  • I find this to be soothing.

  • this is the best instrument ever

  • it would be nice to hear a few more notes....

  • There's an album of long-string instrument music on New Albion Records. Peace.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • She is running her fingers along the strings both caressing and pulling. Musical note marks on the floor identify the location along the strings where one can achive a specific pitch.

  • What?!? Just pluck it once and it goes on for more than a minute?

  • No, you put rosin on your hands and drag them along the strings so that they resonate. Peace.

  • It's hard to see what's happening here exactly. Is she gradually pulling a string through something else?

  • I love it.

  • I saw Ellen play this in Austin, circa 1985. I think it was in conjunction with an amazing meditation-on-the-chakras piece by performance artist Linda Montano. It's cool to hear it again. In person, and over a longer time-span, it's a truly awesome experience.

  • Actually I took this video last month at the Headlands Open House.

  • it's actauly called the long string instrument and i think this video was made in the seventies so you'll be hard pressed to find any more of it.

  • Funny, I saw her play at Bard College during 2008. Peace.

  • aww that is so cool. what do you call that instrument?. i would love to hear more.
