  • I think about him at age 5 with 200 soul classics mastered - listening to the radio and watching TV in that tiny house. C'mon now!

  • Only King MJ can make a bad quality video Awesom.

    rip MJ...still miss you

  • He made the Show and his talent was obviously - He was always the Sensation on Stage - so beautiful, I can watch it on and on. Embedded in his familiy - so sad he has gone to soon.

  • Michael was THE SHOW, born a true artist . With 10 years old and we can see clearly the same steps that he always did as an adult. Awesome. Irreplaceable!

  • This is why no one can replace him, no one has the same stage presence he had with the voice to match.

  • It was His thing, no doubt. I Love it.

Even though the quality is a bad one, what does it matter, He was a Genius!

  • Lemme hear you say!!!!

  • I am so grateful for this posting! I actually saw this on television. I remember being a 7 year old Black kid who was watching a 10 year old performance master who looked like me! In 1969, you didn't see that. It was a life changing moment for me, and soon to be world changing phenomenon!

  • wow little Mike what a showmanship! he OWNS it

  • Little Michael was a rare Gem!! Thanks for sharing this footage.

  • This was before they blew up and one of their first big gigs. The crowd was unaware of a legend that was before them. Michael rocked the crowd like someone who was here before in another lifetime. The way he performed was just amazing. He performed as if the stage was his. You can't find grown performers who don't show nervousness. You never see it in Michael.

  • BLACK POWER!!!!!!! BLACK POWER!!!!!! JAMES BROWN TALENT! YEAH BABY!:)))

SAY IT LOUD!!!!! I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD!!!!! DIANA ROSS; MISS BLACK AMERICA GLORIA O. SMITH; NEW YORK1969; JANELLE COMMISSIONG MISS UNIVERSE, TERRY WASHINGTON,TUPAC SHAKUR; I'M TRUELY PROUD TO BE BLACK; SING BABY! GO HEAD LIL MICHAEL! BLACK POWER IN YOUR BLOOD! MAKE YOU WANT TO SCREAM! OOOOH!!!

  • What a poor quality vid. Did you drop the tape in the bath or something? Great song and great version.

  • @kmp3000 its 1968, and it was a live show that was not on tv, what do you expect, VEVO ?

  • @balotelli456 it actually was August of 1969 and it was on television. This was the very first time I laid eyes on them and have been with them ever since.

  • Incredible, the Talent ran out of His ears - everybody can See it

  • Michael we will miss you always, the magic has gone xxxxxx

  • Prince Of Motown - King Of Pop

Thank you Michael for all the wonderful memories I'll cherish them always <3

  • Michael is greatly missed, however, he will live on forever in the hearts of his millions of fans thru~out the world! His music is timeless and will be around for many many years to come. God rest his soul <3

  • what r u talkin about? Michael sang for the world, the children, the people, the poor....

if that aint for God, I don't know hat is. Please..

  • WOW!!! And @ 2:21 He had that move back then too???

    Michael...Mannn... God bless you!

  • history at the beginning....the one and only MJJ

PEAC E MY BROTHER

  • feel all you all feel but it's sad he never sang a song for Christ. He gave & gave but if you don't have Christ you are still lost. jUST THINK OF WHAT HE COULD HAVE DONE FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD?

  • @KWhamm correction.. there are songs for his lord.. will you be there, in the new album, another day

  • @KWhamm what the hell? you need to go take some time from your miserable life & listen to more MJ music. He most definitely had Christ. you sound very dumb smfh.

  • @Cutesweetyuna Micheal Had Christ as much as you do.

  • Comment removed

  • @KWhamm I'm very sure you're right. thanks for proving my point, idiot, because I most definitely have Christ also :)

  • first live performance???? (in tv)

  • I wish that they were all born like 15 years later so the technology and quality would be better... And that I would be alive when he was taking the world off of it's feet

  • @magzterz i agree, but the timing was perfect for them so i guess i can't complain =/ if it had been any sooner or later things would've been different.

  • 3 people don't know how to get their groove on...

  • @ilovemusicalot07 They also know how to whip their hair back and forth more than getting their groove on.

  • WOW...OMG ONLY MJ, KING OF ENTERTAINMENT!!! He could beat any adult to this performance!...if the crowd only knows..the boy who turned KING in the future.

  • Amazing!!! He was workin the crowd even at that tender age. He was put on this planet to do this he would not have been happy if he had not been able to do this. He has such talent it is unbelievable. There will never be anyone even close to his talent ever. I love you Michael please come back to us the world is a much darker place without your sweet spirit to light the way.

  • Let me preach for a minute... taking nothing away from the talent of them men I'm about to mention.. but truth is truth.

Take Usher... Bobby Brown.. Ralph Tresvant... Chris Brown...Justin Timberlake... and multiply them by 1000.. and you wont have HALF of what the Jackson 5 were. Never before.. and never again will we see a group like this. Self contained... polished... and the standard for what came after them....

  • looked like he was crip-walking at 1:18

  • @Argee11 he was

  • What's funny is that none of those people in the audience knew that they were watching a future legend...

  • Why isn't this in HD or color?

  • @Hayeshacker1 idk !! maybe it is to old ?? hm idk

  • Can you believe it? a VETERAN by this age showing. He was definitely workin that camel walk!! And one can sure say that musically mike always knew what the hell he was doin!

  • WOW, WOW, WOW... this small boy is a GREAT PERFORMER!!!

  • wow where did you get this? This really has a James Brown feel to it......wonderful!

  • @Ketren2

man you hould have gtten all of his thumbs up for telling him how it is.

or at least for educating him on it.

  • this is insane

  • Wow, what a talent. He's beyond brilliant and look how he was. Michael is a genius. Incredible.

  • The heir apparnt to James Brown. Ttio and Jermaine doing their best Bootsy Collins and Jimmy Nylon. An absolut GEM!!!!! Many thanks for this excellent post.

  • i love watching this and think these peope had no friggin idea what he would become ans what he would mean to the world. INCREDIBLE.

  • so beyond brilliant. even during the instrumental his body and movements embodied the song, you just can't look anywhere else. ain't gonna live to see the next time we get a next michael...sigh. try understand, not rush to judge/bash/persecute the different. vitiligo, allegations...the lost ppl who only hate in their hearts killed him and still keep on distorting the truth, slandering everything of his name & brainwash the masses...

  • Mike never ceases to amaze me. Such a genius! He is so frickin talented. I'm just in AWE!!! Like, I swear, his command of that stage in UNBELIEVABLE for someone his age. I've never seen a kid with that much charisma and power.

A true prodigy. Men twice his age wishes they perform as well as him. Haha!

    I love you Mike!

  • Wasn't this their first televised performance?

  • look at him go!! I swear there will never be another!!

  • Mike the baddest muthafucka EVER!

  • sang that shit mike!!

  • Nice Song!

  • It's really your thing to sing such beautiful songs as no one other can do - and that in the age of 10 - you were a superstar from the beginning - great, simply great!

.. and the bad, who molested you, they are really nothing, maybe they will get a good treatment by the death-doctor for their sickness.

  • It's so sad thinking that his little blanket maybe can be singing right now at his age or at least the next year

  • Little MJ with an ancient soul.

  • mj cant be human, its like hes so perfect.

  • Amazing footage, THANK YOU.

  • is in AWE..had to watch it twice..goosebumps much?...i think these ppl didn't know what 2 think. R.I.P KING<3 we love you

  • my world michael was not ramping!!!! his voice, moves, dance, aura touches every inch of my SOUL! i can not imagine how the people then must of felt... you are a billion times more then a genius... wish u never slipped away alone it hurts.

  • @carmelb76 ..I am one of the people who experienced Michael (Michael and I are 2 years apart) as a youngster singing tunes like it's your thing...The experience is difficult to put into words...all I can tell you is...I fell in love from the very first note and time they debuted on T.V. in 1969..We literally grew up together...their record sales went off the charts and my ambition was to become a Jackson! ;))

  • OMG!!! mike in only 10 years old!! and has so much presence!!! he's 10!! and he can make that a whole adult and dull audience begin to sing with him!! he was born to be a star!!! i love you mike!!!

  • People should stop wondering who's gonna be the next king,

    but i'm sorry,

if you don't start like this you can not be the next king of music.

  • Good video for the time. MJ was determined to engage that audience. Maybe it the type of event that kept the audience so reserved.

  • there are no words! his talent will never be paralleled. absolutely amazing.

  • OMG, I hope this stays well preserved! It's such a beautiful thing to capture!! Michael had POWER in his voice. He had grace in his steps!

All the while, he was just a little kid!

I could watch footage of him all day! He always amazes me.

    "Often IMITATED but never duplicated."

I've seen quite a few interviews where people have said he was well beyond his own age and have seen his childhood interviews.

    I'm very sad. =(

  • His beautiful, precious little voice. =)

  • Everytime I watch this I am in awe.

  • leave it to the amazing michael jackson to get the WORLDS DULLEST crowd to clap and sing WOW amazing boy and man his voice is AMAZING!!! here! love u mike rip

  • This is absoloutly incredible, the singing, the dancing, the entertaining, all that from a little 10 year old boy. I don't know what is wrong with that audience I would have been screaming.

  • @Lannielst I think the audience is probably just to impressed to screem or move haha.....

  • @Lannielst I feel you on the audience not being very lively! But you gotta remember that was their first time seeing little Michael! I just think they were stuck in their seats and speechless! They couldn't believe what they were seeing. Mike had to do a soul clap to make them snap out of it! LOL! At least I hope that's why they weren't jumping and screaming!

  • That little child with that big voice. I know Mike had a lot of adults shaking their heads at Motown. If I was famous entertainer at motown and J5 had made one of my songs over and Mike snapped like how he did Whos Loving You, I would have been walking past Mike sticking my feet out tryin to trip his lil ass :) It's all love MJ miss you a bunch. But you aint about to make my song over and do it better than me LOL!

  • AMAZING CHILD !!!

    Love U Mike : )

  • No wonder people caleed him a 40 year old midget. It's like he'd been performing for decades and yet he's probably still 10 there! On most of the Jackson5 songs it does sound like a child is singing but the incredible thing is he's got the vocal control of decades work. It's like he was born an entertainer with all the tools inbuilt already

  • he had more sophistication at 10 than most of these current acts have at 20 or 30!

  • the crowd suck..dude...but mj was killling..idk if they realized they were looking at greatness..because i don't know kids to day that can dance and just basically entertain like he did during this peformance..to be is to misunderstood...

  • oh. my. god. HE IS SUCH A GOOD DANCER HOLY BALLS MAN!!!!!! I"M FLABERGASTED HAHAA!!!

  • I Love His Voice So Wonderful

  • Already a king. A mature performer. At 10.... goose bumps

  • man....he clearly was not of this world.....extraordinary from birth

    Rest in peace love

  • this is like some very experienced entertainer caught in a little boy's body...his talent gets me everytime,he is incredible ! and what presence on stage...amazing. may he rest in peace.

  • This was awesome, thank you for sharing.

  • lol omg his dance at 2:09 was too cute

  • god this is fucking gold hahahahaha, I love it thanks for uploading!

  • Hell No, Mike invented the Crip Walk Lol.

  • YES!!!!!! OMG!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @205breed I was thinking the same thing, I said is Mike doing the C-Walk!

  • @205breed LOL!!!!!! And the camel walk looked like the Moonwalk today.

  • @205breed lmfao thats what i was thinking

  • so adorable.

  • Listen to him sayin', "Let me hear you sing!"

He's owning that stage in 1969!

    What a little guy!

He reigned for over 40 years on this earth.

And he still reigns even in death.

    Long reign our King.

  • did he say soul clap, i love this boy! look how he engages the crowd.damn i can't believe he gone...

  • look at him crip walking and camel walking...damn lil man could do it all and he could sing!

  • i LOVE the jackson 5!!! micheal was awesome!

  • This is incredible!

  • Who wouuld have belieived that this young musical genuis would grow up to be the king of music by the tender age of 30 RIP MJ you always will be loved

  • Look at Michael's timing, listen to his voice, feel his soul!

Mike at 10 controlling the audience.

Mike always did that run and kick well.

The first ever TV appearance and Mike looks, sounds, acts like this is his trillionth time.

Thank you God Almighty for Michael Jackson. What a blessing you bestowed on us! Praise you Father!

And forgive us for what we did to hurt Michael. May we have Yours and his forgiveness.

May your incredibly beautiful soul RIP Michael.

    Love you 4 eternity

  • @BACforMJ hi can someone pleasae explain to me what "kick and run" is please please...

and which one is "crip walk" thanks.....PM me if its okay or reply

  • @BACforMJ Just what I was thinking, at 10! No wonder they thought he was a little adult! He's SO groovy+smooth! Thank you God for that gift :}

  • @BACforMJ that was deep i know that if michael heard that he would be very happy

  • @BACforMJ i agree FORGIVE US, U WERE A BLESS

  • @BACforMJ You said it so beautifully, that's everything I wanted to say.

Michael Jackson was a beautiful gift from GOD that inspired so many people, me especially. I thank GOD for 2 artists that really touches me with their music and really has GOD's hand on them, MJ is one of the 2. I see him and it's like GOD is speaking to me through Michael. MJ represented everything that music, beauty, and love should be. I will L.O.V.E. Michael Jackson for the rest of my life!! Praise the LORD!!!

  • I LOVE the way he sings this.

  • Michael is the greatest, what kid at 9 or 10 can not only sing but dance like Michael, that's what set him apart from other child performers, he combines the 2 better than anyone,he could sang and dance is ass off

  • I dont even think they even signed with Motown yet. The video quality is poor but this may be the ONLY version of this performance. The group is still very RAW but you can see the talent. Apparently Motown saw it and cultivated it and the rest was HISTORY!!! R.I.P. MIKE 1958--2009

  • wow this is amazing!!! thanks for sharing! Michaels vocals are amazing!

  • The funkiest boy ever! MJ is like a mini James Brown.

  • Little mikey was a little funkster

  • I always have a good nite video but i could not get online last nite so this is my good morning video...good morning MJ love you always

  • Holy crap! I think I just saw the most breath taking performance as kid from Michael! That was moving. He was such a man already. wow!

  • you can here a little country in mikes voice too.he was a old soul in little boys body.

  • you think you missed out? i was born in 96. i missed out! my generation's music and today's entertainers suck. i wish that i was born in the seventies.

  • i was born in 97 i agree with you

  • 94 i agree with you

  • @baseballllll1 i was born in 97 2

  • @mapelleaff i do to the music now days is horrible cussing and stuff a shame

  • me 87..still im late..i want 1958 to be exact

  • I desperately need a time machine! I was born in 77, and I missed out on a lot!

  • The Crip walk and a forwards version of the moonwalk at age 10. The King of Pop is a trite title for him. He should just be The Entertainer.

  • yo' this audience is not taking these young boy's serious I guess they know now

  • "Gone Too Soon" ~A true MJ fan from the heart~

  • michael was so sily and funny as a kid

  • did he know what he was singing..

  • Such a talent indeed, amazing. Way ahead of his time! Rest in Peace Michael(L)

  • do that shit mike!!

  • Yo Michael KILLED THAT.

    DAMN.

    RIP.

  • Love Mike's camel walk at 2:19-2:25. A true visionary...WAY ahead of his time.

    Peace & love, MJJ

  • Great full song, Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • It's yout thing : The isley brother

  • Look at him falling in line with his brothers' steps at 2:39!

I keep coming back to this video because I feel both awe and a little discomfort. My jaw drops everytime I watch it but at the same time, ali0015 said: "did he know what he was singin?"

This is the discomfort part. Judging from his moves and the audiences reaction to the pelvic thrusts, it seems so to me. And assuming he did know, I think no 10 year old is supposed to be that sexually aware...

  • if you read the moonwalk book he wrote him self he said when he was around this age he did not know what he was singing about he just sung what he was told

  • I haven't read Moonwalk. I saw an interview with 11-12 year old Michael however and he was very convinced "he wouldn't sing what he didn't mean". Oxymoron yes, I'm sure this was what he was told to say but when I consider his extraordinary ability to interprete a song his own way from very very early ages, I have a hard time understanding how one "interpretes" and channels the right emotions when he does not understand the meaning of it.

  • @barisms and they say there's nothing sexual about michael as a person..but then as an artist he can always do what he wants to portray on stage whether its trying to be bad, sexy, cool, smooth, kind, innocent..he can portray anything and anyone..as they said michael can be anything he wants to be, because he does anything on a higher level..it was said that he can mimic anyone's moves and vocal style even..with michael there are no limitations..that is why he's colorless

  • rest in peace...

  • Such talent :)

  • outstanding I think this was their 1 st public performance at the black beauty pagent...R>I>P MJ

  • Michael <3

  • You are THE ROCK STAR MJ . . . man, young and gifted . . . bl;essed from above, as you said . . . always thanking God for your gifts!

  • Mike had incredible stage presence! OMG..can you say mannish!?!?! lolol I see you Mike I see you!

  • Amazing ... Just Amazing... Indeed The Chosen One...

  • Was this before they got famous?

  • Yes. They were already sined to Motown. But the big audince dind'nt know the yet.

  • he was only like 10! OMG he was an amazing lil fella

love u michael, ur always the best!

  • Comment removed

  • slick move 2:34-2:35

  • In 300 years, if earth still exists, he will be remembered as Mozart of R&B/Pop/Soul/Funk, I promise!

  • Did this little cat just do the Camel Walk? To be that young and be able to do would I just saw. Incredible. Now you GOT to know there is a God.

  • THE CHOSEN ONE...MICHAEL RIP

  • 3:53 & beyond is completely amazing

this kid is 10 dancing like a pimp at a playa's ball, then looks to the rest of the group & falls in line with the steps like its nothing

    gangsta

  • The lyric to this song are under the Isley Brothers....

  • is this their first televised performance? wow such a historic moment if it is.

  • sang it mike!!! it just blows my mind how he remembers the dance steps while singing he was just a kid. and OMG don't get me started on that voice

  • I love his lil' southern accent back then.

  • what are the lyrics to this i cant find it ANYWHERE!

  • LOLS! Oh Mike... <3

I was as surprised as the audience when he did his little pelvic thrust. XD I didn't know he was doing that even when he was young... Oh, you're so cute, Mike.

  • hahahahaha...that is the crip walk at 1:19. I love him:)

  • it was not the crip walk ?

  • we're talking about 1:19

  • lol it do look like da c walk

  • it did though lol

  • Is that the crip walk dance at 1:19 or is it my imagination playing tricks on me.
