Otherwise, it would be death certain. But accordingly Q prediction of humans timeline, the Federation naturally expands itself into the Gama quadrant, and sets free many races enslaved by the dominion, untill themselves become Federation members.

It´s ironical that the formal enemies, once defeated by the Federation join them later. It will happen to Kardassia, as well as the Changellings and other Dominion enslaved races. Federation, like the Borg, agregates by different modus operandi, diplomacy and volunteership versus violence

unimatrix 1 was not destroyed, yes there where explosions in "Endgame", but not one that blew up the entire complex.

The Dominion actually came closer to defeating the Federation. Only an alliance of alpha quadrant powers was able to defeat them.
