  • lol did they photoshop his rolls off the album cover?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • The only thing I could say about this monstruosity is.......BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • I personally think this cover is pretty great and the vocals are actually good.

Covering is not copying music, is playing it the way you like.

    Good job, Malm.

  • How to ruin a great song. Covers. Chapter 4 on a YJM's guitar book.

  • Its Ripper Owens singing the guy who sang in Priest for a few years when Halford took a break

  • Maybe all you peoples with negative comments about Ywngie need to try and get to this level yourselves before being so critical .

  • @RaRproductions1000 Where is the "double thumbs up"-button?Exactly what I was thinking...

  • @RaRproductions1000 He might be technically fast but there's no feel to it. Just saying

  • awsome!!

    "hido-i "in japanese

  • this is a shitty cover , malmsteen might be fast at playing ( in my opinion he ain't that fast i prefer david shankle is faster and better with a clean and perfect technic ) but he lacks of feeling Van halen's solo is full of feeling and is1000 times better than this , malmsteen sucks plus he always does the same arpeggio .....

  • @ultimatemanofwar Agreed!! Malmsteens been flogging the same 10 or so licks he knows for over 20 years. Really boring shit, honestly. This version is as try hard as that corny album cover.

  • @ultimatemanofwar I agree with you one zillion percent!!! It is completely without feel and uninteresting.

  • Is it Yngwie singing?

  • @flaipss doubt it

  • Without the guitar masturbation in the intro and the crappy vocals, it could be a good cover...

  • ... and a large part of the rest are versions of other's stuff.

  • hilarious album cover, 'high impact' with him basically holding the guitar EXACTLY like a dick. Malmsteen has a place in music history but a good chunk of his stuff is fail

  • sounds kinda similar to every solo he's played since 1991

  • Malmsteen play too much guitar to this simple music.... the guitar solo is funny for his category, he dont know what to do, while he wait te time pass... because he is so fast.......is a joke, like a boy playing ps3.... lol

  • Way too distorted. The vocals was a disappointment.

  • All the noise and excessive notes in this song... It's like he's hiding something.

  • He took all the "gayness" off the song. Haha !

This song would have been better sang by David Lee Roth, man. My respects to Eddie Van Halen & Ynwie Malmsteen !

  • @Gonzarnr you're a moron

  • @22acaciaavenew Thank you ! You too, and your wonderful family as well !

  • metalfied

  • LOL Malmsteen's an inverted Midas: whatever he touches turns into SHIT.

  • Don't you tell me you're full

Just eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it

Get yourself an egg and beat it

Have some more chicken, have some more pie

It doesn't matter if it's boiled or fried

Just eat it, eat it, just eat it, eat it

Just eat it, eat it, just eat it, eat it, ooh

  • "It doesn't matter who's wrong or right" .. just opinion .. in that I'm right so BEAT IT! & this BEATS in the soul for sure :D

Take all the media s**t out of the whole Jackson story & judge the guy on his musical talent alone & most would say for his time in the POP world he was extremely talented; However if this version had been first you would never have heard his.

    This is AWESOME!

    BEAT IT! :*

Thanx for sharing a quality upload.

    Mysty :*

  • we all know dude is a great musician with own material but, Malmsteen is fucking going off with all the cover stuff! "WHATS FUCKING NEXT" its always awesome to give an old song a new twist, enhancing it to a metal genre! nothing beats that hard pounding sound that only metal can bring to the table! song is straight hooked up! So, can u BEAT IT!!!! \\\ M /// (<......

  • let Orianthi plays.. please... not malmsteen

  • @TheSerkanKorkmaz Dude please.. Orianthi has nothing on Malmsteen. Her guitar playing is sloppy as fuck..

  • penis, penis, no one wants to be the penis, just penis

  • Haters gonna hate. Malmsteen played the song in his own style and I think it came out great. Ripper's chorus could be better, but the guitar playing is fantastic.

  • Who's that Mike Jackson?. I don't care that movie. I'm still here for Mr. Malmsteen's songs. So leave me alone out with any other "genious of music".

  • Come on people this shit is bad fucking ass. Listen to that tasty ass solo and that random harmonized note in the middle of it.

  • Vaya manera de desgraciar un mito

  • I like Yngwie, but what the hell is this?

  • heavy as fuck. awesome.

  • i can tell he could mirror van halen's solo dead on if he wanted to. Listen closely (to the solo segment). No offence to anyone :)

  • horrible

  • This can't be Yngwie, I thought he made good music

  • sounds better with yngwie :) way to go YNGWIE

  • This is exactly why Michael Jackson got Eddie Van Halen instead of Yngwie. Yngwie would have just way overkilled it with a million notes. Just sayin...

  • @ThemBones24 Hahaha, i agree, although a lot of people seem to like malmsteen more, i think mj's version is more badass, and less orchestral maybe, but orchestral is part of malmsteen so, kudos to the dude haha, although to me, his music sucks! hahah, just my taste, not saying he's a bad musician or anything!

  • Ripper is horrible and the solos are boring and uninspired. But I still love all his work before the Alchemy album.

  • The singer doens´t match with malmsteen... terrible.

  • Worst version ever heard, really! And who the f*** is this terrible "singer" ??? I cannot believe Yngwie`s playing the guitar... maybe a bad clone, nothing more.

  • @MrSchugo The singer is Tim "Ripper" Owens ( former singer for Judas Priest and Iced Earth ) and he is still to this day in Malmsteen's lineup. I agree on his poor performance on that cover.

  • Whow! It was not a joke!!!

  • I never thought I'd say that, but I like Jackson's original much more than this crap

  • he fired a million notes but none of them hit the mark

  • @MrWoodoop Right on mate!

  • @turockandar haha glad you agree im fed up of speed freaks who cannot play with feel. malmsteen in particular pisses me off; a lot of his stuff is very good but a lot isnt. that and he's got a terrible attitude. i don't respect a guy with his head stuck up ass XD

  • ~ this is my favorite song in 27 years to this day

~ and has been brought by guitarist aces in its own way

    ~ interesting as well ;)

  • ante polunic is better

  • Sing Tim Ripper Owens ? :)

  • Brutal!

  • Ok guys, some of you like him and some of you don't. I have seen both EVH and YJM in their hayday..Both have punished themselves as well as their guitars over the years. They both are human beings who get to sell their creations to the masses. I feel as though YJM, has been true to his fans and those that have followed him, since he set foot on American soil. He has always strived to give us his best. No further comment on behalf of EVH...

  • I am wondering what motivated Yngwie Malmsteen to cover this song. A desire to be more pop and sell records to the masses? A desire to pay homage to Van Halen? A desire to outdo him? It seems to me that he is all about music as a competition rather than music as an art, so it is probably just to show that he is "better" in the notes per second column. Who cares?

  • @VioletDeliriums Maybe he does like the idea of pumping 1k notes into a 60 second window? Covers don't neccesarily have to be exactly the same, they can be in the bands own style.

  • @VioletDeliriums or maybe.. just maybe he wanted to cover a great song by a great artist. I know I know it sounds crazy but people actually do it all the time.

  • @VioletDeliriums Herp Derp, how about Yngwie harboring a legitimate fondness of Michael's music ? Buckethead cited Michael as a huge influence, and you have the temerity of declaring Yngwie's intentions as superficial and purely competitive ? Get that shit outta here !!!

  • @guitarMaster666Poop Haha! I like the "herp derp" opening! Sure you might be right, but what I hear in Yngwie is incredible but also quite filled with ego, whether it be his words or his sound. Check out his version of "Star Spangled Banner" at the baseball field. He hypes that up more than any diva I've ever heard. Rather than using it for purpose of protest (as Hendrix & Cobain) or even for real patriotism (where he would have played it more reverently), he uses it as a means to show off.

  • @guitarMaster666Poop I am not cutting on Yngwie's ability at all, or even saying that his music is bad. What I am saying is that he is clearly competitive and egotistical -- especially in the 1980s! Go back and read some interviews. Unreal.

  • amazing..avesome..great..best..

  • buonamasa

  • HORRIBLE EL CANTANTE... EL RETARDADO DE RIPER OWENS NO?? EL TIMBRE DE VOZ MUY NASAL Y CALA EN LA AFINACIÓN COMO UN HIJO DE PUTA...!!! EL GORDO COMO SIEMPRE UN GENIO !!!

  • man what a shit too fast =/

    mj and eddie is better

  • im sorry he just seems like speed and arpeggeos his set up doesnt realy sound that amazing he is skill i just dont think he has feeling for what hes playing

  • @MrMrguitarguy14

Yeah, he obviously has amazing amounts of skill...but you really can't hear any soul.

  • Man, MJ version is more faster and heavier than this shit!

  • I'm a fan of Yngwie, at least his early stuff, and this is absolute garbage. Unfortunately Yngwie has been playing the same licks for going on 30 years now. He hasn't had a good singer since Joe Lynn Turner, and his new tone sucks ass.

  • This is an atrocity. Mindless, thouhtless shredding by numbers. And Yngwie's vibrato sounds like a cat getting it's cock kicked.

  • I didn't know Yngwie was slim.

  • @leojim1 He was...lol

  • it seems like there's some rule that says you can't like both EVH and yngwie, you can only love one and think the other is shit... fuck that they both kick major ass. however the singer here sucks big time

  • @greensp4rk Yngwie and Eddie are both gods and that's all.

  • @MrPerrucci13 Thats exactly what i'm tryin to say

  • crappy

  • Super.

    Grandma mary

  • Who has this fucking horrible voice?

  • @guntersegurola sounds like Ronnie James Dio, or someone covering his style...and he wasnt horrible

  • @guntersegurola I think its Tim "ripper" Owens (the guy who used to sing for Judas Priest when Halford left)

  • Very Fantastic............

  • usually when someone plays this solo we say he tried becuase they failed. but in this case he tried and was like fuckit (afterburners on and he just did what he did best)

  • beat off

  • love the photo of skinny yngwie

  • tim ripper owens is a bad mother fucker

  • Ripper is a fucking beast! I liked the vocals in this song, the guitar sounds a little confuse in the beggining but still kick ass.

  • why would Yngwie cover this song. it doesn't make sense, it doesn't sound particularly interesting, and doesn't add anything to the Yngwie library.

100% waste of time and space.

  • @loknloll Maybe because he likes it and just fucking felt like covering it?

  • Fuck off, everybody has their own taste of music! If you dont like it don't listen to it and post stupid comments.

  • holy shit dio sang with him on this or is this ripper owens again

  • meu "camarada"... cada um com seu gosto. É vc quem está tocando? Claro que não. Então, fique com a sua opinião. Gosto de ouvir música, não gosto de barulho.

  • Great to hear a versino of this that isn't a rehash of the original.

YNGWIE CONFIRMS HIS STATUS AS THE GREATEST ELECTRIC GUITARIST OF ALL TIME! (again)

  • @SpartanPict LOL this is the worst cover I have ever heard, he has just taken a song and butchered it so he can play his scale driven fret board athletics over the top of it, he just wants to get to the solo he can show off. Van Halen is a 100 times better than Malmsteen because he has taste as well as skill, you can actually listen to Van Halen songs without thinking " why are there 5000 extra unecessary notes crowding up the song?"

  • @Thespeakerofmanytru8 Skill IS taste.

I suppose Paganini, Chopin, Liszt ect were using 'too many notes' too?

You are just jealous, because he CAN show off.

  • That is a fucking loud bass.

  • ITS MY WAY, MY WAY OR THE YNGWIE!

  • quem disse pra vc que gosto de Luan Santana? Gosto de música, não de bagunça e nem poluição sonora. Recomendo a vc ouvir....

  • If you guys don't like yngwie's work, fuck off and stop talking shit fucking maggots!!! I think this song was improved and is better than the original. Yngwie malmsteen is an excellent guitarist and a great vocalist and this song came out great !!

  • @metalfury627 umm mmm no......

  • IF YOU DON'T LIKE YNGWIE YOU HAVE NO BALLS! >.<

  • trash... pqp que bagunça sonora..

  • @juliomqsmsg Entao vai ouvir Luan Santana...

  • I rly dont like the vocal. Just dont please the ears.

  • This just doesn't work. Rippers vocals are just rancid here:-(

  • ok, in all fairness ive listened to it again...it'ss worse than i thought the 2nd time around..just plain horrid

  • @yulely1

becase you are not a heavy metal fan

  • only that "Yngweenie" hack could make a great song sound this bad. Always has and will bad a horrible hack of a guitar player (and i use that term loosely). Ive heard unknown garage bands on here sound 100x better. what a bad joke that guy is from the otherwise great 80's music

  • Comment removed

  • very epic too bad that Ynwie Malmsteen is a diva :/

  • adoro ripper owens mas essa versão ta horrivel!!!!

  • I like it!!!

  • why is everyone hating on yngwie. its a cover, his interpretation he can play it whatever way he likes and any normal person that doesnt like it shouldnt give a fuck

  • If you play Eddies's solo in your mind while Yngwie is playing his you'll find that Yngwie does hit a lot the accents. The opening to the solo here is insane and totally Yngwie! I like this raw version. They just did it for fun I doubt they spent a lot of time on it and why should they? I saw Yngwie open for Dio way back and he played part of Eruption;the crowd was oblivious. Louder and faster was all they wanted-whatever. As Yngwie once said "it's all music it's not sports." Cheers!

  • Horrible!!!!!!

  • Hey chucker44, I'm sure John Mayer appreciates your patronage

  • just fail and so disrespectfull to eddie that malmsteen guy is only a poser oh and the vocals are not for this song they just dont fit there

  • @SFK1991 you refer to eddie van halen on a first name basis and yngwie malmsteen as "that malmsteen guy"? i think you have their levels of significance confused

  • @UnderATallTree Are you fucking serious, without Van Halen, an incredibly talented guitarist, a pioneer, there would have been no talentless malmsteen ruining classics like these with unnecessary shredding just made up of random none coherant notes.

  • @UnderATallTree it just because no one can remember yngwie for some reason

  • Yngwie...we get it - you are fast. zzzzzzzzzz

  • Oh my god, this sucks. And my ears are OPEN.

  • This is one of those songs on which you should stick to the original guitar solo rather than change it like Yngwie does here. Eddie's solo on this song is famous in its own right - possibly even more so than the song itself.

If the singer had changed the words, he would have been accused of disrespecting Michael Jackson, and changing the solo disrespects EVH. I am a big fan of Yngwie and of Vai (who has also done this) but they should do what Orianthi does, and show some respect for Eddie.

  • good song

  • Who on earth is on Vocals ??? it sounds like Ronnie James Dio. this too is Kickass awesome!!!!

  • @DJJOHAN33

That's Tim "Ripper" Owens formerly of Judas Priest and Iced Earth, he's a great singer but he has this unfortunate habit of being replaced by the person he replaced.

  • @Hammerhead547

LOL so true. I remember I saw him some years ago at Lamour in Brooklyn right after he was kicked from Judas Priest. The DJ was obnoxiously playing Judas Priest between band set ups.. lol

  • @ladygaiajehan

It's really too bad the "Ripper" hasn't really had the chance to grow into his position as singer in both Judas Priest and Iced Earth , in the case of Judas Priest I think that the hardcore fans just couldn't accept him as the "new" singer in much the same way that hardcore Iron Maiden fans went as far as heckling Blaze Bayley while he was on stage performing because he"wasn't bruce" and "couldn't sing bruce's songs" .

  • Heavy like a machine gun...love it!

  • keep the good work up.

  • vocals=kickass

    yngwie= up his ass.

seriously its like using a machine gun on a sniping mission: none of the shots hit the target. this is shit.

  • @MrWoodoop great metaphor for malmsteen in general

  • @MrWoodoop

No way, the solo from 2:36 to 3:36 is sick!!!

But I especially like from 3:05 to 3:36, very cool!!

  • @epic103 Amen brother,Amen! That wicked little lick at 3:43 is what really turns me on...so perfectly improvised, but so rock´n roll. It shows me that YJM could be the best metal guitarist, but that wasnt enough for him-therefore he created his own style-the neoclassical rock. Sounds logical to me...chrchr.Luv him.

  • thats terrible

  • look heres the deal your all a bunch of stupid white GUYS WHO ARE GOING TO GIVE THIS GUY PROPS ANYWAY. the bottom line is "this version sounds dumb"

just admit it. " just a bunch of stupid white boys"!! be original for a change .....duh

  • @shalomyishai Spreading peace , love and respect again . ?

  • @shalomyishai

    wtf?

I bet Malmsteen in his most drunken state could put together a better sentence than you did.

  • look heres the deal your all a bunch of stupid white GUYS WHO ARE GOING TO GIVE THIS GUY PROPS ANYWAY. the bottom line is "this version sounds dumb"

    just admit it. just som

  • wwwhhhaaaack!!!!! corny!!!!!!!! yeh show'em how funky yeh

  • made a decent song into a really good song so please don't hate on the guy

  • Great Cover! Check my channel and comment my music!

Not really... I only have a video.... and the audio isn't very good... Only forget it LOL

  • great cover

  • sorry but in this song i don't like tim ripper owen, i'm a great fan of his voice, but he fail this time.....

  • NOBODY fuks a melody line up like this guy

  • Of course I immediately scrolled forward to the solo and was stunned - how jeaous Yngwie is of Eddie. He tries to beat the original with speed, not realising how FAIL that is. This version is just a blur of notes, that's it. Sorry Yngwie...

  • @SomethinWild You fail, Lets see you play either Eddie or Yngwies solo. Eddie does Eddie, YJM does YJM.

  • @SuperJBrowne Damn, now I must be ashamed :D No, wait... is there any connection if I can play any solo and whether I like it? Not at all. Eddie's solo is iconic, this one is just a plain running up'n'down the neck. Tim's vocals compliment the song, but Yngwie butchers it all.

    Your trolling failed this time.

  • @SomethinWild No, but if you actually could play you would know the complexities of both styles, Eddie is more adventurous in the types of techniques he uses ie. tapping, dive bombs etc. YJM just lets fly, nothing wrong with that, and there are some nice passages that YJM plays toward the end. But to each his own is what I'm saying.

  • @SuperJBrowne YJM's style has its own place, I agree. Many people like it, many people adore him, he's a great influence to shredders all around the globe. This is all undeniable. But, int this song, his style does not fit. Even more so because Eddie's original was so emblematic and so unbelievably huge that everything else would sound simply bad there. So does this one.

On the other hand, I'm sure no par for these huge shredders, and it is not my goal either. i can play somewhat - that's it :)

  • @SomethinWild Good call, I like what he did here in parts but agreed, neo-classical doesn't really fit in a rock setting.

  • @SomethinWild

According to Yngwie himself this was a session outtake that was originally never meant to see the light of day (hence the low production quality) but after MJ died he decided to release it "as it was" in tribute to someone he considered to be "a true great in the music world".

  • @Hammerhead547 Thanks for the facts. Nevertheless I still tink that, if he really admired MJ, he could have re-recorded and re-produced the song, to really show his appreciation towards MJ's music and talent. Don't get me wrong, I still think that YJM's role in modern guitar music is undeniable, but that makes this song even more unacceptable.

  • @SomethinWild

It would seem that Yngwie thought that the sound of the track in its relatively under produced raw state was acceptable but I don think that it would have sounded 100 times better if they had cleaned up the production and balanced the volume levels a little.

I have this song on my Ipod and even with high end headphones it's still hard to listen too because it sounds fuzzy and garbled then the guitar kicks in and overwhelms everything else which is too bad.

  • this is awesome

  • srry guys but van halen is a dutchman and i am a dutchman to so i prefer van halen

  • @jippo3012 sry guys vanhalen is an american and i am an american to so i prefer van halen

  • @skangmox You do realise the Van Halen are Dutch don't you?

  • @SuperJBrowne you do realise they are american dont you?

  • @skangmox They are Dutch ;)
