Man you critics are killin me. (all good comments though) I have long since gotten a full skirt, all new PA system with QSC mains and subs, new lights, new truss, new projector, video screen and robotic camera.
Got a video of it all in action. Will have to post it soon, just to keep you guys happy ;)
hi there i noticed a slight buzz when the music stoped if you have a look on ebay and get a ground loop isolator for between the laptop and the mixer it will ilimanate the slight buzzing noise you get i had the same trouble and your lights are nice i have a similer steup but i have 8 par 56's and a derbi as well as acme dynamo and a strobe as well
and also i notice i think it was winamp you were using to play the music it is good for the karaoke but for music i would recomend using virtual dj studio 5 as it automaticly fades the song that is playing and brings in the next track so you have no gaps in the music
Very unprofessional looking. Invest in some black extension cords and a road case. Also loose the tacky screen. You can purchase a used one for a couple of hundred dollars on eBay. Also purchase a short throw lense for the projector so the image will fill the screen. Do those things you will have a decent setup.
Thanks for the suggestions. In my own defense this was the first time setting up my truss and i have since gone with all black cords and made some other improvements.
The screen was a one time DIY thing that i decided to do a few days before NYE and hasnt been used since.
May look into your other recommendations in the future if i decide to do more with the projector.
Road case looks good, but the amp is 37 lbs a decent case is another 20-50 lbs, then add the mixer. 1 guy setup = a sore back
The PA system is all Behringer. I mentioned the details on the Amp and Mixer in my other responses. The speakers are Behringer B1520 Pro's. So far so good with this batch of Behringer equipment. Had some issues with a powered mixer i had previously and some cheaper Behringer speakers.
Nice. I was thinking of some Behringer P-series stuff at first, but I couldn't find something to fit my budget. I got Yamaha speakers, Behringer mixer, and a cheap Gem Sound power amp for me. I'd like some lights though.
No all sound active. I have a Chauvet DMX 44 controller, but after hooking everything up and seeing how much work it was going to be, i opted to leave it at home. For the limited amount of work that im doing, i doubt ill ever use it.
Most people will tell you only purchase DMX lighting. My effects lights and LED Pars are DMX. The PAR 38 cans and strobe are not. I bought cheap sound active controllers for those. Im no expert, but the DMX stuff seems higher quality and usually has no duty cycle.
I understand why you think going with DMX might be a bit of work, and I absolutely agree that it is very time consuming. Personally I think you could take the time to set up maybe 3 banks of scenes and put them all in one chase. Usually people don't realize when the chase starts over, and by using a controller the sound activation happens all at once, and the lights are all coordinated with each other.
Nonetheless, this is a nice set-up and I personally would hire you if I were in need of a DJ.
I was going to get an active sub for my set-up, but after realising how expensive they are , I opted for a more powerful active mid - high range speaker. This seems to add more volume and power to the whole system and considering the cost I am very pleased. I would recommend you do the same.
Steve what did you end up going with and are you running 4 speakers now or 2? If 4 are you running all of them off one amp or did you add a 2nd amp as well?
basically I have my 2 full range passive speakers for the main sound, and I also have a single more powerful active full range speaker to create the added power i wanted in the set up. so basically 3 speakers 2 passive (main ones) and 1 active but powerful one under my table.
Its an Optoma EX525ST.

Nope powered by the EP2500 Behringer AMP.
They seem to do the job O.K., although i have been considering a powered sub.
