@Steve98966 Yeah through the Vigilance Tree but u wont be able to compare ur damage to that of a Jedi Sentinel who's speced in either watchman or the combat but you'll still be able to do as much damage as u can, Hope that helps.

As for the amount of people complaining about the P2P part of the game , if a game is worth the money its fine if it isnt then you can bitch. When a game like this spends the amount of money it did just to make it , it needs to make a profit. As for if its the WoW killer no its not just because WoW population is so huge and it has to many people that play it reliougisly, but it has done a severe blow, Guild wars 2 , Diablo 3 and then even WoWs own expansion MOP will be the final blows to wow
@jcoonie2 this to F2P movement is shortsighted and stuipid, nothing is really F2P , they just become pay too win, ie microtransactions, look at worl of tanks for instance, sure i can logg in and have a little fun, but cant compete with a person that payed 20$ for gold ammo, so paying 15$ a month to be competive isnt that bad, i know people that have dropped 100$+ on league of ledgends.
@dennisisawesome yes but compare it to the price of buying a new game and finishing it every month. 2 games for 2 months would cost $120 an MMO (which will last you a lot longer than 2 months) will cost $75 for that same 2 months.
To everyone bitching about balance issues and lack of content in comparison with WoW: This game came out 2 fucking days ago, WoW's been out for 7 years. If you're going to compare the two, grow a brain and compare TOR to when WoW was first released. Protip: TOR looks more balanced 2 days after release than WoW did, or even is right now 7 years later.
This looks like a brilliant game which I would certainly enjoy (despite the fact I did not enjoy WoW) but... How do people justify a £9p/m subscription fee on top of a full price release of this game? If you wanted to play it for a year (which lots of people would for a game like Skyrim, a good RPG equivalent) you're paying around £130! Does the extra play time really amount to the extra cost? I'd love if some people could provide some statistics to back that up.
@tishwalter Skyrim also lacks an entire universe of multiplayer experience. Not dogging on Skyrim, I personally love it. However, it is nothing in comparison to a colossal MMO like SWTOR, when it comes to money atleast. Plus, the developers have to maintain the game via patches, moderators, etc..
In terms of play time would I get as much play time out of say Skyrim (through mod support etc.) as I would SW:tOR? Just how much play time would you expect out of SW:tOR?
But do they really need to spend that much on upkeep. Take Xbox Live for example, £40 per year with far more people using it. The difference is server hosting, does it really cost that much more? Is the monthly subscription fee at £9p/m because WoW has shown people will pay that?
@tishwalter Also compare the price of this game to say Guild Wars, where there is no subscription fee sharing all of the same costs. The only real difference is content, where SW:tOR will probably have more content. However GW has given more and more content out with expansions (well, full games in their own right).
@tishwalter I do Hope your not trying to compare the first guild wars and SWTOR, it just doesnt happen , im gonna start by saying i loved guild wars but even with the B2P vrs P2P SWTOR wins , mainly because it has more freedom and more of a MMO feel to it where as Guild wars failed at making it feel like a true MMO , Guild wars 2 however i have hopes for.
@jcoonie2 I think the first GW and SW:tOR are an excellent comparison in terms of costings. Guild Wars differed in only one true way, and that is the level of content produced being presumably less than that of SW:tOR. Both involve instanced sections (far more in GW, likely increasing costs), both require the same levels of moderation, both require dedicated servers and therefore upkeep of those. The only real difference is Bioware paying Lucasarts for the use of the Star Wars IP.

Skyrim has about 320 hours of gameplay packed into it, about two weeks of gameplay total. SWTOR, with Endgame content/questing/PvP could easily sum to months of gameplay, and thats only for one character. If you roll alts, easily even more weeks and months of gameplay. MMOs often deliver tons of gameplay.
@pwuint12 grinding doesnt equal gameplay dude, most mmos endgames dont offer more content than a game like skyrim. Sure, if you tried to do every single quest, explore every tomb, all that stuff, then yea an mmo would have more content, but exciting content should be the goal, not just quantity
@canadiananim8r Grinding certainly is part of a game, especially Endgame. PvP is grinding, either to get the next best piece or a new rank. I do understand it is sometimes for fun, but mostly its to get gear. If you've ever played WoW you'd know that it involves a lot of Raid grinding and dungeon grinding to achieve things such as gear getting or acheivments. Professions in any game involve tons of grinding, for materials and experiences. Grinding is most definitely a part.
@pwuint12 i know grinding is a part of NORMAL mmos, but look at guild wars 2, everything weve seen of it thusfar has shown that not only is raiding and pvp interesting, but theres no real grinding per se. I know we'll have to wait for gw2 to be released to know if it can deliver on its promises, but honestly it feels like the grinding days may be over. Also i did play wow, after hitting the cap in a month, i spent two boring months grinding then i quit

@megamarsvin By options I mean more content. Skyrim does not have PvP, nor does it have multiplayer PvE experiences [ex. dungeons, battlegrounds, raids]. SWTOR has a huge base of players, offering a variety of questing experiences which may be solo, or, unlike Skyrim, group questing. SWTOR is a standard MMO, but with a plot, theme, and gameplay twist. You don't have swords or axes, you have light sabers, you don't have bows, you have blasters. It is WoW reorganised w/ SW story.
just in terms of a silly question about balance issues, would the jedi/siths abilities be good in whatever strategy they use, for example as the bounty hunter rockets are good against people who bunch up

One of the main reasons I am so excited about this games is the future possibilities. I have not yet got it as I am out of the country. But from what I understand there are entire galaxies with only relatively few planets that are playable. Combined with the fact that there is almost a 3000 year gap between this and the movies allows for very interesting story as well as expansions. The possibilies are technically limitless
I am sure many have brought this up but the flamer actually doesn't light people on fire after it hits them. That would be your combustible gas cylinder (always make sure you have your cylinders turned on because for the later half you didn't have it on) Another thing is that the pyrotech isn't the melee one its the ranged set up the advanced prototype is the melee dps user of the Powertechs
It figures, I have to crawl the web over to find someone actually seeing and talking about the same things in game that I am and of course it has to be with the (as I also am guilty of) widely ignored Bounty Hunter class. You've at least shown me what they can do, so I will be a bit more attentive with my Jedi Sage in the future.
Although I must say I find it funny that you "fear" the Jedi Knight Sentinel, I deleted my level 32, they had too little to offer in PvP (0 stuns, 0 knockback, 0 root)

Have to admit with my limited experience of PvP so far seems like Bounty Hunters get ignored too much, pretty much most games they're up at the top of the Damage meters. Dunno whether this is them being OP or the "Oh, you don't have a lightsaber, you're no threat" factor
is Swtor graphically demanding? i have a intel Inspiron dual core processor 2.66 Ghz 4Gb ram and a Nvidia Geforce 9400 Gt and i'm wondering if thats enough to play this game full graphics.
@DashburntBottom Well I was playing with a Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.33ghz, 3GB ram and ATI radeon HD 2600 XT 512mb which is equivalent to the 8600 GT. I could play the game on low settings at around 30fps. The 9400 GT is also equivalent to the 8600 GT so considering that I'd say you'd be looking at low settings around 35-40FPS as your CPU and GPU are slightly better. Also take into consideration this game isn't optimized very well. Upgrading to the 220GT would help quite a bit.
TB's point about SW>WoW is invalid. PvP in SW just doesn't look dynamic enough for me. People just stand there shooting and being shot without even moving. Not to mention lack of animation quality... And I can't quite see how generic lightsaber without proper glow and looking like Lady Gaga's disco stick could be in any way cooler than a badass 2H axe :P
Is there a long range class that has an in-combat healing ability WHILE specced for dps? I understand that most classes can heal and tank; can they do both at the same time? To what degree?
Anyone saying story is not a part of gameplay needs to burn, btw. They can do a single "define: gameplay" on google if they want to know why I can say that. Your personal taste may not be that of enjoying story, but it is a part of the gameplay formula for an MMO and many games overall. It is generally the variation and choices an RPG gives that make the story replayable, you get this in TOR, not in WoW for instance. That is what gives the story element re-playability.
Me and my best friend are going to play this game, im going to be a bounty hunter and he is going to be inquisitor or whaterevr it's called, And we are looking forward to be noobs again :D

@rafaelkorova And all of those elements in WoW are stolen from other games. If SWTOR is a WoW clone, then WoW is an EQ clone. It turns out games in the same genre tend to have similar aspects. Who'da thunk it?

Im so gutted Bioware got bought by EA in 2008. Now I just will not get this game. Cannot see myself trowing my money towards EA. Hopefully it goes F2P fast.
Wow you were doing much better than everybody else it seems. This is why I love the Bounty Hunter, especially the powertech. Played one in beta...great stuff.
I really loved the Sith Marauder in PVP during the beta, seriously, that class gave one of the best melee combat experience I ever had in an MMO, maybe it doesn't had lots of damage, but it was stupidly awesome to tackle enemy players. :)
@apomk2 not from what I've seen...at least not on my server. Every mmo is going to have idiots, it doesn't matter. And most of those idiots are adults in my experience.

It figures, I have to crawl the web over to find someone actually seeing and talking about the same things in game that I am and of course it has to be with the (as I also am guilty of) widely ignored Bounty Hunter class. You've at least shown me what they can do, so I will be a bit more attentive with my Jedi Sage in the future.
Although I must say I find it funny that you "fear" the Jedi Knight Sentinel, I deleted my level 32, they had too little to offer in PvP (0 stuns, 0 knockback, 0 root)

Have to admit with my limited experience of PvP so far seems like Bounty Hunters get ignored too much, pretty much most games they're up at the top of the Damage meters. Dunno whether this is them being OP or the "Oh, you don't have a lightsaber, you're no threat" factor

@DashburntBottom Well I was playing with a Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.33ghz, 3GB ram and ATI radeon HD 2600 XT 512mb which is equivalent to the 8600 GT. I could play the game on low settings at around 30fps. The 9400 GT is also equivalent to the 8600 GT so considering that I'd say you'd be looking at low settings around 35-40FPS as your CPU and GPU are slightly better. Also take into consideration this game isn't optimized very well. Upgrading to the 220GT would help quite a bit.

TB's point about SW>WoW is invalid. PvP in SW just doesn't look dynamic enough for me. People just stand there shooting and being shot without even moving. Not to mention lack of animation quality... And I can't quite see how generic lightsaber without proper glow and looking like Lady Gaga's disco stick could be in any way cooler than a badass 2H axe :P

Anyone saying story is not a part of gameplay needs to burn, btw. They can do a single "define: gameplay" on google if they want to know why I can say that. Your personal taste may not be that of enjoying story, but it is a part of the gameplay formula for an MMO and many games overall. It is generally the variation and choices an RPG gives that make the story replayable, you get this in TOR, not in WoW for instance. That is what gives the story element re-playability.

I really loved the Sith Marauder in PVP during the beta, seriously, that class gave one of the best melee combat experience I ever had in an MMO, maybe it doesn't had lots of damage, but it was stupidly awesome to tackle enemy players. :)
