  • As a long-time 78 collector, I thought I had heard them all - but this is a new one for me and what a great number...

Being new to YouTube I am not getting much sleep !

    Thanks for this !

  • Merci. Très bel hommage à Marlène.

  • Excellent!

  • Maybe you're thinking of Remember My Forgotten Man, another great Depression song...Bro.Can You Spare a Dime was written by Harburg and Gorney.

  • @jqbertlee

    OOPS!

You're right of course. Sorry about that. Thanks for the correction.

  • I Have This And Other Versions Of This Song . Including The One By Chester Leighton.( But Mine Is On A DIVA) I Love Boath . Very Neet To Find On You Tube. Thanks So Much For Posting.

  • Terrific song - terrific Marlene!

"Madonna? Who is this Madonna? I have sat with the Crown Heads of Europe." -- Marlene Dietrich

  • I have the Harmony (Columbia) of this as Chester Leighton and his Sophomores, (Ben Selvin) vocalist might be Harold "Scrappy" Lambert. The vocalist on this is a very swingy and jazzy Frank Luther.

Another very scarce Victor from 1930. Great Record. All star Orchestra.

  • This song would be well suited to a western swing adaptation, even a 'gypsy jazz' version.

    Great melody!

  • Yes I have a passion for pre-War classic cars but have to enjoy them through friends. Out of my price range.

  • Hard to get sympathetic for his troubled love life with such an uplifting tune. He should lift his spirit by going to see a Dietrich movie.

  • Shows how versatile Joe Venuti was. Great shot of Dietrich with the Auburn Speedster.

  • And the Cadillac 16 cylinder town car.

  • Delightful selection!

  • Great Marlene Slideshow!!

    Nice Song!

    Thanks for uploading!

  • Lovely melody, esp. at the end. But I keep hearing "Buddy Can You Spare a Dime" from time to time. Deliberate? My imagination? Love M's spiky hair that first sppears ca. 00:53. She wore a Mohawk long before anyone else, whether it's a wig or a hat.

  • Maybe it's because Harry Warren wrote both melodies? I think "Buddy can you spare a dime" was in the movie "Gold Diggers of 1933", music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Al Dubin. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

  • Great Orchestra and fashion pictures of the l930's thanks.....

  • Good number & verry good recording technique, I wish I had Marlene's Packard

  • Nice one! Let's call it the anti-Valentine's Day song.
