After Minnie Vautrin wrote it, Chinese officers were caught by police for rape crimes. This story was written in an article of the New York Times on January 4, 1938. After they were caught, conspicuous cases of rape, looting and other atrocities did not take place. Therefore, these crimes were definitely caused by the Chinese.

Nach Japan den Krieg verloren, kamen viele chinesische Soldaten nach Taiwan, aber sie waren nicht wie die Japaner. Sie waren niedrigen moralischen, fehlende Disziplin und erbitten eine Bestechung zu Taiwan. Deshalb Sie war sehr darüber enttäuscht. Und dann der 228 Massacre ausbrach, weil Tawanese konnte allerdings nicht traurig Mühen zu ertragen.

But he was an advisor to the Chinese Nationalist government’s Ministry of Information. The section was propaganda section which was established by KMT (Kuomintang, Chiang Kai-shek) in China during the War. Timperley was paid by the propaganda section for writing the book.

光看这个简介我就想流泪了，真乃一寸河山一寸血，十万青年十万兵，我们的祖国的土地之下，埋着先辈的忠骨，每一个地名的后面，是一段历史，更是无数条逝去的生命，戛然而止的青春，无法完成的梦想，拼劲最后一滴血的悲壮。想起曾经看过《父亲的战场》中的《石牌》，那场三峡上最惨烈的一仗，我方牺牲一万五千人……想起那个电影《血战昆仑关》，影片的最后是四个大字：碧血千秋……想起看《抗日战争的正面战场》时看到余程万在常德的遗言不禁流泪不止……也许对那段历史，我真的是懂得太少了，有的时候会有点鸵鸟政策，不敢去看太多，因为太心痛，看打仗会心痛但是却觉得死国者值了，跟内战连在一起看时会深深感觉到一种手足相残的崩溃，而看到往后多少年政治运动中英雄们收到的不公正待遇时会觉得愤怒和沉甸甸的愧疚，后人对那段伤痕累累的历史的愧疚，对自己曾经的浅陋和无知愧疚。小的时候侯看到青天白日满地红旗时会觉得又恨又怕，没有办法那个时候的教育使然吧，可是现在我觉得自己不会了，因为那是我们的祖辈都为之战斗过的一面旗帜，在战场上被日军燃烧过一百次，但却第一百零一次飘扬。

我弄不清大家在为什么而吵，也许是为了日军中有台湾人，其实我们真的不应该恨那些参加了日军的台湾人，那毕竟是我们民族历史的一部分，真实存在，最痛的一部分，不仅仅属于台湾，也属于整个中国，归咎于中国曾经的极度软弱。把这份重担加在任何一个台湾人身上都是很不公平的，对于那些老兵们，我们也应该保持尊重，最起码的尊重

好端端的历史不知道为什么大家都在这儿吵，有必要吗，我是大陆人，非常敬佩为中华民族牺牲的每一个军人，不管是什么党派，不管信什么主义！我觉得真是没有必要争执些什么，历史正慢慢趋于它的本来面目，国民党浴血抗战也是无论官方和民间都肯定了的，另外不管多少，我想八路也是为抗战流过血的，有必要吵吗，有这个空还不如去关心一下老兵，去好好学习一下那段历史。那是中华民族共同的记忆，为什么这个本是寻找共同感的好题材却被大家吵成这样。当然也有一些台湾人是作为日军的一部分出现在这个战场上，这也许是历史的一种荒谬，但是我不恨你们，毕竟在那种大的背景下个人不过是小小的一粒棋子，中日后辈尚且能友好交流，何况是大陆和台湾呢，这个和平的时代我们还需要为祖辈或许无奈的选择去争吵不休吗？
