Missile defense is a dangerous idea. It encourages the proliferation of nukes because the way to breach it would be with an overwhelming number of nukes. It is actually an OFFENSIVE weapon, in the same way that nukes are a DEFENSIVE weapon. Nobody is developing nukes to use them, they develop nukes so that they won't be attacked, we all know that. A working missile defense system would allow the US to attack countries that have developed nukes basically so the US won't attack them!

we have enough nukes to destroy every 1st world country a few times over so i don't think a cut in funding would be so terrible. over 50% of our nations taxes goes to military spending which is unaccounted for, so we have no idea where 50% of our tax money goes. until we get those numbers we have no reason to believe that our money is even going toward american programs

Pretty much the two deciding factors of war. Land forces are a joke when all you need is carpet bombing to fuck the entire opposing force.
Look at WWII, America's Air Force obliterated Germany's industries, which were being used to support their troops, which were then royally fucked when the Calvary came riding in.
Also, more troops=less gear and training.

You should check the history books and see that the world was different during the last major war. Since ww2 China's population has increased by 900 MILLION and is still growing. China nearly has the biggest economy in the world and will vastly exceed the US economy within 5 years. Check out the BRIC countries.

@BlackupKnight More troops does mean less gear and training..however i would choose 1.3 billion poorly trained soldiers over 300 million well trained soldiers any day. In WW2 the US had the technological advantage over almost all countries, the world has caught up since then. China, the production god of the world, would have no problem surpassing the US if there were an arms race. Wake up man, 10 years from now the US is taking a back seat to China and NEVER looking back. Scary, but a reality!
