  • Amazing guitar! What kind of scales are you using, I kinda lame and am stuck using the harmonic minor alot, which I love but it very predictable/flamenco-ish. Or is it more the timing and feel that you go by. Either way truly amazing and inspirational playing!!! I love it!

  • Excelente Mathias me encanto, eres un maestro de la guitarra!!

  • Gracias!

  • Are you steve vai?

  • Ha ha!

My name is Matthias Waßer from Germany.

  • @brennwatte I want you to know that I never tire of hearing this song

  • You indeed do play like Django Rheinhardt (1914-53). With some bent blues notes later in the piece.

Reinhardt, a Belgian Gipsy active mainly in France in the 1930s and 40s, more or less invented gipsy jazz ("jazz manouche" in French) and was the first human to have an inkling of what the electric guitar can do.

  • Sick guitar:]

  • How many frets does your guitar have?

  • 31

  • @brennwatte was this customized? it looks great!

  • Is this all Improvised?

  • Yes.

  • @TrueDragonForceFan10 Look up Django Reinherdt and yes and no its hard to explain just look up jazz definition..

  • I like how you are taking risks.

Sometimes you get it flying high, other times not.

Exciting! You are aiming for something bigger and you are approaching it.

    thanks for sharing!

  • @garbidz Wait I dont get it what risks is he taking, its music is he gana die or something, you do know what gypsy jazz is right? look up django reindhert..

  • @JD083008

    Django who?

Pls. check up the spelling of his family name....Are you typing with your elbow or something?

Taking risks in an improvisation means that you start going on and cannot figure you way out of the passage in an elegant way. Playing on the edge, giving it your 110%.

  • @garbidz Omg you dont know what gypsy jazz is...... Its DJANGO ... And dood its jazz! way out of what passage, I have degrees in this area of science its not improve because its been done before he already know what keys and modes he can use its not difficult.. Nascar driving is a risk... Its very easy to manipulate the sound nothing is a bad note just flow. When I think Of playing on the edge I think of creating spontaneous music thats different this genre of playing is 80 years old..

  • @JD083008 soooo..... you're saying he's not improvising because he already knows what key the song is in? playing the guitar like this man does is not in any way comparable to nascar....

  • @worldindusa Im just being dumb but yea its cool improving is risking in a sense but theres really no bad notes, but yea basically its weird like you work with intervals and you can decide upon a note in which you play and kinda "climb" out and in the base note. Its kinda like thinking ahead of ahead know what I mean. Yea its not haha its just funny cause you sounded epic haha

  • @worldindusa its like aware improving like you know what You can use and if you know what you can do thats not improve but what makes it improve is how he does it and all the uses in which he can orders, forms, shapes, flavors of sound get me. But he did a good job real nice texture he could work on the django style peace gypsy jazz is a sub genre and has a certain essence.

  • @JD083008 do you even play an instrument? come on man, you have to have some musical knowledge of what you're playing to improvise.... you can't just play random notes and call it a song

  • @worldindusa Yes all of them, I have a phD in music and I teach at CSN. I have students that might not no sqwat about threory or anything and they play better then the students I have that sound Like you sorry. and you dont know what your talking about bye

  • @JD083008 I highly doubt that you are in fact a teacher, but as they say, "those who can't do, teach." this is epitomized by people like you (if you are in fact a teacher). Let's see a video of you "playing" the guitar like this guy. I almost forgot: for the record, CSN is a shit school.

  • @JD083008

"It is very easy to manipulate the sound nothing is a bad note"...

    Yeah, right.

Your degrees of 'this science' are really shining here. You are from Kazakhstan, right?

  • @garbidz Well its not right calling any notes bad some people like dissonance some consonance sounds. when you learn about dynamics and structures and intervals you listen to it differently. No las Vegas, Nevada

  • @JD083008

you do better Borat than Borat himself

    Kazakhstan....

  • i'ts the camera or you have really huge hands?? great playing btw :)

  • Yes the hands are huge. Thanks!

  • Nice playing! eventually you will have a nice "Willie Nelson" style pick hole in that nice acoustic!

  • amazing!

  • If Vai seen it he thought "f*ck... he's better" ;D

Very nice! Sound and everything is good :)

    check out my channel :)

  • i cant stop listening.. its like living in it

  • Pause at 1:01 GIANT HAND!!

  • that's not manouche

  • tabs? ;]]

  • you should move your hand away from the guitar and let it loose in front of the strings in order to give each note more weight. You're playing it as if it was an electric guitar.........

  • great playing! I'm thinking about getting one, is it true that these are generally much easier to play due to lower action for instance than regular acoustic guitars?

  • Thanks a lot. Yes, they are easier to play because of the slim neck. The action is normal.

  • this reminds me on mafia.. great fucking game!

  • @darac009 ...you certainly don't understand music at all. That's his own unique flamenco-like style, and it is well-played. At least he's inventing a style of his own, instead of just playing the usual pentatonic licks to sound "traditional", in other words just copying what you heard before.

  • @darac009 dude, shut up, this is great. and exept for 2:35 he doesnt play the same note 30 times in a row. if this is a composition its great and if its improvisation is grrrreat.

  • TWO QUESTION

ONE- What set of string you use

TWO- Why your EP9 avec a extended fingerboard.. BECAUSE I LUV IT

    Thx a LOT

  • Pyramid strings 011-050 Bronze.

Because I love it too. A guitarcrafter made it for me.

  • I like it! Reminds me a lot of Django Reinhardt.

  • Is it just my sensation... Or your hand are huge!!!??? :D

  • Powerful playing. What kind of pick r u using? But it ain't got the swing ... yet

  • Powerful playing. What kind of pick r u using?

  • Thanks, it´s a 3mm ebony plek.

  • That's doubly impressive plaid on that skinny-neck piece o' shit Ibanez.

  • @Hoopermazing played rather...

  • correct me if im wrong but isnt the steve vai ep9's neck shorter through the middle other than that nice playing

  • I don´t think so, at the 14th fret. It seems to be a shorter because of the fretboard extension.

  • @brennwatte no i meant by the hole (forgot what its called) right by where u strum was the neck extended?

  • It's no Selmer.

    In my opinion, anyway.

  • most enjoyable!

  • Thank you!

  • cool playing man.

  • smashing

  • This was excellent. Is there a place to go to to learn the base of this song. The licks just look so fun to play!! 5 star playing my friend.

  • wow lovely stuff could u do tabs how much was that guitar =)

  • yeaa

  • my favorite kind of guitar playing!

  • Brilliant...

  • is it just me or does this man have FREAKISHLY LARGE HANDS!!!!!!!!!! :O

awesome playing skills of course, serious player! but HUGE HANDS!!!!

  • @bossisdead

yea, thought the same thing. Never seen so big hands in my life before. They'd probably be even better for piano playing. That's some Rachmaninov sized hands for sure.

  • Very good, I love this style but I never got around to learning some of it myself. I really should, though.

And awesome guitar. I love the treble sound it has.

  • awesome

  • delightfull!!!! Bravo!!!! exelent playing.i play gipsy jazz (with the selmer style gutars...) and this was a really nice surprise. i will say one more time that your playing was great and free..... but if you played that on a selmer style acoustic it would sound a lot more rich! anyway this was a great vid! thanks for sharing!!!

  • BRAVO!

  • Dont you think this guitar sounds like a Selmer better than the acutall ones you own?

  • hey man, love the opening riff any chance of the chords or a basic tab??

  • Nice work!

  • thats a sick guitar , how much was it

  • @jake9308 it`s a steve vai signature, 1100 euros

  • no disrespect to you but this is complete shite,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • u had me clapping to the beat lol awesome bro im still in the middle of learning this style playing

  • Das ist geil! Und sehr beeindruckend. Keep on playin'!

  • All I gotta say is BADASS!!!!!

  • Did you extend the fret board?

  • It was not me, but a guitar crafter.

  • ahhhh of course of course. Still, way sweet.

  • Outstanding!!!! Many licks that I had never seen before in Gypsy Jazz. Great improvisations!!!

  • Thanks a lot!

  • liked the vid a lot. cool playing

  • Hey, thank you!

  • It's a one man show of awesomeness! Nice job man. This gives other big handed guitar players like myself hope.
