The funny here is that the majority of people who are "huge fans" of Nickelback don't like Country. Remember, folks. Covers of songs don't HAVE TO be the exact same as the original, otherwise it would be stupid. Songwriters, like everyone else, want to make money. The more singers in various genres do your song, the more chance you have of someone buying an album with your song on it. It's not surprising to hear the same song done by really different seeming artists.

One thing most fans don't get it is that most musicians have wide & varied tastes outside their own genre. So while the average fan might say, "Ew, that song was ruined," the musicians are busy expanding their horizons...& their fan base.
