right royal pain in the arse to 100%.

Simple strategy, try not to lose any units, immeadietly put them all in sentry at around beach barb wire point and switch to assault, destroy the rockets before ordering tanks to move forward and eliminate the artillery. Distract the artillery with the assault to make sure they fire away from trooops. Whilst raising the flags head to free the missiles then put everyone in sentry. use an assault which landed and go around the back. free fighters. Job done.

In the middle of the island , you can set up a defensive position in a Mountain and in the POW camp perimeter for the tanks and assault vets or Mortar vets.You be very surprised by the mountain itself .Also you can use the nearby island as a fall back point.

Dude, the game in the video is "Battalion Wars". It's for the GameCube. GameCube games can be played on the Wii. To control them, you also need a GameCube controller. To save them, you also need a GameCube memory card. You can likely find these items at a used games store.

That's all there is to it.

Tip about the Gunships:

They attack at the first stronghold

At the retreat of the Xylvanians

Second stronghold, when almost all the enemies are defeated

Around the Pillboxes and Heavy Tanks, and sometimes by the effigies of Vlad

Also, at the begining, stay in your Battlestation and kill the pillboxes, then advance to neutralize the Xylvanian Artillery. When you are around done with the first Artillery Vehicle, call for your troops.

Road to Xylvania is made into a joke with Y button spamming. Nothing like using the Battlestation to blast every ground threat to Kingdom Come while not having to fear the 4 respawning Gunships because the AA Vets actively attack them and trash them as a result.

In fact, I have beaten Road to Xylvania with a Perfect S-Rank *without* using the Battlestation.

Gunships of the Desert you mean?

Once the Colonel announces tanks are coming behind you, retreat to the mechanized division (a.k.a., the tanks and gunship). Drive your gunship to defeat the tanks and rocket troopers, for positive advancement to the infantry waiting ahead. Let the T-Copter be shot down, and let your tanks eliminate the AA-Vehicles. Advance with only your gunship to destroy the tanks/rockets. Then everyone in the battalion except the gunship advance to capture the nerocite

The T-Copter doesn't have to be shot down at all. It just gets shot down if the AA Vehicles haven't already been destroyed. There's nothing special for keeping the T-Copter alive, though, except for maybe bragging rights.

This is the only freakin mission I got no S rank on. By best ever was a 92 but I usually get an 86 or 87. I always get about 95 on speed though.

Command your units to attack those infantry in front of you right away, then direct them (using the Y button) to around the center of the group of sandbags, and also use your Mortar to hammer a few infantry before swapping to the tank. Do it right and you will have units in the safe zone of the Artillery's range, resulting in a high (not 100%, unfortunately) chance of avoiding casualties on the first part.

It's a good capture device for beginners and portability, that's for sure! Just know that the compression scheme it uses churns out rather large videos.

Yes, I use a "video capture device", often "GameBridge". It's the same principle as recording on a VCR, excepting it's on the PC!

Yup, this is the first Battalion Wars. I've never played the Wii game, but I'd assume it looks much the same. (The Wii isn't that much more capable, graphically, then a GameCube.)

well when i played the first battalion wars on the wii the graphics were way better than on the gamecube. it was less pixelated. my wii was upstairs and i didnt want to go get it so i just played it on the Gcube and the quality was worse

Maybe your Wii usually is hooked up by component video cables? Whatever the case, when the Wii is playing a GameCube game, it essentially acts as a GameCube, graphics and all. There shouldn't really be any difference, but hey, maybe you've got something going there.

The Vladstag has a side entrance on the east. Keep your people away from the main entrance while you sneak in through the side entrance to zap the AA Vehicles. By destroying the 2 AA Vehicles, Nova's Gunships will be far safer, toning the threat of the 2 Battlestations way down.

Just be wary of all the infantry in the Vladstag, including some Rocket buggers who are there to punish Light Tanks.

They are entirely different games. It all depends on what you want more: a Stealth game with only one character to manage and a storyline that pulls you in; or a Squad based game that relies on strategic deployment of a vast amount of characters to "solve" a level.

Yeah, you won't necessarily see it new any more. It's probably fairly easy to get it used. My recommendation is GameCrazy, if possible.

This is the first Battalion Wars and is single player only - for GameCube. Battalion Wars 2 is for the Wii and does offer wifi multiplayer.

I've never played Metal Slug 3D. I hear it was ok, but lacks the style and frenetics of the 2D ones.
