Just make sure you get either a nihm 7.2 or lipo 7.4. The 8.4 that the buggy comes with creates many problems such as losing radio signal, the dreaded "my car will not run when I press the trigger" If you decide to go the lipo route dont forget to set the low batter shutoff mode in the esc menu to prevent ruining your battery.

Hi I have a question. I'm a teenager boy looking for a fun and fast Rc car, so for Christmas I'm thinking of getting 1/10 2.4Ghz Exceed RC Electric SunFire RTR Off Road Buggy. Do you think this is a good machine for a lowish price? I don't really want to ask for a $160 one. Please let me know if this is a good choice.

That buggy is exactly the same as a Redcat Tornado EPX Pro.

You don't have to change anything, except maybe the battery connector. The Deans Ultra plug that comes with the Tornado EPX Pro is the best connector. I have that buggy and I use Venom 5000Mah packs, and they give more power.

have you had any trouble with sand/dirt getting in the CV joints at all and how do you prevent it? Other than dont go in dirt/sand. HAHA I love mine just got it on Friday already ran out the battery three times. Switched connectors on truck and battery to Traxxas so I can use my fast charger and bigger batteries.

I am 4 Battery NiMh 3000mAh, and the car runs very well. With Lipo 2s the Car Fly!! You can see my last video (The rear wheels are from truck, and the car is difficul to control, but it can make wheelies with Lipo 2s!! ;) )

I am not sure also, but i estimate with 7,2v NiMh 40-45km/h.  With Lipo2s near 55Km/h.

I wouldnt buy one again. You have to order parts, no hobby store carries them. I think they are based out of cali. If you have the money buy something from lhs instead of oredering.

If you are getting th brushless you need the better battery. they dont run at all with the 2000mah. If you have a bit of money get a battery from your lhs.

Depends on who you talk to. Most people prefer brushless because you dont have to tune, instant power, and alot cleaner and easier to work on. And the way it is going I think electric will take over. I will not buy nitro because you tinker with it more than you use it.

i have a stock sunfire but got a 11.1v lipo for it ($30, 3000mAh) and it clocked the radar gun at 54.3mph, stock gearing and all! my runtimes are usually 30min because i can rarley go top speed!

I had a nitro, and this is faster and easier, no hopeing the car will start and trying to figure out whats wrong when it doesnt start, plus no having to buy nitro all the time!

mine is brushless, its very durable, its been in some violent wipe outs at 50mph and kept on going! just one tip, keep all electronics secure because if not a crash at 50mph will be like a person no wearing a seat belt!. Only thing i had to replace on this car are the tires, cuz with 11.1v of madness in it, and a heavy foot (or finger) they will be bare in about 5 runs! but they sell simular tires at your local hobby shop! just be carful though, i ran into my foot at 50mph,OW! the car was fine:)
