@NikolaGB Yeah that would be fine to run Windows 7. What sort of programs have you got running in Windows 7 ? There could be a whole host of reasons why W7 runs slower. For instance I had a friend with a W7 computer and he said it was running slow, after a quick look I removed Norton AV and installed Avast and the computer was flying again. You need to look at what programs are hogging resources. Thats what can be slowing your pc down :-)
@emtildeath Well the programs i used on 7 were the same as the programs i used in vista only the antivirus on 7 was avast and on vista im curently using microsoft security essentials so i think vista is the better OS :)

@44971719785648751978 of course it does - thats why on my toshiba laptop it takes 2 mins and 25 secs to start up... and btw im only using about half my hard drive and i hv intel core 2 duo 2gb ram... windows vista is ok but it takes a hell of a long time to start up, but once its started up its fine, its fast :)

Although Windows 7 seems like a service pack for Windows Vista with improve and some upgrades, it is actually better. One main reason is that...Win Vista used a lot of memory, while Win 7 used much lesser memory.

I too Face the Slow Bootup Problem in Windows Vista, after Installing fresh Licensed Copy. It was boot Like Rocket. But when I updated it, and new microsoft Updates installed, It made My Rocket Visat, to Old Bull CArt :(. But When I removed All Windows Updates and It Again Become Super Fast Rock VISTA :).
This really doesn't seem right, I have 2 laptops, one on Vista and one on Windows 7 and 7 is so slow to load. I have Vista on my 2year old hp with AMD Athlon 64 x2 at 1.9Ghz (Dual Core) and windows 7 on a sony vaio using an intel core i5 at 2.4Ghz dual core and they are about the same time to boot fully, I don't see how it was that slow for vista :S??
@Zinraf This is Sony Vaio problem - it has too many Sony-made programs and utilities that run on startup (like dozen or more). I know this because I own Sony Vaio (SR series) that came with Windows 7. It was quite slow first but then I did a fresh install from retail copy of Windows, and laptop ran much faster after that. Boot time was cut by ~10 seconds.
My Macbook Pro boots up in 9 seconds. I have both a mac and a PC with exactly the same specs and my mac performs way better.

I didn't notice much of a difference between Vista SP2 and Windows 7 for my laptop of which is still pretty decent.
RAM usage was pretty much identical although I did like the feel of Windows 7 more.
7 has some nice touches that Vista didn't have but still I prefer Vista over XP anyday. XP just looks too outdated to me.
Got myself a nice Corsair Force F60 SSD and boot times are now <20seconds.
Seriously, most people who say "Vista is crap" most likely haven't even tried it before.

i have Dual Core 1.60GHz
2.00GB ram
Geforce 9500gt 1GB VGA
and my vista is faster than that windows 7
If you wants fast speed in any PC Don't install much programs!

@chillydog12345 Depends. It Your machine supports the games, it shouldn't. If it supports, then it's the OS' problem. Upgrading to 7 might fix it. I've used XP for ages, Vista for 2 weeks and I've just installed 7. Windows 7 is running faster than XP! <--- FACT!

I would like Windows 7 but a few reasons why i don't is because of the sounds (Some are weird), and also from the display for the windows you are using. I like the bard on Vista better. :)

not true, my windows vista ultimate on my laptop start up even faster than your windows 7 in this video, i put my laptop side by side with this video, i wonder what happen to your windows vista in this video?

thats innaccurate! your windows vista takes ages to load up. My laptop has vista and it loads slightly faster than 7 shown on your video.
It obviously depends on the hardware

My Win 7 boots up in about 30 - 35 seconds, Has everything on it too. Office 07 ect..
My Vista boots up in about 35-40 and has about the same if not more applications.

my 7 boots in about 15 seconds. my ubuntu takes 5-10 seconds. Both are on the same PC. Both Os'es rock but 7 is more user friendly. I will use both through out the years!

My 1 year old Acer computer is upgraded to Windows 7 BTW your Vista computer is too slow for 1 minute and 23 seconds and your Windows 7 computer is about 48 seconds! Vista sucks! Windows 7 rules the world!!!

My Hp Computer has Windows 7 but it is towice as Fast the i am seeing right now mine has a seacret way to fix the system like New! Eat that Vista But away i have 2 hard drive my laptop is very power ful but vista is weak. There is no way that vista can cache up to my program my Local Disk contan 450 GB free space right now i have 418 but my recovery is 2.51 GB free space from 1.53 but vista dos not have this cool feuter so get rid of vista and get you windows 7 computer.

I too Face the Slow Bootup Problem in Windows Vista, after Installing fresh Licensed Copy. It was boot Like Rocket. But when I updated it, and new microsoft Updates installed, It made My Rocket Visat, to Old Bull CArt :(. But When I removed All Windows Updates and It Again Become Super Fast Rock VISTA :).

That is an enormous difference.

This really doesn't seem right, I have 2 laptops, one on Vista and one on Windows 7 and 7 is so slow to load. I have Vista on my 2year old hp with AMD Athlon 64 x2 at 1.9Ghz (Dual Core) and windows 7 on a sony vaio using an intel core i5 at 2.4Ghz dual core and they are about the same time to boot fully, I don't see how it was that slow for vista :S??

@Zinraf This is Sony Vaio problem - it has too many Sony-made programs and utilities that run on startup (like dozen or more). I know this because I own Sony Vaio (SR series) that came with Windows 7. It was quite slow first but then I did a fresh install from retail copy of Windows, and laptop ran much faster after that. Boot time was cut by ~10 seconds.
