Ok, have you ever actually read the Bible, and put it into context. Because your arguments are NOT biblical. Is Driscoll perfect? No, he argues that himself. Look at the book of Romans, in CONTEXT and the book of John, again in Context, particularly chapter 3.
I just want to point out that when Pastor Mark says, “…trust in Him…receive…His forgiveness,” it absolutely IS of faith and NOT “salvation by works” as the narrator claims. If you do that in all sincerity (as Pastor Driscoll indicates), trusting in the work Jesus accomplished by living a sinless life, dying on the cross in our place and rising from the dead as confirmation that the price He paid was accepted by God the Father, the Bible says you absolutely will be saved!
Dude your a complete moron. You know Nothing about the Bible that's ever clear. I hope God gets a hold of you fast and corrects you fast cause you need help.
@AndrewcBain Are you a professing Christian? It is 'required' that a sinner turn from his sin and repent to accept the gift of Salvation. It is 'required' that a sinner ask for forgiveness for his wretched, sinful life. It is 'required' that a sinner put his trust and faith in Christ Jesus. But this has nothing to do with works salvation. If I had your opinion of Salvation, I would hope a true Christian would advise me to examine my Faith.
why dont you stop bashing on other peoples vision, and go out and expand your own. Dont worry about the splinter in another man's eye when you have a plank in your own
I DO NOT Like Mark Driscoll, and I have Heard Horrible Things On The Internet About Joel Osteen. I am GLAD That Joel Osteen bashes The HERETICS At The Calvary Chapel CULT! Mark Drisoll Speaks HORRIBLE Things About women, and Joel Osteen Is so Flaming gay with His Shit eating grin,it isn't funny any more. But Yet, I STILL can't see How joel Osteen Is a false preacher. If He is, then WHY Does he pastor The LARGEST Church in America Today Which KEEPS GROWING????
Faith by works is the only way to achieve salvation. My question is: WHERE IS YOUR FAITH? The works are prayer, reading, and teaching/testifying. This commentary on Driscoll and any other pastor who teaches that Christ is the answer, is the reason why people turn from God. Creating doubt in the minds of those who are on the fence of faith, is the reason why the world is in the state it is in spiritually. You are really confabulating a theory due to your dislike of Driscoll the teacher.
Men like john macarthur, john piper, driscoll etc are unsaved modernists who don't know the bible! they claim to believe in salvation by faith alone through grace but then require turning from sin as a requirement. This will make salvation by works in reality.
there is work for us to do,and that is to believe that we cannot do anything to gain salvation and it's only Christ.the work we have to do is to believe,to turn away from sin which separated us from us,that we should embrace this salvation from Jesus Christ.it's a gift,a gift should be received or rejected.and that's the work we should do,receive it thankfully.May God have mercy and grace to all of us including this guy.Amen.
God bless all of you down in the comments below for your accurate interpretations of scripture and driscolls teaching. Commentator seriously needs to begin reading the bible and repent for his extremely misguiding theology
repenting of your sins is not a work that earns you salvation, but it does allow you to partake of salvation. Man MUST repent of his sins to get saved, and that repentance is not a work of righteousness. And an unbeliever who prays to Jesus is not an unbeliever any more, you have to have faith to pray to Jesus. When the Holy Spirit moves in a person to convict him of his sin and want to get saved, repentance is a natural response.
You are honestly the stupidest man I have ever heard. Get a life, and stop wasting your time trying to deceive people. I found absolutely nothing wrong with what the pastor said, and who cares if he did? Obviously you. Maybe you should get a life, and realize that no one's perfect. This video is stupid, and it wasted 10 minutes of my life. Good bye.
It is not for me to pass judgement on someone's analysis but this is so inaccurate, it sounds like the Devil speaking through the commentator. Please remember, the Devil knows what is written in the bible very well and he is the ultimate Deceiver!
You're missing the point. Driscoll is telling people to repent from there sin and commit their lives to Christ. That's not a work but an act of faith. Mark 1:15, "Repent and believe in the gospel." Of course, if that person repents and believes then that is evidence of God's work in their heart. God is sovereign over salvation but that doesn't negate our responsibility to obey His word and live for Him.
im not a fan of mark driscoll, and im not defending eerything that he is saying, but this analysis is rubbish and words are being put in this guys mouth
you quote, "without faith it is impossible to please God" however you negate the fact that faith literally translated from the greek (pisteuo) literally means trust, or to entrust oneself, or to place oneself in another's hands. Furthermore, Driscoll is quite clear in other sermons that grace is what accomplishes all of this. You have taken a small snippett out of an entire ministry and said, "This is what Driscoll teaches" what is more you are bending his words out of context.
it is god that grants one to believe..then for that faith to flourish one must put forth the effort of faith...faith without works is dead...in other words...actions and deeds mean nothing if it is not motivated by faith in christ
When a sinner turns to Jesus and acknowledges himself/herself as a sinner and confesses their sins, aren't they putting their faith in Jesus. Thus they have faith.
Rom 10:14 was in context of Paul's time, and relates to the Israelites who established their own righteousness instead of submitting to God's (read all of chapter 10 please). The Israelites weren't unbelievers, far from it. However they weren't exactly "followers of God" as they claimed to be. Understand that and you'll know how invalid your argument is.
For your last 2 questions, do me a favor and read stravis76's comment, WORD for WORD please. It literally explains all I have to say.
Wow. This guy takes a few very simple statements that include extremely common phrasing among pastors and overanalyzes it to the extreme. Driscoll isn't saying at all what this guy accuses him of.
Jesus himself says in Luke 24:47 to preach repentance. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
This appears to be an argument against Palagianism, which is nowhere close to what Mark Driscoll preaches. Also, you appear to be arguing against Arminianism, which you clearly don't understand. Perhaps you should listen to more than one sermon before you make judgments about what he believes and what he teaches. You're way off base here.
I don't know Driscol so I have no need to defend him. Now then, I partly want to engage in with this guy to show him how off he is but he has demonstrated that he is SOOOO off that I doubt that it's possible to reason with him. Yea he's just got some of the worst thinking I have EVER heard.
As a former member of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, I can personally attest that Mark Driscoll is a 5 point Calvinist. Why would you accuse him of being an Arminian? His sermons are doctrinally accurate.
I don't know what you're listening to, but you either have no clue what Mark is actually saying or you're intentionally putting words in his mouth that he never, never would say (malice?). I have no idea where you're getting these ideas from.
To the last questions you ask: Thief on the cross.
G'day Andrew cBain, first of all I just want to say I hope you are well and blessed!
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" !
So it their must be an effort on OUR part to complete the work of Christ in OUR lives, a general way of putting it is we can't be friends until there is an "asking" by either one of us, do you see? furthermore there is not a hint of self-righteousness by Ps. Mark in the clips you used..Peace!
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Seriously you are taking this way out of context. He simply is stating what is needed to be done at the end of his message. As humans we need to do something. We need to accept the free gift. Obviously we need to be saved by saying we need Jesus. Jesus dies for us but we need to accept it.
Mark is talking about us being unworthy sinners who need to trust in what Christ did for us (faith alone) Rom 6:23 and confessing it just like in Rom 10:9,10
Eph 2:8,9
I don't see what this guys problem is Rom 5:6,8
Today is the day of salvation!
I just don't get what he's fighting about he's pretty much saying the same thing as Mark?
The most important thing to realize and remember is John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The key word here is-that whoever BELIEVES!
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Mark Driscoll has said or implied nothing wrong and was right on point.
Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
You must admit you are a sinner, repent and call on the name of the Lord for forgiveness and help. For the non believers to believe that they have done good works in their life without acknowledging Christ as Lord and Saviour will NOT enter the kingdom of heaven it is quite clear in scriptures.
Dude, what are you talking about, you are obviously not understanding what is going on here. The Bible says that, Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." As you yield your life to Him, God will help you turn from your sins. You cannot overcome sin without His help. The Bible says, "Unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Faith is God's gift to give as He wishes. Nobody can 'make' true faith inside themselves.
Then how do you think people admit, believe, and confess? We are saved by faith. God does not speak directly to us. Last I checked sir you are not Moses, Noah, Elijah, or anyone else in the Old Testament that God spoke to. We are saved by our faith that Jesus died for our sins. Our faith in Him is shown by the fruits in our lives. I suggest you read the book of Luke in its entirety. Jesus taught us through His direct words and parables how we stay on the narrow road to righteousness and life.
um..." faith without works is dead," "Anyone who CALLS on the name of the Lord.." kinda sounds like action." and continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling," It sounds like you have justification, the completed work of the cross to grant sinners access to the Throne and salvation, the unfinished work of perfecting our character through obedience to Christ .
Driscoll says that this is the day because if the people he is speaking to actually do come to faith in Christ on that day, then YES, God did preordain that day for them to acknowledge what God has already started in them! You are really reaching to refute Driscoll. Driscoll is extremely bent on glorifying himsefl and giveing Jesus all of the praise. Nothing you have said, holds water. You have tried to twist everything that was said! When a person does come to God, means God has already acted!
What?? The gentleman with the fake-sounding accent seems at best confused, or a liar at worst. When did Mark Driscoll say "God loves sin"? I've heard his sermons and he's quite adamant against it. He sounds nothing like Joel Osteen. The fact that this character Bain has not answered any of the concerns on the responses here speaks to the fact he's disingenuous.
Mark 1: 15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Repent and believe you are pretty weak on your Theology, how else are you Saved buddy? Just be yourself and never change your mind on Sin? That we are not to believe aka HAVE FAITH in Christ? You have pretty much no understanding on the Gospel all the things you say about him spitting on Christ is redic he didnt add anything your own verses show him correct lol
And, this video prompts me to ask you, How did you become saved?
Did you pray to God? Did you repent of your sins? Or did you just walk along a road and Jesus appeared to you in person and asked you, "Why are you persecuting Me?"
There is a difference to how we are saved and Paul was; we receive revelation by the Holy Spirit and assurance by faith and a changed life, Paul received it by personal revelation, as well as faith leading to assurance and fruitful works.
According to your interpretation of Hebrews 11:6, then unbelievers have no chance of being saved, since whatever they do is not in faith and therefore cannot please God.
When, in fact, that statement is not even referring to salvation, but rather works following salvation. Brother, I really do not wish to attack you, and I do not seek to put you down, but you need to understand that you are wrong. You need to repent from your arrogance. You are a white-washed tomb, as Jesus called the Pharisees.
putting requirements between God and man? asking that unbelievers agree with God and repent? That requirement is put forth in scripture. The fact that he offers a sample prayer to give an unbeliever a picture of what this looks like is a helpful thing. An unbeliever of course has to decide if they agree with that prayer... I have no clue why you are attacking Driscoll. And no, he bears NO similarity to Osteen...
This is ridiculous. its people like you that are insecure in your own relationship with Christ that you feel threatened by him. sounds as though you need to check yourself. completely absurd.
I also hat to break this point even further BUT HE HIMSELF TELLS PROVES YOU WRONG FROM HIS OWN MOUTH!!!! Next time do research love your brother and most of all if you are on here TRYING to do something DO RESEARCH
Don't take this at moronic face value look up Mark Driscoll is Evil
Sorry bro but pointing RELIGIOUS fingers of condemnation is one of the worst thing about "Christians" today. The bottom line is that it helps people who are legit and WORKING OUT THEIR OWN SALVATION LIKE THE BIBLE SAYS are ALWAYS attacked. if they are not then they are not preaching right. And we do have to do our works. The bible said to make disciples and preach the gospel. this was not a recommendation but rather a command.
A COMMANDANT AN ORDER OR MANDATE!!!! Get off the high horse and stop preaching Grace!!! If we were saved by grace and DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WE WOULD BE NOTHING!!!! Never once did Mark say he was holier than thou. You make me sick. When you actually read and understand the bible get back on here and talk!
If anyone disliked Driscoll, but happened upon this video ... I would submit that you would be doing Driscoll a FAVOR. Since upon watching 20 seconds of it, they would realize that YOU EXISTED! Straight-away, identifying a pitiful, irritating, never-has-been envy in your vids ... "the champion of young-ignorance" and last year's president of the "11th grade and almost shaving" club.
At that moment, Driscoll's former enemy would begin to like him!!
wow. that's a really solid and biblical message. thanks for sharing it. wish you'd leave out the commentary that twists the message Driscoll presents.
the statement that it is by works because a person must pray is lotacris. His view is very skewed and is lost. He needs to properly interpret the passages rather than create a view into what he wants. that is the difference from seeking truth and postmodernism.
Boo.... "This is an example of salvation by works"? Sounds like an example of praying with faith to receive salvation. I figured it was going to be an out-of-context quote from him that was twisted, but there isn't any twisting that.
What Mark says is a clear presentation on how every human being must be saved through the grace of God, he is not saying it is by works, he is not imposing requirements, he is saying you need to believe. Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." That is what Driscoll is saying.
It's called a confession. It's called Calvinism. It's called you being far too analytical. We communicate with God through prayer. If there's one thing that Driscoll does it's point people to Jesus. Over and over again he does this. This is simply misinterpretation of sound segments. Mark makes it completely clear that we are created by God for God and His glory.
Joel Osteen does NOT preach about sin! Thats the problem! He preaches about the fact that God wants you to be rich and happy which is absolute crap. We are going to face trials and pain and struggles all through our life. Paul and Jesus both speak of how we are going to have people hate us and that it's going to be hard to live this life. We have a hope that we'll have eternal life in heaven which will be perfect. This world isn't.
what the heck is your problem? Mark is talking about a certain TYPE of prayer that basically says we are repenting from our old ways and turning to a new way of living, that is in Jesus. That prayer is for NON-BELIEVERS who want to become a Christian. They're not praying to sin at all, but they're praying that they will turn away from it. I know I'm commenting on the first part of what you said, but I wasn't about to waste my time listening to you be a jerk an amazing pastor who preaches truth
Hahahahahaha. Seriously? And when has Joel Osteen EVER called anyone to repent of their sins (which is how one enters into the love of Christ)?? Joel Osteen preaches that the goal of live is being happy and wealthy and using God as a genie. Mark Driscoll teaches that we were created by God for God; to glorify His name. BIG difference
How do you become a Christian if you don't pray? (which is really just talking to God) I think that RyanBoose is right, you are a lamb in sheep's clothing. Once a person prays to God to become a Christian, they are no longer an unbeliever! Thus the passage about everything an unbeliever does is a sin, no longer applies. The prayer is the act of faith. You need to really rethink things, pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit, and repent. I do not believe you are saved.
You sound like a universalist. And as for saying that he is boasting because he thinks that people can be saved by hearing him preach....
Romans 10:14 "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?"
I do not believe you are a christian. You sound much more like a wolf in sheep's clothing twisting the precious word of God to lift up your own name. Repent

Do you have any idea what Mark Discolls church has done in Seattle?? Sooo many people have come to Jeusus in Seattle, the most unchurched city in the country. I've lived in Seattle all my life and I live blocks from Mark's church and heard him preach since the mid 90's. I'm a graudate from SPU, a Christian university that teaches theology, etc... i.e. , I know the gospel enough to know when someone is teaching fasle doctrine..and Driscoll is a great pastor!! The guy on this video is way off
I don't know who this this bain guy is but he obviously does not know what he is talking about.. I am considering taking the time to tear this video apart but I am just to lazy. If anyone is really interested in Mark Driscoll go check the Mars Hill Church webiste and watch some full sermons. Jesus says we repent (or turn away from sins) heartfelt belief in our Lord produces rightouesness. Our faith comes from our sovereign God..
you say with out faith everything is displeasing to God but than how in the world is it possible to trust, through a story, in a man who lived on earth and died and rose again to pay for our sins with out haveing at least a musterd seed of faith??? your not to brilliant andrew and im really sad that we share the same name. and i know for sure you will have a front row seat in hell for all the horrible acusations you have against all the men of God who proclaim jesus as lord and saviour.
You are way way off with this video. Just because we stop doing dirty rotten things does not mean we deserve or earn our way into heaven. Eternal life is a gift from God yes but if you live in sin then you are not actually saved- in 1 cor 6:9, galations 5:19-21, eph 5:5-6, and revalation 21:8 - makes it perfectly clear that all those who practice unrighteousness will go to hell. It doesn;t matter if they claim to be saved or think they are saved if they practice these things they are not saved.
of course there's requirements for salvaltion. You are (lucky a very bad) false teacher. you have taken everything out of context! wow what a waste of time
If an unbeliever wants to repent and pray to accept Jesus, then they firstly need to have had God working in their hearts.
If after hearing this, a great number of people were saved and repented, then Mark is fulfilling what the Lord commanded us to do in preaching and spreading the good news of the gospel.
When after Peter had denied Christ, he went and preached and many thousands of people were saved.. are you saving that Peter was wrong then?
You really do twist his words. He is not saying that you have to do anything to be saved.. if you actually listen to his video "why i hate religion" then you will see that he does understand the concept that you say he doesnt. Mark at no point mentioned anything about how he himself saves people or anything, he is just using a picture (as Jesus often did in His earthly ministry) to better explain to unbelievers how they can be saved.
Its disturbs me that any who claim Christ would threaten and insult even their enemies in this way. Your disagreement is centuries old (Calvinist vs. Arminian). Scripture describes the lost as blind, captive, dead. How does the dead (the description most often used by scripture for the unbeliever) act in his own behalf toward God. SEE JOHN 6:44, 65. Ours is a response to GOD's choice. Wrestle with these truths and Rom. 9. Stop ungodly bickering. Speak the truth in love.
dude ur so wrong ... basically instead of us having requirments andasking the lord 2 save us ... what u r basically saying is no lord u can bow before me ..... no idea what your are talking about
How is that salvation by works?! is this a joke?! The Bible directly says that the believers will be like the bride of christ, it also talks about needing faith in order to be saved... and that not all are saved... and yes we do HAVE TO repent... or we are not saved... that isnt works, it is being aware of the fact that we cannot work towards God because we are shamefully evil.
You're hilarious, Andrewcbain. I almost thought you were being serious there for a second. Oh you were? Dang. You know Mark is a Calvinist who does not believe in works salvation, right? I listen to his sermons every week. You are sadly, sadly mistaken. He is not an Arminian.
I'll be honest, I couldn't get myself to finish your video. You are twisting his words, and really the second quote is just completely misinterpreted. The prayer is a reflection of the unbeliever's changed heart and an outward expression of their new belief, faith, and acknowledgement that Jesus did all the work as you stated. And in the second, he is just stating that God may have brought them to hear the message and be saved, he never uses arrogance to put himself into it or "predict" anything
Clearly, you need to spend more time studying your Bible and less time on youtube. My fear is that you will stand before God someday and have very little to show for the life he's given you except a few videos tearing down Gods men who really are trying to make much of Him with their lives, you need to get off your computer, go read the Word, and then go use your God-given talents and abilities for the furtherance of the gospel instead of these childish arguments over mere semantics.
It is quite obvious that discernment is NOT your gifting and legalism IS. You are so intent on placing yourself above Mark Driscoll that you misunderstood him completely. The kingdom of God does not need legalistic armchair critics pulling down ministries that are bearing much fruit. Find something useful to do. BTW, Jesus said that to be saved, there WAS a work to be performed “Jesus answered them, this is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” John 6:29
Are you really that simple? Mark Driscoll is nothing like Joel Osteen. As far as committing your life to Christ to be saved. That is not doing work. He is saying that you need to repent for your sins and turn your life to God. That's not work, that is letting go and putting your faith in Jesus. You are twisting his meaning.
The producer of these podcasts demonstrates an inadequate theology and is simply unable to understand the nuance of Mark Driscoll's preaching. He would do better to lay off Pastor Driscoll, examine his own heart, and get a proper theological education. J. Wyllie Ph.D. (Theology)
lol ur funny ! the bible says we have to confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts. If the bible places that "condition " as you put it, which in fairness it actually is, then how can you fault mark driscoll for encouraging folks to do so. also yes salvation comes by faith ,not works but the bible also says that faith without works is DEAD. As christians we sometimes treat them as polar opposites when in fact it is works that supplement faith
Are they different? You know i'm not a follower of these guys but I would say that they are totally different.Driscoll is a pastor & Joel is a phychologist with his man made ideas.Driscoll is biblical & Joel loves to twist Scriptures.Driscoll is a preacher of the Gospel of Christ while Joel is a prosperity false preacher that leads so many people off a cliff to eternal destruction. Now did I answer your question. Those are facts and true.Don't mess with me or you gonna have some serious problems.
"Behold I stand at the door and knock"..why does God knock? you have to do something i.e. let Him in!
Andrewcbain, study the Bible in its entirety. The Bible says: "faith without works is dead!" If I have faith in God and do nothing what good then is my Faith?
Jesus turned water into wine only AFTER they had filled the pots with water?
"Take up your bed and walk" Quoth Jesus.if the man did not take up his bed to thins day he would not be walking
Yea, you DO need to do something to marry Christ. You DO have to give vows. You have to accept it. Salvation by works? Hardly. These are hardly "all kinds of conditions".
did anybody else laugh at the line when he said this sounds like salvation by works. What the crap? He took straight scripture comparing Jesus as the Groom and the church as the Bride
Ummm. Is AndrewcBain an idiot? It's kinda like he didn't even listen to Mark Driscoll... I don't even hear anything out of context, I just hear rambling about a lot of bias that he has against Driscoll. I don't know why you're so pissed at Driscoll, but you should back your invalid arguments with real proof. I'm pretty sure you made a theory and then attempted to find something to back it. That would get you a 0 in a lower-level english class.
Wow, you are totally twisting what Mr. Driscoll is saying and trying to slam him. You comepletely made stuff up. May God help you for trying to lead people away from confessing their sins and accepting His Son as our Saviour!!
dear andrewcbain- you are absolutely ridiculous and i hope you don't take yourself seriously. i can't believe are stretching what Mark Driscoll says into him desiring that men sin. he's obviously talking about a sinner becoming saved by faith. come on.
Christ's work was indeed complete but our response is part of what he has accomplished. It is part of his plan and so the fact that we want to believe and do take that step of faith means God is doing the work not us, as we cannot make ourselves want to seek Him. I want to ask you how you became a believer?
Driscoll is simply a translator of the living word. He may do it imperfectly but at least he reaches people. Tons of people are getting introduced to Jesus. Faith without works is dead. In order to have a relationship with Jesus you must communicate with Jesus. That's all he is saying.
yeah...there are things not all right with Driscoll but the same can be said of us all. And as James says a teacher is going to be judged harder then anyother believer, I do agree with challenging anyone's teachings,Paul and Jesus included. through challenging you can discern truth from lies. For in the end it is up to the individual to seek, knock, and ask. This video is a sham. Faith is hoping, asking, seeking the unseen. what is a real prayer? an act of faith that there is a God that hears.
yep this dude completely misses the point. committing yourself to Christ is NOT a work. A work is good deeds (such as giving to the poor, etc) and then believing that this gets you to heaven
Tons of negative feedback on whoever did this video. I had to stop listening soon after minute 3. I was immediately skeptical after the first words that were clearly false. Faith without works is dead. I wish I didn't add my view to the tally...

@blackyn00b excellent points. Calvinists follow a man who is in hell for the murder of those who disagreed with him. John Calvin and immoral Martin Luther were the devils tools to twist the message of Christianity.
@saudertim1 Martin Luther wasn't perfect, but he loved Jesus. If you love Jesus then show him respect as a brother in Christ. If you don't love Jesus then shut your mouth.
How can a sinner be saved without praying for salvation (Romans 10:9-10)? A sinner praying for salvation is not self-righteousness but in fact the exact opposite b/c that sinner is praying to God for Jesus to be his/her righteousness. The act/event of salvation saves a person, but their salvation causes them to do good works, not to be saved, but b/c they are saved (James 2:14-26). I also noticed that all of your biblical references are only in part and pretty much out of context.Nice try but no
@SouledOutOnline You're right - praying is a selfless act b/c it innately recognizes the power God possesses which the person praying lacks. A sinner who prays to God is acknowledging God's righteousness already. I think this is a good step :)
You also claim that Driscoll is saying that God loves sin? He never says that in any of this message.
I like how you try to say that he's claiming to be physic by telling people "You are here for a reason" as if your going to discredit his message..
When in reality, he tells them God is the one who brought them there, and says so like 3 times. Driscoll never said once "I seen you coming here" or "I can read your future"
I honestly have no idea how you totally butchered what his message was.
Faith is by what seperates a unbeliever from a believer. So if someone decides in his heart he wants to have faith in Christ Jesus, then that does that not make his prayer "acceptable"?
Paul himself say's in Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"
It's not a prayer that saves us, but a confirmation from our lips and belief in our heart.
Sir. I dont understand your point. of course salvation is by grace, Gods grace. But there needs to be some interation between man and God in order for man to receive this salvation by grace. how do you accept this salvation by repentance and acepting Christ into your heart.
He is talking about the opportunity that we all have everyday for salvation. Sir r u a theologian, because I think you should look at the video again because you missed it. sorry

How in the world is this salvation by works?! He's inviting people to try to confess themselves of their sin and to dedicate themselves to Christ. Salvation through works is something more akin to the pillars of Islam or the cycles of Karma.
Didn't watch the video, but read your rant. Your first major flaw comes in your misinterpretation of Romans 10:14. You say that unbelievers who pray are sinning? On what grounds? None. What Romans 10:14 says is that if they do not yet believe in God, then how can they pray to him?
But James makes it clear that belief in God is not the same as accepting God as Lord, as "even the demons believe -- and tremble!" Many people believe in God but do not accept him as Lord. This is where you fail.
So are you trying to imply as a sinner, (which we all are) nothing is needed to be done in order to be saved? If you think it is as easy as saying "I think I want to be saved, so now I am" your miss Informed brother. God still wants you to live your life using The Bible as your how to guide, so to speak. You can not just believe in Jesus, live your life the same and expect to go to heaven.
If I wasn't a pacifist and was face-to-face with AndrewcBain, I would punch him in the face for totally misunderstanding everything and labelling it as heresy.
We cannot know or see anything without being regenerated by God. We are dead. We need to come to life through Christ.
What you are proposing could easily be viewed as Antionomianism (sp?). A real problem for your view is that Christ calls us to be holy as God is Holy. He also gave parables like the one with the diferent kinds of soils. That parable makes no sense in your view. The problem then in that parable is with the sower (god) and not really in the soil. You are confused.
"The truth comes to a man completely unexpected! Without any humility or sincerity on his part. The voice is BEHIND the man. In other words, he wasn't seeking at all! He was "not inquiring" and "not seeking"."
Interesting since many who are saved in the gospel did inquire. you take some examples and take things about of context. Christianity does not argue that man does nothing in order to be saved. What it states is that what man does comes from God's revelatory power by the Spirit.
Denominations as a fact in our world is the indicator that always at work is the human mind interpreting the Word of God.
There will always be those who say, "They are interpreting it wrong. They are interpreting it right." This will only end when Jesus comes to settle the score and reveal our immense ignorance in all matters of faith.
"Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself." If I could just do this, I may have a chance at redemption.
Better to compare Driscoll with Washer's Alaskan adventure or his critiques of the "pray a little prayer" approach to salvation. Driscoll's borders on "pray a little prayer", but, that said, the basics are there: turn from sin, salvation through Christ alone. What is missing, perhaps one might more accurately argue, is Washer's burning passion against our own sin. Or the abject inability to save ourselves.
And YET (2:50) ... I am all-but certain when the Holy Spirit convicted you, Andrew, you, too, prayed a prayer. Did someone encourage you to do so? Did they call you to repentance? Yet, who _really_ caused you to feel penitent?
So, is it not the same that Driscoll calls for repentant prayer, after the preaching of the Word? Would not the Holy Spirit convict those whom the Father has called to repentance and pass over those whom He has not? Or should Drisc...-
Or should Driscoll just preach the gospel and then demand nothing?
Calling for repentence has NAUGHT to do with works. That's ... dumb. A man's penitent prayer is a post-salvation SIGN of the Holy Spirit (or a mere hopeful act of an unregenerant heart). It is NOT a work, and neither do I hear Driscoll standing AS the doorway.
And then you're attacking Driscoll (6:45) for preaching self-justification?! What audio ARE you listening to? Not the same one as we.
this guy has NO idea what he's talking about. He just takes words and turns them around to build his non-arguments. Quit building yourself up by tearing others down. Do yourselves a favor... go read the bible instead of watching youtube videos like these. You'll get many many many times more out of the bible than this guy.
What is this? What do you gain from this? Stop tearing people down with self righteousness and focusing on stupid theological debates on Calvinism and all that crap, maybe there are more important things to focus on, like faith in Jesus, and loving God,loving your neighbor.
Andrew-You're wasting your time man. Instead of taking Pastors like Driscoll out of context and making absurd accusations such as the ones you are making, try putting your studies and attention on actualREALissues that the Church is facing. We live in a time where the church is depressingly far from God and heretics like Osteen and Hinn are manipulating people as "wolves in sheep clothing."

MariusLio 7 months ago
there is work for us to do,and that is to believe that we cannot do anything to gain salvation and it's only Christ.the work we have to do is to believe,to turn away from sin which separated us from us,that we should embrace this salvation from Jesus Christ.it's a gift,a gift should be received or rejected.and that's the work we should do,receive it thankfully.May God have mercy and grace to all of us including this guy.Amen.

katanaboyz94 7 months ago
repenting of your sins is not a work that earns you salvation, but it does allow you to partake of salvation.

You're missing the point. Driscoll is telling people to repent from there sin and commit their lives to Christ. That's not a work but an act of faith. Mark 1:15, "Repent and believe in the gospel." Of course, if that person repents and believes then that is evidence of God's work in their heart. God is sovereign over salvation but that doesn't negate our responsibility to obey His word and live for Him.

you quote, "without faith it is impossible to please God" however you negate the fact that faith literally translated from the greek (pisteuo) literally means trust, or to entrust oneself, or to place oneself in another's hands.

Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
You must admit you are a sinner, repent and call on the name of the Lord for forgiveness and help. For the non believers to believe that they have done good works in their life without acknowledging Christ as Lord and Saviour will NOT enter the kingdom of heaven it is quite clear in scriptures.
stravis76 11 months ago
Dude, what are you talking about, you are obviously not understanding what is going on here. The Bible says that, Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." As you yield your life to Him, God will help you turn from your sins. You cannot overcome sin without His help. The Bible says, "Unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
stravis76 11 months ago 11

Jesus taught us through His direct words and parables how we stay on the narrow road to righteousness and life.
snappinnecks7 11 months ago
um..." faith without works is dead," "Anyone who CALLS on the name of the Lord.." kinda sounds like action." and continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling," It sounds like you have justification, the completed work of the cross to grant sinners access to the Throne and salvation, the unfinished work of perfecting our character through obedience to Christ .

There is a difference to how we are saved and Paul was; we receive revelation by the Holy Spirit and assurance by faith and a changed life, Paul received it by personal revelation, as well as faith leading to assurance and fruitful works.
daileydevotion 11 months ago
According to your interpretation of Hebrews 11:6, then unbelievers have no chance of being saved, since whatever they do is not in faith and therefore cannot please God.
When, in fact, that statement is not even referring to salvation, but rather works following salvation. Brother, I really do not wish to attack you, and I do not seek to put you down, but you need to understand that you are wrong. You need to repent from your arrogance. You are a white-washed tomb, as Jesus called the Pharisees.
daileydevotion 11 months ago

I'm actually confused after watching several of your videos, like extremely confused.
You don't think that on that Damascus road Paul the Apostle turned from his sin?
You don't think that on his revelation of Jesus he went and prayed to Him?
What do you even believe? You are coming up with a ton of arguments out of what seems to be boredom or just misinterpretation.
Unbelievers don't just magically become Christians while they are sleeping! They do have to believe and trust in Christ!
daileydevotion 11 months ago
putting requirements between God and man? asking that unbelievers agree with God and repent? That requirement is put forth in scripture. The fact that he offers a sample prayer to give an unbeliever a picture of what this looks like is a helpful thing. An unbeliever of course has to decide if they agree with that prayer... I have no clue why you are attacking Driscoll. And no, he bears NO similarity to Osteen...

Canadianbeaversrock 1 year ago

If an unbeliever wants to repent and pray to accept Jesus, then they firstly need to have had God working in their hearts.
If after hearing this, a great number of people were saved and repented, then Mark is fulfilling what the Lord commanded us to do in preaching and spreading the good news of the gospel.
When after Peter had denied Christ, he went and preached and many thousands of people were saved.. are you saving that Peter was wrong then?
lshigham18 1 year ago
You really do twist his words. He is not saying that you have to do anything to be saved.. if you actually listen to his video "why i hate religion" then you will see that he does understand the concept that you say he doesnt. Mark at no point mentioned anything about how he himself saves people or anything, he is just using a picture (as Jesus often did in His earthly ministry) to better explain to unbelievers how they can be saved.
lshigham18 1 year ago
Its disturbs me that any who claim Christ would threaten and insult even their enemies in this way. Your disagreement is centuries old (Calvinist vs. Arminian). Scripture describes the lost as blind, captive, dead. How does the dead (the description most often used by scripture for the unbeliever) act in his own behalf toward God. SEE JOHN 6:44, 65. Ours is a response to GOD's choice. Wrestle with these truths and Rom. 9. Stop ungodly bickering. Speak the truth in love.

HoParoikos 1 year ago
I'll be honest, I couldn't get myself to finish your video. You are twisting his words, and really the second quote is just completely misinterpreted. The prayer is a reflection of the unbeliever's changed heart and an outward expression of their new belief, faith, and acknowledgement that Jesus did all the work as you stated. And in the second, he is just stating that God may have brought them to hear the message and be saved, he never uses arrogance to put himself into it or "predict" anything
padiddlefilmz 1 year ago

333WJA 1 year ago

I don't even hear anything out of context, I just hear rambling about a lot of bias that he has against Driscoll.

I also noticed that all of your biblical references are only in part and pretty much out of context.Nice try but no
SouledOutOnline 1 year ago 2
@SouledOutOnline You're right - praying is a selfless act b/c it innately recognizes the power God possesses which the person praying lacks. A sinner who prays to God is acknowledging God's righteousness already. I think this is a good step :)
TheJohnVandivier 1 year ago
You also claim that Driscoll is saying that God loves sin? He never says that in any of this message.
I like how you try to say that he's claiming to be physic by telling people "You are here for a reason" as if your going to discredit his message..
When in reality, he tells them God is the one who brought them there, and says so like 3 times. Driscoll never said once "I seen you coming here" or "I can read your future"
I honestly have no idea how you totally butchered what his message was.
FreethruJesus 1 year ago
Wow, your really reaching here Andrew.

How in the world is this salvation by works?! He's inviting people to try to confess themselves of their sin and to dedicate themselves to Christ. Salvation through works is something more akin to the pillars of Islam or the cycles of Karma.
Cobraknees 1 year ago
Didn't watch the video, but read your rant. Your first major flaw comes in your misinterpretation of Romans 10:14. You say that unbelievers who pray are sinning? On what grounds? None. What Romans 10:14 says is that if they do not yet believe in God, then how can they pray to him?
But James makes it clear that belief in God is not the same as accepting God as Lord, as "even the demons believe -- and tremble!" Many people believe in God but do not accept him as Lord. This is where you fail.
cda1117 1 year ago
So are you trying to imply as a sinner, (which we all are) nothing is needed to be done in order to be saved? If you think it is as easy as saying "I think I want to be saved, so now I am" your miss Informed brother. God still wants you to live your life using The Bible as your how to guide, so to speak. You can not just believe in Jesus, live your life the same and expect to go to heaven.

MrBlackhaw 1 year ago

Denominations as a fact in our world is the indicator that always at work is the human mind interpreting the Word of God.
There will always be those who say, "They are interpreting it wrong. They are interpreting it right." This will only end when Jesus comes to settle the score and reveal our immense ignorance in all matters of faith.
"Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself." If I could just do this, I may have a chance at redemption.

@2:21, I thought:
Salvation by works, Andrew? Really?
Better to compare Driscoll with Washer's Alaskan adventure or his critiques of the "pray a little prayer" approach to salvation. Driscoll's borders on "pray a little prayer", but, that said, the basics are there: turn from sin, salvation through Christ alone. What is missing, perhaps one might more accurately argue, is Washer's burning passion against our own sin. Or the abject inability to save ourselves.

@Aragond68 (Part 2)
Or should Drisc...-
Aragond68 1 year ago
@Aragond68 (Part 3)
