This theme is just glorious! I grew up watching the BBC Narnia films, and part of what I loved what hearing this majestic music, really gets right to your heart.
oh goodness! so many memories! i used to watch the silver chair over and over agian as it was my favorite! one of the best parts of the older version is that they stuck close to the books which makes them better in my opinion! i didnt like the changes in the newer ones...
I was a five year old when I watched this no wait I was 3 year old i rember me as aslan when I was five though in halloweeen I would be him go lion of juda aslan the lion of juda. yay
I don't really like the old movies, because when I was little the wolves gave me nightmares, but I LOVE the music! I liked how you used some pictures from both the old and the newer Narnia movies.
@ChoccaCaramella i have to disagree with you! the new ones are good but disney added most of there own scenes and dialog which is not accurate to book, where as this one copys the book word for word, scene by scene, i like films that are accurate. for example, in the new one when edmund goes missing and goes to the witches house, the others follow him to the ice castle to try and save him and nearly get caught, that does not happen in the book, and they would have been caught anyway
the white witch use to really freak me out in this one! i mean tilda swinton had a temper but babara kellerman is definatly the queen of mean and in my oppinion the best white witch! and the expression on her face is just... pure evil, she played the part so well :O i have the boxset of all the original chronicles of narnia, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, prince caspian, the voyage of the dawn teader and the silver chair :D
lucy was fat in this one and susan was blonde, in the book lucy is skinny and susans hair is brown, peter and edmund were the only ones that were accurate to the books decription
OMG I REMEMBER THIS ! when it came out i was obsessed with it. i use to hide in the wardrobe and when my mum came looking for me and she found me she'd say "what are you doing in the wardrobe?" and i'd say "i went to narnia to have tea with mr tumnus" LOL good times :D
@AzzarClarKyy95 I did too!!! esp. at my grandmother's house in 5th grade and most of all during winter, back in 1996 when there was that big blizzard in January. XD
This was my entrance music for my Wedding and was played at the Christenings of both our sons, and my husband often sings it to them at bedtime as well! It's our family anthem.
Wow, this moved me to tears. It's such an emotive piece, and I've always loved it, plus now there's the nostalgia of how it takes you back to your childhood, watching it without caring how good the special effects were. The new version may have had the advantages of computer animation and a big budget, but this will always be the true Narnia movie to me.
man, those children of teh old series sp ugly in wanna cry about it. And aslan, well they coudnlt screw our beloved lion more up. Damn you, bad movie makers!!!
@ivkoacount No, I think it's just you who wants to cry about it. I can't imagine being so shallow and petty. The book didn't say they were supposed to be models. And a person's actions matter far more than their looks. Someday you'll be old and wrinkled, and there will be nothing left if you continue to be so shallow. Also, this was the 80's, before computer animation, and they had a limited budget, so cut them a little slack with Aslan!
I tried watching Prince Caspian (the new one) and it was so long and boring. It was heavily concentrated on special effects and long battle/escape scenes, so it was really difficult to grasp the actual plot.
The old so-called "crappy" is definitely the best version despite what people may say.
I love the soundtrack for the old version. I wish I could buy the soundtrack on amazon or somehwere, but i don't think they ever made it into a CD, I don't think there were enough songs to make a full CD... There is the main theme, the song Tumus plays, that one played in silver chair in the underworld... I can't think of any others. Not much of CD you can make out of that. Oh well, I'd buy it anyways
Man,with your reply you just made me feel sad again, because of two reasons:
1st) I listened to the song again and
2nd)It says I've posted my comment 4months ago, that means in July, damn I hope it was summer again...Time flies faster than thought...And we keep on thinking about the past and how our childish years gone by...

Jadis in this was way better than Tilda Swinton. She just whispered while this one properly let loose. Nasty!

The music is absolutely beautiful - but I don't think that the film was well-made. The new one's are a bit better.
