  • hey can someone tell me what he say at 2:58? i can't undertand it

  • Does anybody know the name of the spot where he's playing in this video and where it is?

  • i love this song!

  • what idiot said this was Tom Morello? It's Chris Cornell dumbass!

  • him and myles kennedy has the best voices in rock

  • Chris is fucking amazing I wish I could sing this good, but who doesn't lol

  • 1.Staley

    2.Cornell

    3.Lannegan

    4.Vedder

  • @petegl93 absolutely,in that order too,id have to add mike patton

  • kelly jones owns all those seattle misfits

  • 1.staley

    2.valo

    3.anselmo

    4.barry white

    5.cornell

  • omg this is cornell singing ! unlike those @aol sessions where he screws up a little and people talk shit about him

  • 1. chris cornell

    2.claudio sanchez

    3. brent smith

  • 1.kurt

    2.cornell

    2.vedder

  • im with you man, mabye not in that order

  • I like the little mini applause he gets when people know what the song is about.

  • NO WAY Staley and vedder both good but both are nothing compared to Trent Reznor and Chris Cornell.

  • Reznor? really? don't get me wrong, he's a freaking genius, but not much of a SINGER

  • Listen to the screaming on the end of the song. Cornell used to nail that shit right on the head. Now.. it's almost embaressing, knowing how good he was some time ago. Don't get me wrong, he's still a very good singer.. but nothing compared to the old CC.

  • you been to a recent concert? this guy is no longer smoking and is reaching those notes. He even reached the E at the end of Hungerstrike when I went to see him live. Of course his voice is damaged and I didn't expect much when I went to the concert, but it went WAY BEYOND my expectations. Youtube lies.

  • @yanezds "no longer smoking and is reaching those notes"?? do you think that smoking somehow increases a singers' range?? or did you just word that wrong?

  • @filteredglitch I wanted to say that Cornell has stopped smoking and drinking (or has significantly reduced how much he smokes and drinks), and since then, his live singing has improved notoriously. His audioslave years, especially his early years, were awful, but it looks like now he is back on the right track (with the exception of Scream) and is able to sing again, not as he used to back in the nineties, but at least decently and cleanly reaching high pitches without sounding like a dying pig

  • @filteredglitch i think youre the one who missunderstood

  • sorry bud i think you got it mixed up

    1.Cornell

    2.Vedder

    3.Staley

    4.Vedder

    imo

  • Vedder is probably my second favourite singer of all time (behind Cornell). He had so much emotion in his voice. There was almost a sense of desperation and he had that deep growl kind of going on at points. Personally, I think he is a better singer than Cobain. I really like Kurt and Nirvana, but Vedder was a better singer. But its all really just opinion......

  • damn his voice was in tip-top shape that day. now a days i think his best performances are just him alone playing his acoustic cause his aged voice and rhaspy scream which have given him a new vocal idenity from the soundgarden days work

    so well together

  • And you can you can quote me on that, because its too obvious that most people don't have a clue about their passions towards music.

  • There is no greatest when it comes to music. There is only unique and wonderful sounds from certain people with great talents and the energy to manifest them.

  • i agree.. too many people on here just want to compare and defend who they like best.. everyone has different opinions.. and that's cool.

  • I think that vedder and cornell are very different, maybe technically Chris is a little bit better, but Vedder is better in terms of expressing his emotions

  • Eddie Vedder is overrated as a singer. He's alright, but not in the same league. Chris rules. So much passion, soul, meaning in his voice.

  • I agree. Nevermind Cornell, Vedder isn't in the league of Staley or Cobain. He's good, but not great.

  • no way, vedder has a beautiful baritone and a great range that most singers would kill to have. he's definitely in the same league at chris and layne. but how is kurt in this, he's a different kind of singer than the other three mentioned

  • Fair enough, I phrased my comment wrong. I didn't mean to insult CVedder, his voice is better than 90% of singers, but he's my least favorite grunge singer (from the big 4)

  • well i can understand that

  • fucking thanks its an awesome and i really like cris cornell voice

  • fucking awesome. HE has unbelievable power in his voice. There is no comparison to something that unique... I've never heard sum1 able to sing like that in any other band. One day I want to be able to move people the same way he does...

  • his new solo album will give him time for his voice to rest, so then he can come back and rock it out.

  • I remember watching this video a long time ago. Im glad I revisited it, the scream at the end is awesome! <- look I even used an exclamation point. And to put the debates to rest, Chris Cornell is God. Noone can compare themselves to a God without looking like a fool. Carry On youtubers.

  • Yeah bro, i know, i was joking :-)

  • Why does he want a sheep over his eyes?

  • so he can sleep tonight....

  • it's sheet. Not sheep.

  • It's a joke obviously

  • wow!

    great version

  • i really feel this song...Thanks!

  • WOW!His voice is awesome!

  • Quite possibly the best rock voice in history along with Eddie Vedder.

  • Dont forget Layne Staley, RIP.

  • dont forget Chris and Eddie are close friends

  • not only but collarators! long live Temple of the Dog

  • Why does everytime someone say this, there always have to be a clause: "don't forget Eddie Vedder". Cornell is way above Vedder and any other 90's vocalist. Temple of the dog and every other SG album proved that emphatically.

  • vedder>cornell but i love them cornell

  • @riseabove17 fuck'n totally agree, if there was one thing that I'm jealous of would be Chris Cornell's voice.

  • @riseabove17 and patton

  • awesome, say wat u want but this guy has emosion, its not perfect singing specially at the end, but u really feel da song, have to say hes ma fav artist at the moment for tht one reason, so hats off to him, really, the song is just awesome

  • uummmm type english

    retsrd

  • This is real great´! Chris! <3

  • Simplemente increible!!! Es de las pocas personas que si tener un doble discurso, hace una critica real al sistema.

Busquen en google 33 pasos para destruir una ciudad afro-americana

  • wow his vocals are strong in this.

  • I think the "sharpness" at the end added to the feeling of the song. Meaning, he's just screaming out his frustration. No matter what it sounds like, he's just trying to get his point across.

  • Chris is the best with the greatest voice!!!!!!

  • all of us love you chris... your the best!!

  • pretty cool. i gave 5 stars though

  • Bad. Sharp ya know? As in too high in pitch.

    :¬)

  • he is the best... (:

  • Pity the 4 screams at the end wer sharp,he nails them on the live in Sweden cd,fucking amazing.

    Superb song 10/10

  • do you mean now that the 4 screams were good or bad?

  • pequeña vos la este tio ehhh un mounstro, fenomenal

  • Cornell is the man.

  • take that bush

  • So true...

  • your an idiot if you still think that guy is tom morello, pause it when the cameras are flashing and its blateinly (sp) obvious like at :56 or 1:15 which is a really cool shot of cornell bringin the thunder by the way lol

  • i like him without the band

  • I like all versions of this song :]

  • me too

  • OMG WIDE AWAKE!!!!!!!!! sounded so bad at the end

  • i wish audioslave was back together

  • iono why u guys are arguing whether thats morello or not. the video was posted in august 2006. thats before revelations was even released or at least around the time that it was. which means audioslave was still together then.

  • He's got a point, folks

  • why did thay break up? i only hurd thay broke up a few weeks ago

  • I heard they're planning on getting back together (AudioSlave) after they both complete one more album.

  • Wow when will you people get out of denial? Chris has stated repeatedly in interviews that Audioslave HAS disbanded, since he felt that at his age with his family commitments and business differences he didn't want to be in a band anymore. And wow take a look at 2:34 when the guy on the right gets up into the light, most def not Morello.

  • Shut up you sick fuck!!! Take a look at the right side of the footage, and see who is sitting in the shadow, wearing a hat. It's Tom Morello, although Chris plays regular gigs on solo, doesn't mean the band is drawing to an end, or that his solo performances indicate that the band is spliting up.

  • NO WAY, I'M ENDING IT ALL NOW

  • simply great.

  • anyone know where i can find the acoustic tabs for this.. couldnt find them anywhere

  • Awsome! He has the best voice ever!<3

  • audioslave isn't breaking up. rage is just having a reunion concert in LA because that's where they are from and they played that concert before they broke up.

  • cornell fuckin rules...morello was cramping his style.. i just bought tix to see cornell do an accoustic show in boston...YES!!!

  • lol, compared to Cornell, Morello is fucking elite.

  • Yeah, but I like this song stipped down to acoustic and vocals.

  • very nice

  • i dont think his voice has changed much, soundgarden were a grunge band, when they played live it was about the performance. When he was in audioslave it was more about the singing, hes carlmed down since he quit drinking. And now, hes solo, he needs to do his own thing. And i love it!

  • yeah haha everything is good here except that last scream

  • oh geez...that ending is harsh

  • God, why did he leave. Audioslave was my favorite band. Morello's guitar with Chris's voice; a magical combination. That said, this was definately one of my favorites from Revelations. The acoustic version is almost as good as the album version.

  • shit :( has he left audioslave ??? when??? i love audioslave ...fuck

  • i didnt mind the chorus

  • The chorus is excellent!...ooo god it just got to the WIDE AWAKE! part...that almost ruined the whole thing. But the rest of it was good. THis is a hidden gem off Revelations.

  • That's the way Chris Cornell sings. That's why he's famous; for his range and volume. He's not as good as he was in Soundgarden. He dosen't sing in a normal voice otherwise he'd be shit like all the other shit that evveryone loves. People like Audioslave because they're just another rockband and ignore Chris' real talent. That's why he left.

  • If you compare his voice now to what it was like in Soundgarden it's technically a lot better. Since he's given up smoking and drinking his range has improved and his tone has gotten nicer.

  • I see you don't have a shit in music, ah.

  • Listen to the wide awake version from his concert i Stockholm. Its much better, especially the shout in the end, he hits it beatufully!

  • fsgfdgsfg

  • Off Topic: TPB = The Pirate Bay i think... But i would'nt count on it :P

On Topic: Nice record, bud didn like the chorus, he shouted too mutch... Thank you for sharing this video TURNTABLETIGER :)

  • my pleasure

  • and just for the record...in early 98 while touring with soundgarden chris strained his vocal chords and it was thought that he might not ever be able to sing again...personally i think it worked out to his advantage and I think you will too after hearing this album...enjoy

  • reminds ne a little of gnarls barkley-crazy--the chords anyway.

  • interesting....

  • He is amazing!

  • yeah end was off. still good for how much of his voice hes lost since back in the dayne.

  • PRECIOSA! = BEAUTIFUL

  • the stockholm version is better, great song though.

    its available in tpb

  • Hello im cruious what is tpb?

  • i like this more than the one on Revelations, Chris is just amazing the best singer out there, and yes his voice is doing great

  • what a song!!! wowwwwwwww

  • wow that was great, i liked it better than the one on the album, not sure about the high notes at the end though

  • it's not really a political song, because he's not singing about politics; he's expressing his opinions on the failure of a group of people to act as human beings.

i'm not anti-george bush, and i'm not anti-war, but what he did (or didn't do) in new orleans can't just be ignored.

  • great vocals

  • I agree that the scream was off in the end... but I can't do better, and it sounds ABSOLUTELY GREAT on the album. ;)

  • i thought the end wasn't too shabby

  • I don't know if it was his quiting smoking or he has taken additional vocal training but this guys voice has vastly improved since the first album performaces. Easily my fav singer.

  • that was awesome... but was it just me or did that last really high note sound a little off?

  • wow.. very powerful. Chris's voice is amazing, seriously it brought a tear to my eye in this song.

  • I cant believe it, all the crapy songs in the world and people complain about this master piece. Unbelievable...in fact its just sad.

    Audioslave=True Rock

  • Hey TURD,how is he alienating an audience? What an idiot you are. He can sing what he wants and this song is probably Audioslaves best song. The feeling in the song is strong and its what he feels. You must be a Bush supporter ignorant to the fact of what happened. Idiot! I can tell you he doesn't need an audience of you anyway.

  • Ok asshole, you're obviously completely ignorant/in high school/flat out stupid. It's easy to see how he alienates an audience, some people are real touchy in regards to politics (for example, yourself, with your ignorant "you must be a bush supporter" comment). Chris is a great musician, i've seen him in concert at least 5 times now, but I'm just saying he should stick to what has worked for him in the past...he's not zak de la rocha. This is not Rage against the Soundgarden. It's audioslave.

  • hence the audioSLAVE twat! Like i said he can sing what he wants. How am i the ignorant one? Go listen to Brittany spears and have a little dance. By the way are you not a Bush supporter?

  • if you are a real cornell fan you should be proud of all his work, especially this song

  • murrison's got tha right words. Besides chris isn't like artist that write politically. He writes what he feels, he doesnt copramise those feelings to get a political message across. Plus that man is a God and a great God dosent ask anyone for thier opinion or change because someone doesn't like what their doing. They just do it. sorry kinda dragged that out.

  • Chris is awesome but why couldn't he stick to his word when he first joined audioslave and not sing about politics...talk about alienating an audience

  • Man that guy can sing!!!

  • What is that chords he plays after the Dm and the Fmaj7 in the chorus?

  • And you do have to admit, our Gvt. fucked up here. I can say that, and i'm in the Marine Corps.

  • If he didn't sing about politics, we wouldnt have this awesomely powerful song.

  • i'm just mezmerized by the singing - it's the most important thing, his grand voice

  • me too.. girl u are everywhere.. ;] haha :] xoxo

  • simply we're watching the same videos

  • Everyone has the right to sing about what he wants. If Chris want to sing about politics, perfect.

  • i know he can sing about it, but what if people like bush then cornell is taking away audience, not saying i like bush

  • No, you're missing the point. If you can see a problem, you can form an opinion - if you wish to share your opinion, you, as an artist, are free to do so. FUCK WHAT OTHERS THINK, that's not the point of being a musician, it's not about creating an audience, it's about speaking to those that are willing to listen and already wide awake.

  • chris is a real rock icon or shall i say rock god...i heard that his upcoming solo album would be out next year...is it true?

  • yes, i heard him say it out of his own mouth, shortly after they put out revelations hes gonna put out his solo album

  • man, that´s just awesome.

  • chris is absolutely the best

  • I love it, scream was a little off, but damn that has to be hard to sing regardless!

  • yeah man, I believe that was a c# he was hitting, which is going into robert plant range, crazy high man.... still sounding awesome.

  • you're right. he did hit a c#. on the album the note is a C. but i'm blown away with the fact he can hit those notes... crazy!

  • He hangs out with Tom Morello most of the time. I dare you to hang out with Tom Morello and not get a strong political view, and then wanna sing about it.

    Nice vid

  • Murrison's got the idea...

  • he can sing about whatever the hell he wants it not what u want so deal with it

  • Its not the best song on Revelations. One and the Same is. Plus, I agree w/ u brokemusician about his politics. He shouldnt be singing bout it.

  • This song isn't political just because you can associate it with bush, Katrina, and the war. This is a religious song, Cornell has judged thee and is displeased. No mortal has the authority to find someone guilty of sleeping :) Let me cut you in on a revelation; we are all inferior to Cornell and therefore have no right to dictate what he should and should not sing about. Be grateful he won't smite you.

  • he can sing about whatever he wants he also said he usually never writes about politics but he felt it was a time to and to get his point across

  • A musician writes what he finds inspiration on.if a musician is to curb his/her inspirations..that would be writing bubble gum pop and confessing to the public that u listened to Pantera for inspiration. =D no offence whatsoever.

  • does he look like a fuckin juke box singin what you want him to sing?

  • He sings about what inspires him, thats great. When I read he'd written a politicaly oriented song I was a bit worried, musicians can compromise their music by being too bent on sending out messages or whatever. But I was wrong to worry, this song is incredible. He's channeled his emotions regarding a terrible event into an awesome, powerful song.

  • Its a good song. But I think its too bad Chris has started to sing about politics. If I wanted politics I'd watch CSPAN. I still love the song though.

  • The best song on the Revelation album.

  • "best singer in rock right now, period. "

Now? Dude, the guy's been the best since he started way back in 84.

  • wasn't this in stockholm sweden?

  • nope. i definitely shot it live in Toronto.

  • I put this song on my cell phone, it's just that important. If anybody wants to leave me a message they can wait a few minutes untill Cornell is done screaming.

  • one word...WOW!...i love it! Wide Awake is one of my favs of the new record!

  • scream was abit off but it was butifull

  • his voice is so beautiful on the album and even better unpluged. best singer in rock right now, period.

  • Purple Helmet Cant Prove Anything

  • At the end a little rough, but entire song-great!!

  • i'll agree on that

  • awwww the screaming was just a TINY bit sharp. he almost nailed it! i wish...!

  • lol, i love the song but i dont think im feeling the screaming at the end heh
