Hmm. Challenging Gnome at level 32, I found that Megasonic Thrust > Snout Flare. It did get a King Tackle in though (and a whole lotta summon friends) but the fight finished pretty quickly with Arc Wind + Megasonic Thrust.

I do, its just they don't seem to jump when they're spell casting etc.

hold l1(or was it L2) then jump. then the whole party will jump.
