@craigb1015 That reason could possibly have something to do with the visual over the vocal... She's good, but Shmerlea has a point and should be able to express his opinion, no?
When I was in HS...which was not so long ago, this number would have been so toned down, if not completely cut (what prudes they were, the administration). What this young lady does, and how she looks, is something we never would have dreamed of seeing and parents would have been terribly pissed off. Glad times they are-a-changin'!
Great voice, great moves and great persona! Where ever she may be today, she should be in NY! For a HS kid to play a part so sexual, so sensual and sultry, without edit, (like what they do to "Rent", "Hair"...etc...) is too cool. Brava!
WOWZERS!! An extremely talented young lady here! She's got the vocals, the charisma and everything in between. It's a pity she wasn't miced though. Her voice got a little drowned out sometimes but by no fault of hers whatsoever.
Hi! I'm performing this song in just a few short days, and haven't seen the musical in it's original stage format. If anyone can let me know what the situation is, what happens right before this, where this scene happens and what the typical costume would be- that would be completely fantastic/
Ah, there's a Trinity High School here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and its my home school apart from the Performing Arts school I attend. Still, this school holds alot of talent. Thanks for sharing :)
Haha i love the costume for this! The only reason this was allowed to be performed on my high school stage was because It wasn't really a high school production, we did it over the summer!
@mkmih01 It really depends on the staging. My school isn't so relaxed either, but recently we've done Fame (in which one of the main characters ODs) and Jekyll and Hyde (one of the main characters is a lady of the night and half the cast dies.)
@broadwaybabi91 Is great that they let you do all this in your HS....as when I was in HS, we did 'safe' musicals..aka....."Godspell", "Oklahoma", "Mame", "Oliver." All like Milk. Now, they do "Rent" and the HS's rip it apart. Better not to do at al because of the wacked out parents who say what is and what is not, appropriate, not only for their kids, but for all kids. Last year, did 'concert' version of Rent, but made me play "Angel" the transvestite, as I was older and 'out'! So frightened!
the vocals suck. serriously she need to learn how to belt and do something other than the betty boop pose.

@TheShmerlea There is a reason this video has almost 50,000 views. You post a video of you singing this song then we'll talk about belting.
