Clean dancing

  • She was so beautifull

  • C'est génial. L'élégance, la grâce, le talent pur, la beauté, la musique. Mmmmm j'adore ça !!!!

  • Scarlett Johansson reminds me a touch of Rita. They have some similar features.

  • @yazfaz You mean two eyes and one mouth.

  • Her dress is delightful!

  • Wow! Rita Hayworth is so gorgeous. What a gown, what gams, what a babe!

  • hi guyz in what year they make this movie ??

  • She's good, but hardly Fred's best dancing partner. Far too assertive. Not as lithe as Ginger, nor can she hold she hold a candle to the great Cyd Charisse...

  • @Josefesque have to disagree with you

  • Rita is my favorite of all time! Wow She rocks my world

  • Rita is my favorite of all time!

  • fred is so goooood

  • Journalist Eirc Felten refers to this song in the article When Cuba Invaded America, published by the Wall Street Journal.

  • essa rita era linda mesmo...

  • fred astaire always said rita hayworth was his favorite dance partner. you can tell by watching this piece of art.

  • Rita was so goregeous! Wow, she puts the modern actresses to shame!

  • Just look at them glide across the floor and I LOVE her dress!

  • Godawful lyrics and wonderful dancing.

  • Nothing against Ginger, but if Rita Hayworth had been her age, it would have been Astaire-Hayworth. What a knockout.

  • I'm here with my three year old daughter watching these old videos. She loves them...I think she is an old soul and has been here before. She only wants to watch old Lindy hop videos and Fred Astaire. It's like she's mesmerized by it all, she doesn't talk or move, she just watches. I'm 28 and have never seen these movies before, and my three year old has me watching them. She wants me to buy the movies lol

  • @zora914 That is the sign you've been waiting for. Put her in Ballet classes! Let her keep watching these old movies, and ballets.

  • @zora914 that's beautiful!

  • @zora914 I'd say that what you call "old soul" is rather a fresh and lively spirit, and that's why a three-year-old little girl likes these sort of videos so much. It may not be widely appreciated as of 2010, but the fact that something was produced 24 hours ago doesn't make it fresh and new, not at least in terms of art.

  • @zora914 --I love it!!! Good for you for letting your daughter watch : )

  • @zora914 I just discovered this myself and my 3 year came in and started dancing immediately when she saw it. She mimicked their moves and just loved it. I love it too!

  • @zora914 Well, that's really nice so I hope you do!

  • @zora914 Your daughter is amazing and very special! Fred Astaire is a great role model--maybe she'll become a dancer--only if she wants to, of course. Old soul!!

  • @zora914 Listen to your child! :-) I grew up watching these old movies and she's absolutely right!

  • @zora914 this has to do with reincarnation!

  • In those days men looked like men and women looked like women. The trouble with society today is that both sexes appear to have metamorphosed and often you can't tell who's what.

  • @baabaagreensheep wow! I used to say that in the 60s.

  • The most sensuous partner Fred Astaire ever had. With RH, there's a sense of sex in the dance.

  • God she's so gorgeous! And as Graceful as can be!

  • absolutely amazing, if this isnt PERFECTION on the floor - nothing is. Watching the masters in action, true inspiration !!

  • Oh, wow!! <3

    Simply amazing :)

  • I honestly believe that the power America gained after WWII destroyd her...this is America before the war...nd today is America after it...and yet she really could have gained the dream...

  • What a gem.

  • See this is what i call real talent,,,not the one people do today....when you see her dancing is like an angel flying effortless in the sky...and Fred Staire,,well i dont comment,,,not necessary to say ..is unique.

Today's aspiring actress at leats should see what a real talent...elegance and ingeniosity is RIta at the best.

  • Watch the Film ' GREEN MILE ' and this is on the Film love that film great moving ..... moment I'm in heaven ...i'm in heaven ' Classic . Wish i could dance like him ....

  • love her. :) the first classic actress I liked and learnt about... that also started me liking classic stars.

  • OMG she was so beautiful and had such talent ! Maddona eat your heart out !

  • i adore rita hayworth.

  • I wish Hollywood would be like this again. REAL talent and beauty.

  • HAHAHAHA. I was so thrown off when they started speaking in Spanish. I was DEFINITELY not ready for that. Lmao.

  • @swimmersuga Lol, is that a mistake or part of the movie? =P

  • @FaeryRibbon I have no idea haha. It was so random.

  • Stunning. Watching the effortless beauty like their dance, you can only think of words like "class", "elegance" and "grace" to describe it.

  • Art so brilliantly perfect it looks artless, makes an ingenious fantasy seem real. Surreally lovely; they swing yet float.

  • Beautiful woman and great actress.. And she could dance. I mean dance that would put Michale Jackson and all those wanabe to shame. She had class.

LIke all beautiful women from Spain :) I also found out today that actors Humprey Bogart and Joan Bennett had Spanish background too. I cant wait to visit Spain in two weeks.

  • Today's Hollywood is like today's cars: plastic cheap shit and all look SAME !!!

  • well, hollywood sucks now with his stupid disney stars

  • Fred Astaire dancing has magic and dancing with the right partner made it magical! he is missing his special something , he is missing ginger rogers!!!!

  • Cyd is 1000 times better than Rita..

  • @lucysd1983 -it's not a question of comparing, just enjoying the beauty and talent in each of them...

  • They move so perfectly together it's so beautiful

  • Youngins take note. These are legends!! This is how it's done. Geesshhhh I am 37 and I wish that even my generation took notes from these great artists. How did they make the picture look so flawlessly beautiful? Wow!!!

  • Fred Astaire was and always will be the best dancer ever to perform on this earth. Rita stays up with him and even complements him with her dancing greatness. I thank the person who posted this. Because of people like than we are still able to enjoy to greatness of yesterday.

  • Fred and Rita are the two most talented dancers that ever dance together. They had the God given talent and worked very hard to be this good. I was born many years after this film but I appreciate almost as well as if I would have been there. It is ironic that they passed away the same year in 1987. May they both rest in peace.

  • Hollywood is now only CGI and new world order propaganda!

  • i can't even~

    BRILLIANCE

  • Breathtakingly beautiful - and all filmed in one take ! Sheer perfection !!!

  • @Inger49 --exactly, in one take! and the music, think of those days....all of them together: Kern, Arlen, the Gerswhins, Porter, Rogers / Hart, Mercer....all the songs different, each tune unique, no common-place music, elegance.....wow...

  • it just feels like actors and actresses back in the day had to have a number of talents...not just acting, but everything in the entertainment world like dancing and singing. now-a-days even acting sometimes isn't required...they were true entertainers during those times. too bad ppl of my generation don't get this kind of beautiful and quality entertainment.

  • @atoreta88 Agreed.

  • All dance number in one take... pfffiuuu

  • American Classics!

  • ...So they think they can dance??? :D Marvelous1!!!

  • He was as light as pop corn and she danced very very well !!!!!!!

  • Film is from 1941. Fred is 20 years older than Rita. He has called her his favorite dance partner. From this clip you can see why. SHE makes him look good and always did but did so without making him look bad.

  • If ever the word CLASS meant something...

  • The oh so gorgeous Rita Hayworth and the underated singer and superlative dancer Fred Astaire! Ty Ty for the post:)

  • that is owned or licensed by Warner Bros. Entertainment.

  • Looking at the video its also interesting to note that as a dancer she takes a lot of compression to lead. Her professional dance training can also be seen in the fact that she 'spots' on the spins.

  • Rita Casino was trained from the age of 3 in Flamenco dance by her grandfather who was regarded as the finest exponent of his generation. She was performing on stage and in clubs in Mexico from the age of 15.

She was actually a more professionally trained and experienced dancer than Fred Astaire.

    She's not 'Latin American' - she's Spanish.

  • @HunterstonB She was born in New York so she's American and was a mix of Spanish, English and irish.

  • Rita Casino was indeed a US citizen - but she was trained from an early age in the traditional Spanish flamenco style and she established herself as a dancer in Mexico, not the USA.

She changed her name and underwent plastic surgery to make hersefl look more 'Anglo'

Whatever her social and career ambitions her dance and cultural antecedents were Spanish and Latin American rather than North American 'Anglo'

  • @MegaBrand101 --this just confirms that, as with wines, good blends bring about astounding results! :)

  • Awsom talents......None to be found today.....

  • Someone has taken this clip and attached "Hungry Eyes" from Dirty Dancing. It is amazing!!! There is no singing, just beautiful dancing. I miss the stars from those times...I wish we had them back.

  • she was a proFessional dancer, unlike others...

  • Fred as always mesmerized me, since I was young. I love to watch him move...

  • Merveilleux

  • In Him was Life andthe Life was the Light of men. John 14

  • Rita Hayworth, a mulher mais linda que já existiu.

  • DEEElightful. I could watch them dance all day. Two of my favorites.

  • My God... What a beautiful dress!!!!

I wish I had a boyfriend like fred...

  • i wish i could have lived in the those times. such beautiful movies, stars, music, clothing. rita hayworth is absolutely beautiful, natural beauty no stupid plastic surgery like celebrities now.

  • Where could I find this grace, beauty, class and elegance these days ...?

Oh, God, let that beautyfull time come back. Fred and Rita: I adore you, you were and are the best dancing couple of all times ... Thanks wthte for this fragment.

  • That's the most beautiful dress i've ever seen!

Needless to say how great this number is... but i say it anyway.

  • Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth were the best dancing team ever not Astaire and Ginger Rodgers. Fred and Rita danced beautifully together. I could watch them dance all day long.

  • Rita Hayworth is so gorgeous

  • Fred Astaire was the epitome of style and grace; and Rita Hayworth was one of the sexiest women ever to grace the screen. That smile of hers... wow.

  • SPANISH?!

  • @xxcandiedapples she was Puerto Rican and they used electrolosis to make her hairline more like an european white woman ,dyed it reddish and told her to stay out of the sun as she would go too dark!Same colouring as Eva Mendes but they were very racist then. She make todays stars look like cleaners!

  • She was half Spanish..dad spanish, mom irish/english. Born in NY.

I think you confused her with Rita Moreno.

  • @rloeb

Yeah, she wasn't Puerto Rican, but I read that she did have the hairline thing done to look more anglo, and also had problems in her first films becuase she looked too ethnic.

  • aw i love this so much...fred singing to rita and rita sitting there like an angel..then their dancing, and what i love most is rita moving her hips the way she does, i'm dying everytime i see that :D i love her so much :).

  • i enjoyed this video it's really beautiful..thanks

  • @pambazo55 jajajaja --excelente comentario! sds desde Bs As

  • simplemente the best!

  • Margarita Cansino

    Now THAT was a star!

  • REAL stars and REAL DANCING!

  • @hornybodhisattva The Hiltons, Britanys and Brangelinas would've starved to death back then...no talent, no paycheck.

  • @ecsgrl lol. well said.

  • @hornybodhisattva so true !!

  • gorgeous

  • WOW!!Just Made My Day*****Nice Dance*Have A Great Day Everyone!Slas**:)**

  • Is there someone as gorgeous as Rita Hayworth? If so, please mary me! :-D

  • I think that to a certain point she carries the weight of the performance. She was firstly dancer than an actress and her father who was a famous flamenco dancer taught her. You can notice a hint of flamenco in her mannerism.

  • Urocze i magiczne: taniec, śpiew, muzyka. No i uroda Rity. Wracam tu bardzo często!

  • Fantastic, but God! - why does all Spanish dubbing seem to use the same two voice actors?

  • One more comment and then I promise to shut UP....I like to look at this video every couple of months. Check out the wry look that comes over RH's face when FA sings,"no wonder I'm a bit under par".. It's like, she's thinking to herself, "Yeah...riiiiiight.""I think was excellent as an actress and a "reactress"".

  • marvelous dancing......but dang it all, my favorite parts of this clip are still the shots of RH sitting there being sung to by FA and tthose close ups of her face at the beginning. PS I'll have to remember that term "adultescent because I fit in that category too sometimes.

  • this is magic

  • Of all of great Fred's great dance partners, Rita Hayworth is my favorite. They are so perfect together onscreen, acting , as well as dancing. They brought out something special in each other.

Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Gorgeous number, and I want Rita's dress! And her allure, and her red hair, and her dance partner...

  • Great! I have seen Fred million times but this is the first time I saw Rita dance!! She's marvellous! They should have made more films together.

I wonder if Rita could speak Spanish herself (here she's dubbed) She was of Spanish origin after all.

  • Rita did speak some Spanish but her mother tongue was English - so of course she understood the teachers!

How dare you write such crap!

  • No, how dare YOU write such crap. I watched an interview with her and SHE said it herself. Whether she is lying I cannot say, but I think you need to bite your mother tongue.

  • Oh, really? Which interview, when was that please? Anything to back up your "claims"?

  • What a lame reply/excuse, plus making it personal, but it's actually just what I expected. There are really not many interviews with Rita and you can be sure that I know those that are available.

The reason why I called it crap is because it doesn't make any sense and it was your comment that sounds condescending - as if you don't like Rita and rather tried to ridicule her. That's why I interfered. Maybe you're just confusing Rita with somebody else. It could be as simple as that.
