I watch the movie everynight*full novel of course!* But I still start bawling when Dally gets killed. I don't know what it is about him but, it's not his "looks" I mean yeah he's fine but, like how he has a bad guy side but, he has a sweet charming side to. And how he loved JohhnyCade so much he died since Johnny did. I've been watching this movie since 1st grade everynight too. And I still can't hold back the tears.R.I.P Dally
aww i was on the verge of tears when soda just shouted damn you guys cause it was sad even though love ponyboy wish it was made in 2012 cause id watch it over and pick these characcters over justin bieber anyday;)
OMG THANK YOU...I never understood why he felt the need to put that music in, ruining the most intimate and emotionally climatic moments. So good to see the original, gritty version. Where did you find this?
:O i love the Curtis Brothers!!!!! I love the Outsiders, and all the characters the movie is soo great! I watched it at school and now i cant stop watching it!!!! I LOVE THE OUTSIDERS!!! SODAPOP <3 PONYBOY <3 DARRY <3 JOHNNY <3 DALLY <3 TWO-BIT <3 STEVE <3 ILOVEYOU <3<3<3<3<3 best movie ever.... like if you agree :) <333
The books really influenced me back in the 70's to be more like the guys in the books, but the movie was nothing like what I thought the book was about.
Everyone was a famous star/pretty boy in the movie. The guys in the book were supposed to be unnoticed tough kids and fighters, not Rob Lowe or Ralph Machio?!?
I thought a guy wrote the book until I was older. Then I figured out why the author went on about things like Ponyboy's hair. :-)
@puppybearz582 thats a no brainer im pretty sure anyones whos read the book KNOWS that dally loves johnnycake ponyboy even points it out he said dally nver loved anything but johnny and now hes gone whuch made him break but im pretty sure u alrady knew that;)
I admit,a lot of the characters are hot. BUT, if you pat attention to the plot you would see just how emotionally genious this is. The book was a master piece. Written from what S.E. Hinton saw when she was growing up, just as the point of veiw of PonyBoy. I admit, I think Dall is hot. BUT, pay closer attention you'll realise how much he really loved Johnycake. <3
@pupppybearz582 I did and it's really you know something you can learn from when dally died it was like i felt everything that's happened to all of them and i understand Dally how that pain can make you go off S.E Hinton is really good at what she does
@pupppybearz582 I noticed that..I saw the movie along time ago not really remembering it. Then probally 2 months ago(14 years old now) I had to read a book for school and I read it in 2 days, watched the movie then probally watched the movie and read the book five times already.
@pupppybearz582 you are so right it's not even funny. I totally agree. The book is awesome, was awesome, and will remain so. There is a lot of emotions going on that you have to look hard for. When you see hints of them in the movie, it's great =)
the only thing that i dont like about the movie is that it seems like sodapop isnt involved in it as he is in the book. I know that the reason is that in the book he tells how he feels more but idk. soda was like my favorite character so it makes me mad haha
@GrantAndGunnar Soda was my favourite character in the book too, that's why I was upset that he wasn't a lot in the movie, and that's why I love this scene.
I also think that the young Rob Lowe is the most beautiful person I've ever seen.
This is not rare at all. It's the complete novel edition movie. You can buy it at target. People who think this is the best movie ever are way too close-minded. Has anyone seen rumble fish or that was then, this is now? This is, to be honest, a pretty crappy movie after you've seen it 25 thousand times. And its so innacurate. There weren't separate "gangs" called the greasers and the socs. Greasers were just kids who worked on cars, hence the word "grease", and wore their hair with grease in it
@AIRmaxGMAILG2 Its explained in the film that "greaser" wasn't a specific gang and that Ponyboy and his friends weren't a gang at all. That's why they met up with other greasers who were gang members before the rumble. I don't think this is the best movie ever but your statement was actually the inaccurate one.
some people r like greasers r hot agreed, i mean damn the socs vs. greasers the greasers are hot, strong & tuff while the socs are ugly wimps. but i really like ponyboy's personality .. he doesnt seem like all the other greasers, he's like the nice one of the group & the smart one he's got more to live for but i still love all the greasers just that ponyboy stands out for me.❤
This will always remain as one of my favorite movies of all time. Saw it for the first time in high school for a literature class. I remember this clip. Brings back lots of good memories. Thanks for sharing :)
I watched this movie a few years ago back in middle school and I cant believe I'm just now finding out there were more scenes and footage.
This is such a tender, heart warming scene. I know this is just a movie but GUYS, there is nothing wrong with showing that you FEEL. That you have FEELINGS and showing a little weakness, a tear, bromancing is NOT considered being a pussy or being gay. I think its so admirable when a guy isn't afraid to express his more vulnerable side. Dont bottle things in
I haven't seen the whole movie i just finished the book and was lookin to see if they got the characters right and saw this now im pretty sure this was not cut out.
Me and my class read the book for LA. and I found it VERY magnificent. The plot of the story and how the ending ends up coming right back to the beginning was a great idea. When My teacher decided she wanted to have us watch the movie, i was so excited:D because i heard how books are different than movies. but this movie was very original. S.E Hinton is a very talented Writer(:
C. Thomas Howell ... Ponyboy Curtis Matt Dillon ... Dallas Winston Ralph Macchio ... Johnny Cade Patrick Swayze ... Darrel Curtis Rob Lowe ... Sodapop Curtis Emilio Estevez ... Two-Bit Matthews Tom Cruise ... Steve Randle
This is the type of book you can't put down, I love the movie but it would have been great if they just showed a little bit more of the brothers, their family was a big part because it brought the whole gang together
this is my favorite scene. it shows what i love most about the book and that's the relationship between the brothers. they're different from each other, but without each other they'd be lost. it's sweet. now i'm going to go re read the book.
This Movie Expleans Alot About Life And Freindship, Family Like This Is My Most Favorite Movie Of All Times Plus I Love Chrsitopher Thomas Howell ,Rob Lowe , And Ralph Macchio <3 But Anyways This Movie Is The Best I Ever Seen In My Whole Life And This The Only Movie I Keep Watchinq All Over Again Each Day I Read The Book In 6th Grade But Im Goinq To 7th Now And I Was The Only One In My Class That Understand The Book And Im 11 Years Old Goinq To 12 And I Still Get The Movie And The Book .
The one thing I disliked about the movie was that it didn't develop the relationship between the brothers.... in the book you see how much Ponyboy admires Soda and it just doesnt come across in the movie! we dont see how Pony thought that Darry hated him, which (if it had come across in the movie like it did in the book) would have made the family reunion at the hospital even more moving! I was just a little disappointed!
THIS ending would have been much better because it would convey all this!
After reading Rob Lowe's book Stories I Only Tell My Friends (which was fantastic, by the way), I decided I seriously had to see this film. He described the closeness of the cast members and how they became great friends during the filming of the movie and the chemistry really shows. He also mentioned that when he saw the movie for the first time, he was infuriated that they didn't put this scene in the movie. As am I. It was a great portrayal of his acting skill and it just completes the movie.
I really loved how much they cared for each other, what they are willing to do for each other and it fills my heart. I absolutely love this book/movie. I love everything about this :)
I wish they showed more of the brothers together, I felt that its a big part of the book and it almost seemed over look, I love this book the movie is great an'all but they should have showed parts like this
i've watched this movie so many times and it always amazes me every time. what a brilliant group of casts, i think each of them portrays the characters brilliantly!
i had to read dis book 4 school i just knew it was gonna be boring but guess wat it wasnt it was so intertaing it was funny sad and drama filled i really loved it i loved the movie too i wish i had it on dvd or tape lol i always read the book i was never inton books untill now i love S.E HINTON she wonderful
damn im a gurl but seriously u people got to stop favoring these guys...I mean dey all are good looking actors but seriously this was in 1983! these guys are in their friggen 40's so if u think they r so hot, look at their pics now in the year 2011 xP
okay, so not to offend anyone or anything, honest. just putting this first. anyway... it's kind of a pain that most of the comments are "omg (insert character here) is sooooo hawwttt" or of the like. i dunno. maybe it's 'cause i read the book and thought the characters were well-developed or that se hinton wrote about the things she saw growing up or something. i just think it's a bit of an annoyance when no one bothers to acknowledge the plot/story, just how attractive actors are.
@BrilliantBluebird Yep, I agree. I'm really get close to disabling the comments. There's at least a dozen or so chicks EVERYDAY that are like - OMG, SODA <3, and all this crap.
@BrilliantBluebird You're right the charecters were very well developed. It makes you feel an attached to them. :)
BUt reading the book and watching the movie the charecters are good looking but thats how the potray their charecter I guess. I REALLY LOVE This book :) Movie was also gr8. :)
@BrilliantBluebird i read the book years ago, before i saw the movie, and i thought hinton made the characters "hot" with just her words. and the casting director just did a good job casting the right people. so yes, i'm going to comment how hot they are because they are suppose to be and they are.
now for people who haven't read the book and just drool over the actors... well welcome to the 21st century where no one reads anymore.
@BrilliantBluebird I read the book to ! Its sooo good and your right ! the character dont even really look how Se hinton described them. -_- its kind of annoying.
@BrilliantBluebird gotta agree with you, reading this in 8th grade this was my favorite book and i love how they pulled it off in the movie,to see people only looking at how hot the actors are annoys me :P
@blackwitch11 I actually just finished the book in my 8th grade Language Arts class, and when I watched the movie I cried :). I loved the book and the movie:D
isn't rob lowe the cuTEST guy in the world?! Soda: I like working at the gas station...working with cars...I'm dumb :)... (sorry i copied that, but it's so cute, just the way he is, i love him so much)
I just bought The Complete Novel version, and as much as the original score might have stirred up more emotions in me while watching it, I think the contrast of the upbeat music of the times with some of the serious scenes is kind of interesting.
@lilidougie you know y she got an F its because gay ass teachers want you to add gay shit into stories that makes them a lot better. authors dont have that shit who the fuck cares about it. this is famous because its plot is good not because it has stuff like figurtive language in it.
i wish my dad got me the full version.

okay, so not to offend anyone or anything, honest. just putting this first. anyway... it's kind of a pain that most of the comments are "omg (insert character here) is sooooo hawwttt" or of the like. i dunno. maybe it's 'cause i read the book and thought the characters were well-developed or that se hinton wrote about the things she saw growing up or something. i just think it's a bit of an annoyance when no one bothers to acknowledge the plot/story, just how attractive actors are.
BrilliantBluebird 8 months ago 63
@BrilliantBluebird Yep, I agree. I'm really get close to disabling the comments. There's at least a dozen or so chicks EVERYDAY that are like - OMG, SODA <3, and all this crap.
How about some constructive comments?

@BrilliantBluebird You're right the charecters were very well developed. It makes you feel an attached to them. :)
BUt reading the book and watching the movie the charecters are good looking but thats how the potray their charecter I guess. I REALLY LOVE This book :) Movie was also gr8. :)
jasz265 8 months ago

I just bought The Complete Novel version, and as much as the original score might have stirred up more emotions in me while watching it, I think the contrast of the upbeat music of the times with some of the serious scenes is kind of interesting.

Can Yu Believe the girl that wrote tha book was 15 years and got a 'F' on it what a dumb teacher.!
lilidougie 10 months ago
@lilidougie you know y she got an F its because gay ass teachers want you to add gay shit into stories that makes them a lot better. authors dont have that shit who the fuck cares about it. this is famous because its plot is good not because it has stuff like figurtive language in it.

@SelenaRox5546 there is no listing of a remake of this film on imdb's website. so thankfully this is just a rumour.
