My buddy and I know the beauty of this song on our own time...but sometimes, in a bar full of assholes, we'll plug this in the jukebox and it goes the whole 33 minutes or whatever. Hilarious prank. The bartenders usually don't skip it. Probably b/c it'd be "uncool" to do so. But it creates a horridly awkward tension between the patrons.

This is a brilliant video. Congrats. It adds something new to the music. No need to have the musicians here at all. The driving background would have been fine on its own.
Genius. I'm not a misogynist. I love women on every level. But this piece really sums up what a lot of us men go tru. My partner has a really powerful mind. But when that mind decides to take its turn, I'm like that trumpet struggling to stay afloat on that maelstrom.
I'm not a jazz head per se. Something told me to check this sont tonight.
Jazz is one of the most extreme and hardcore genres of music that exists. Just listen to a jazzcore band called Naked City (heavily influenced by Miles Davis) and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
BTW, Bitches Brew is the album that totally changed my mind about jazz music. I used to think jazz was boring and lame then I heard this and it hit me like a Mack truck speeding down a highway.
i lvoe miles davis, theiloinius monk, orentte coleman, charles mingus, and i know im forgetting someone but besides that i've always found jazz to be just a bunch of guys who are good at playing an instrument showing off
Stop typing, just listen to the music. Let it blow through you. No more arguing over a language, no whining, no attacks. It's the internet, you could both be ninety year old great grandmothers, who cares? Let's just enjoy some hella good tunes.
This is powerful con-nect-ed music. It's much more spiritual than it seems. The connection with the Indian ragas gives this incredible depth, which goes back to the Indian philosophy schools. This music really is the modern version of the sacred mantra of the Shabdabrahman ('absolute sound').
**Hey, if you like this, you'll FLIP over my NEW VIDEO "Miles Davis - Birth of the Brew" (early early rehearsals, in a great presentation)... head over to my channel**

I don't get it. This was supposedly Radiohead's inspiration for Subterannean Homesick Alien but it doesn't sound like this at all.
annettecls 2 years ago
It's not the melody so much as the atmosphere that is similar.
Listen to the reverb, the "closed in" sound of everything. It's like it's all stuffed in a small room, and there's a controlled chaos throughout.
It's kind of unnerving if you fire it up and listen to it in the dark. It's very rich with "texture and mood" for lack of better descriptors.
Virility 2 years ago
@annettecls Actually, this song was the inspiration for 'Life In A Glasshouse'. Check it out and you will definetly see the influence :)

music is a language, unlike any other. For, it speaks to everyone the same. It is the universal language.
