i had the same problem with my 2005 nissan titan. I put a cold air intake in it and put some bosch plugs in, magnaflow exhaust, 3 inch piping, superchip performance chip. I noticed after a few weeks it got worse and worse with acceleration. It then started backfiring. Had my truck scanned at the nissan dealership and they said everything was normal. about 2 months passed by and it started backfiring. I then thought maybe I had a bad batch of fuel in my tank. Ran it dry and filled it up.
Glasspacks are not louder than Flowmaster, unless you get a quieter, more baffled muffler. I have one on my Dakota with the 5.9 in it and it is still fairly quiet.
hey couldnt help but wonder why you were having problems wit your truck i've got a 40 series flowmaster on my 98 5.2 and cut da cats out and i never had any problems
*UPDATE*= i took it to a dodge dealer wow what a bill, anyway i put bosch platinum 2 spark plugs in my truck auto zone had them for 12.99 for a 2 pack, i was at the local wal-mart and they had them for 8.88 for a 2 pack, so i bought them and put them in. about a month later i started noticeing all my problems. any way thats what it was it cost total about 450.00 to get everything fixed , they told me to never put after market plugs in always you what came out.
*UPDATE*= they cleaned the tps and air flow sensor and the contacts and reset the computer. still have problems. soooooo my truck has an appointment on monday to have the exhaust put back to normal :-( this blows. anyone ever hear of somethig like this ? i'm so exhausted! ;-) had to throw that in there lol
@legacy0367 Was the Flowmasters the problem? I'm about to buy myself a set for my 99 Dodge Ram, it looks exactly like yours same color and everything, just different wheels.
*UPDATE*= Since i started out putting high flow exhaust parts on my truck i've had nothing but issues. with the delta flow i burned out the 02 sensor. about 2 months ago i upgraded and had a super 44 installed single in duel out. now my truck stalls when in drive and low rpm's and when turning. have you ever tryed turning a dodge ram with no power steering? Wow what a beast ! i took it in to have it looked at but since no check engine light it's a guessing game.
@legacy0367 If your 02 sensor is pooched wouldn't it cause the Check engine light to be on?All vehicles with gutted cats have the light on I don't see why it wouldn't with yours?
@legacy0367 How much parked revving do you do? O2 sensors get hot bud. The low RPM thing would worry me, but my money calls it a Crankshaft Positioning Sensor that's failing, but not totally gone.
In this video it was a single exhaust. Last week I went in and had a dual flowmaster super 44 installed and I'm lovein it !!! As soon as I can get a video up I will. No more delta for me !
do you still have your cats on? I got a ram 1500 single cab and i'm thinking about getting the super 44 flowmasters. If it sounds like that with just the exhaust then i'm going to get it. very nice sound
I have this same muffler on my chevy (5.7L) 3 inch single in dual out, im assuming this is the same set-up. At first i wished that it was louder. But now that ive had it for a few years, the exhaust has broken in and gotten louder. I noticed it about 6 months after i got it put on, so just be patient! it gives my truck a deep and clean sound that is pretty loud, but none of that crackling obnoxious shitty sounding stuff.
It Just Sounds Very Quite Inside The Cab, But I Guess That's Why I Got The Delta Flow, Im Going To Change It To The Super 44 Dual, I Hope That Sounds Good I'll Keep You Updated
Nice truck, what u could do to make it louder and still have the flowmaster without taking out your cat or gutting it or any of that. Get a exhaust cut out they make they manual which you would have to un cap it and re cap it , or the electric cut out which u can go from the quieter flowmaster to the loud open headers, and you could choose between noise and performance.
if its not loud enough you need to eliminate the catalytic converter or intsall a high flow cat, then if not enough the exhaust manifold off a 1st generation ram is a cheap alterative to headers and i hear good things about that.. also never cut off mufflers, i made the same mistake 2 weeks ago and am having to pay to get it fixed, trust me, 40s series can be plenty loud enough, but not on its own..
sounds good, just don't straight pipe it ever, that sounds like vomit. if you want it louder taking the cat off or installing a magnaflow highflow cat will increase the decibels =)
Idk how you only spent 215 bucks dude but that is probably the reason, one you need to get true duals so its loud and get high flow cats, that is where you get the loud from, and to all you guys that straight pipe your truck, i hope you don't rod your trucks too much cuz your engine will blow up sooner or later from lack of back pressure
Hey I just spent $215 on a flowmaster 40 series exhaust system and it sucks, mines not loud at all, I have stock headers its a 5.9l and I dont know what to do...I wanted straight pipes but I wasnt going to spend $350
dude if you want a louder pickup you made the mistake of putting mufflers on...dont get me wrong i like the way dodges sound with flowmasters but i like dodges with 2in pipe and no mufflers even better!
some people just want a more aggressive sound but not too loud to annoy you when your in the cab, especially when you do lots of highway miles.. havin that same rpm for hrs on end drives anyone crazy. i think this truck sounds aggressive enough but it's tolerable
check out the 50 Series SUV Flowmaster, it has a sweet ass growl, type is 50 Series Flomaster SUV into youtube and scroll down to a silver dodge ram 1500 HEMI, i love it thats what i have
sounds good but like you said can never be loud enough..check my video of mine i have a $25 thrush welded not bad but its no where near as loud as this
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Are you fucking kidding me? How dare you say "wish it was louder" Go take your exhaust off and sound like the rest of the morons on the road with "souped up cars"
with any open exhaust your ognnaget "crackles" even with magnaflow or gibson.. or a 20$ glasspack.. dont matter what exhaust as long as its open it will "crackle" i personally think when it doesn that it sounds mean
if you dont want to spend to much money buy a thrush glasspack and its got nice tone but like any truck with a muffler when its cold out it dosnt sound that overly great
so quick question is the truck a 5.9 and is it single to dual or is it true dual and are there cats because i bought the 40 series and i just wanted to get an idea of how it was goinng to sound
hey tripple dumbass 4.7's didnt come out until the 3rd generation dodges thats a 2nd gen....so dont tell someone to learn their truck when you dont even know what you are talking about
@Muddinginmopar, but do you have a cat/converter, can make a difference.
