  • its pretty cool but you meet the worst people in these clubs around the u.s and when it gets right down to it all they care about is money. being someone who spent some time in chinese martial arts i saw a comedy called (the foot fist way) and it brought back alot of memories . everybody on this page should watch it

  • wrestling is awesome

any culture that had warfare had developed some way to grapple int eh beginning before developing a striking martial art because humans are more familiar with throwing and grabbing than punching/kicking

i like how wrestling is an ancient martial art that is overlooked in many cases, the most brutal force of this fighting style is once you have grabbed onto your enemy they know theyre at ur mercy if they have no knowledge of grappling and how to counter

  • So is this the Kung-fu style of wrestling why now is that I am hearing about this?

  • @Mountshilol

the romans/greeks had wrestling, chinese had wrestling, japan had wrestling, the native americans were known to learn to wrestle as a part of growing up, russia has sambo wrestling, brazilian jiu jitsu, european knights had wrestled, mongolians wrestle, wrestling is awesome

  • @kilkolio Still doesn't explain why now and whats up with the chinese brawling all the time can't even play a basketball game why don't they invent a martial arts for that oh right they did.

  • what the fuck is with whiteys and there obsession with asian things.......

  • @KoolJayJ Maybe because they are good?

  • @KoolJayJ I do Kung Fu and i'm white. What's the problem with that. There are asian people that box, who gives a fuck. If I like something, I'm gonna do it, I dont care what race it originated from.

  • what is the purpose of the guy using the brick

  • @remshot1998 nothing he is a construction worker

  • @remshot1998 the brick is used to bouild strength

  • I have yet to see anyone from this style in any Judo, submission grappling, BJJ, catch wrestling, or general grappling competition. Let me know if someone does because I would be interested to see it in action.

  • @F8sassassin

Ive seen it in action because I was my teachers dummy during sparring class. He's used it during sparring as well. OUCH.

  • @sifujordan I was referring to something like NAGA or Grapplers Quest. Some CREDIBLE grappling competition. I honestly don't think they would fair to well, but I would be interested to see on try. I have been wrong before.

  • @F8sassassin

Here is the deal. Shuai jiao is pretty much unknown in the west, but well known in China. Many of the movements are identical to judo, jujutsu, and other forms of grappling. With approximately 2 billion people in China, I am quite sure there are Chinese who will fair well in any grappling competition. Open your mind, its not about the style, but the person practicing.

  • @ronin752 My mind is more than open. And I agree that it is the practitioner and not the style. But you clearly have never been to any tournament that I was referring to. Might be worth your time to check it out to broaden your own horizons.

  • @F8sassassin i was taught some of these in freestyle wrestler, me = folkstyle/freestyle 8 years.

  • Chinese Martial Arts = Best

  • alot of throws but is there shooting?

  • @s10fisto01 Yes.

  • I would love to see this style go up against jujitsu or MMA!!

  • no businessman support chinese to fight in the UFC, so it's to see it against mma

  • Comment removed

  • careful what you wish for; authentic Chinese martial arts schools have a very "step by step" approach to training, where in the west everything is "sink or swim" with the mentality, you either make it or you don't, Chinese schools train everything in "stages."

  • @iluvideos Jujitsu is a Japanese branch of Chinese wrestling, seizing and locking arts.

  • @ForwardIntent no, it isn't...

  • Awesome!

  • what?your pretty carzy man.

Chin Na is the art which all grappling style decend from.

so what are you talking about?even if u learn one set of throws or ne waza.then you know them all, there all the same jus done different ways.

    go train,and learn.too much youtube training =)

  • haha. that's such an ignorant statement.

  • you really should read more books man. Investigate first then you speak, understand?

  • 好, I like dat!

  • Shuai Jiao is the bomb diggity.

  • it is good self defence

  • Combat Shuai Jiao IS.

  • :32 and :47 are awesome old photos

  • cool vid!

  • Bjj is a sport of ground figth, not traditional martial arts and not selfdefense martial arts.

  • lol you can tell these people are not resisting the throws at all.

  • err.. you do realize they're not supposed to be showing people resisting the throws right? Seriously try to engage your brain before you post.

  • watch a Shuai Jiao competition and you can see these same throws being thrown with full resistance from an opponent who knows what they're doing. It may not be quite as pretty, but it's the same techniques.

  • The thing about wrestling is that, pretty much every culture has it since the beginning. Records for Chinese wrestling can be found in ancient history text dated more than 2k years ago. And honestly, Korean/Mongolian civilizations existed just about as long as the Chinese, and any argument to say one of them invented wrestling is just stupid. The reason to call it Chinese is bc it's different in forms than the one prevailing in Mogolia or Korea.

  • Shuaijiao and Chin Na is a roots of the grapling martials in asia used in batlefield and war. Ground fighting modern not martial self defense in street.Ground fighting is sport of competition in mma not martial of street.

  • is shuai jaio sports focused, self defence focused, combat focused, or spiritual focused or what? and also does it have much ground fighting in it

  • eaye shuai jiao is a grappling, wrestling kind of kung fu. it is mostly combat based. It's where judo came from. it doesn't have much ground fighting. it has a lot of throws and trying to get ur opponent to the ground type.

  • what did the gracies invent ??? specific move please??? i bet anything you name can be rooted to sometype of pankration or chinese art. bjj is a sport not effective in street or on the battlefield. you might want to throw the guy down and apply a lock but the floor is the last place you want to be , that why samurai used the stand up jujitsu as much as possible

  • gracies invented an effective art that took roots from both judo and jujitsu...i agree it isnt the greatest self defense art in my opinion but it is rather good if you apply with other grappling moves shown in shuai jiao, hapkido, etc....and yes the samurais used throws to either disarm, knockout(yes knockout), or put an opponent onto the ground following a knife thrust to the throat...:)

  • ROFL!

BJJ isn't effective in real life because it is a sport?

Thats like saying Boxing isn't effective in real life because its a sport, and we all know thats bullshit.

  • Falling on your back is not a wise tactic against striking, weapons, or multiple opponents. You get stabbed/gang stomped doing that. That is what they are saying. That is why BJJ is a sport and not self-defense. Yes BJJ guys are tough, etc didn't meant to hurt your feelings...freaking arrogant BJJ "we invented martial arts" twits.

MMA figheres would not use the guard so much if groin punches were legal. :)

  • but ground fighting is important for self defense i know that if me and my buddies were gunna go stab a guy i would take him to the ground then whip out my knife cas at that range i can get in many more stabs before he can do anything also i can hold him down so he cant fight back against my guys. point is must we all be so "no my ways the best" combat sport atheletes (mma ppl and ect) can learn from martial artist the same martial artist can learn from the atheletes just different stuff

  • well, stabbing someone on the ground isn't really classified as "SELF DEFENSE".

  • Will the stabbed guy argue about that? If someone attacks me or loved ones and I have a knife, you can bet I will make sure he don't get back up to pursue me.

  • but stabbing someone on the ground isn't really classified as "self defense"

  • but not getting stabbed on the ground is self defense... let me put it like this if you dont know how to deliver a good punch how are you gunna become good at counter attacking/defending them... sides if 3 guys jumped me with knives and on of em took me to the ground and i got my hands on his knife i would stab him and joyfully call it self defense.... better judged by 12 than carried by 6... but ey everyone has their own thoughts on budo so im not calling you wrong or anything

  • it aucally happened once sum drunk wrestler was picking a fight with sum guy on the street he pinned the guy to the floor but the other guy had a knife n stabbed him in the heart n killed him

  • k how bout this... its not as effective as it would be because its a sport... now a question.... how many stand up judo type throws does bjj have?

  • it's not a sport, well now it is, but in ancient times it was not.

  • Every martial art is developed for the cultural/social context they grow out of. Samurai Ju Jutsu uses standup techniques because the ground is not safe in a multiple atatcker/ weapons environment. In Brazil, more street fights are mano a mano between two unarmed men, so BJJ is efficient and safe. In modern times, context is still important. Women's rape prevention? BJJ is perfect. Self defense for a soldier in the middle east? Krav Maga. Context is everything and there's no one best style.

  • Typical Chinese Martial Art, Watered down to the point of shit.

  • it great stuf and china wushu's is 10 times mor god the the brazilian "ju jistu" for all the ignorens pepole

  • Actually, quite a lot of the hand strengthening BJJ and MMA grappling stuff - like tossing the bag - come from Shuaijiao. For groundfighting, undoubtedly BJJ is one of, if not THE, best on the planet, but Shuaijiao has a range of excellent throws and, more importantly, training methods.

  • This is not Garbage, infact Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu derived from Chinese wrestling, well to get technical, it derived from ju jutsu (the Japanese version) which originated from Chin Na, or Judo, but Chin Na was the first grappling art out, so most of the techniques if not all, that are in BJJ where ripped off of Chinese Wrestling

  • That's not quite true. Qin na and shuaijiao are very old, and are almost certainly the roots of jujutsu and judo. But BJJ is a very highly developed fighting style. The movements aren't ripped from shuaijiao - they were developed by looking at physiology and leverage, inspired by JJJ. I'm all for showing shuaijiao off, but credit should go where credit is due.

  • "The movements aren't ripped from shuaijiao - they were developed by looking at physiology and leverage"..... chinese martial arts were all based on physiology as well as certain math. the gracies didnt invent anything, they only made it popular.

  • ...because your name sounds so unbiased. The Gracies did invent things, I think you'll find. I'm not quite sure what you are exactly trying to say, but if the implication is that all BJJ locks are just Chinese qin na, then that's not only wrong, but it neglects the fact that the joint locks found in Chinese martial arts are also found in kampfringen, pankration, and pretty much any all-round MA.

  • Something about fighting on the ground just seem wrong to me. If you taking about self defending, Shuai Jiao or Jiujitus seem to be the way to go. IMO, you should able to fend off mutil-attacker and get away if needed. That's why BBJ is a sport. BBJ were more or less invented for the sport.

  • Its BJJ not BBJ

  • There not inferior techniques, only inferior mind. Throw/grab is harder to guard or block. Boxers or kickboxers that allow themselves to get close enough will get throw to the ground. Plus don't assume the Shuai Jiao guys can't box or kick either. Bjj is a different way of fighting, shuai jiao player's goal remind standing up, not ground fight. Two styles just a mismatch for each other.

  • what school yo0u go to?

  • learning any martial art isn't a waste of time. Bjj is good, but is also weak in many areas. Of course if you get on the ground it's great. One thing if you look at the helio gracie vs kimuro fight helio lost cause he couldn't get the advantage on the take down.

  • is this a taster for something else?

  • thx I like thx video
