Yes and no. Yes, in the sense that there is no higher purpose behind it but rather my to-be-father and to-be-mother decided to go to the same bar on the same day a little over twenty-two years ago, that bar being visited by other people too and my father-and-mother-to-be were in the habit of visiting bars, as single people tend to do with their friends.

No in the sense that an arguement can be made that the Universe is deterministic.

I've heard of so many stories over the years of holy objects stopping the killing shot. The Bible, the Koran, the Torah, holy jewelry....some the size of a quarter, enough to stop the bullet from entering the person.

God watches over all faithful ones.

That makes NO sense, how would this 'god' watch over people of different faiths? Then he'd be the baha'i god and would seriously frown upon all the people using his name to advance their own goals over other people following him/her/it by another name.

There's also no statistical support that religious people are any luckier than nonreligious people. Objects stop bullets not because of some miraculous divine intervention but simply the laws of physics, which are same for all.

My beliefs say that there's one being out there that takes on all the faces of all gods. Essentially a small part of Baha'i, yes. And hey, frowns happen...free will and all.

And I'd say it's a bit of divine intervention that a person happens to be carrying/wearing an object right there right at that time. If that man had left his house without his Koran, he'd probably be well and truly dead right now.

Nawp, we're not talking simply about a different of viewpoint (or pronunciation)

Rather, the issue is much deeper. I hold that until otherwise proven the laws of nature hold and are not broken by anything once formed.

You on the other hand believe that a divine undetectable intelligent creature, that extends its interest over human affairs (other animals, aliens?) and actively breaks the laws of nature to influence the course of events in the Universe (or neurons in a persons brain)

It doesn't break the laws of nature for someone to suddenly think "maybe I should take my Koran with me today" for no good reason. You and I just think that sudden thought comes from different sources. You, from within; me, from without. And since neither of us can say what causes another person to think specific things, that's a moot point.

Actually, had the curan stoped the bullet by divine intervention it had stop BEFORE making a scratch in the book, not after breaking almost all pages.

Anyway, I'm glad that a book stoped a bullet and saved a life. Too many lives are lost in those revolutions.
