If you are small you have to be very good in other area's to compensate and Finlay simply isn't. True enough that there are a fair few underwhelming champions these days but there is a long list of guys who never got to be champ, the likes of Curt Hennig, Piper, Million Dollar Man, Scott Hall, Jake Roberts etc I could probably name a hundred guys who deserved it before Finlay.

@Freddyphelp He shouldn't have been champ, but by no stretch was he mediocre in the ring. At nearly 50 years old he was having the best matches in WWE at the time. His fueds with Benoit and Kane were absolutely awesome. You seriously discredit him there fool.
@Freddyphelp That has nothing to do with how good he is in the ring, that's to do with his lack of charisma. His matches with Benoit were very good, looked very legit, were built at the right pace, and gave you the impression they actually hated eachother. His matches with Kane were awesome.

It drew tons of heat from the house crowd and even though it was a great way to draw heat Vince had to let him go to stem all the negative backlash at the company. Someone had to be the scapegoat.
I miss Finlay in the WWE, I'm from Dublin, was always good to see him when wwe came to Ireland. He need to be brought back as a road agent or something, pure legend!
