  • You guys are a disgrace to movie critics. Movies are about entertainment FIRST, and with every film you review I see you use, not the entertainment/concept factor, but your own strange/egotistical morals to determine whether or not it is a good movie. You are honestly the worst to movie critics I have ever seen (and I have seen some BAD movie critics). Trying to talk people out of seeing what is a good movie experience by magnifying a small moral nitpick is just despicable. Stop making reviews!

  • WHAT A SHIT REVIEW!!!

    300 was awesome!!!

  • u know, zack snyder is a really good director, he has three great films(dawn of the dead 04, this, and watchmen) under his belt and i would honestly love to see him direct a jusice league movie, as long as it would be written and produced by bryan singer(x men, superman returns) and chris nolan(u'd have to be an idiot to not know wut he's made)

  • you suck balls all of you this movie is one of the top movies in all time.

  • seriously..? it was a fun popcorn flick but nothing more

  • agree it was a popcorn flick and one of the best action pack movie

  • agreed.

  • Yeah ... this review really stinks. 300 was complete amazing.

  • Fuck them... this movie pwns hard!

  • It's funny how people were expecting 300 to have some revolutionary story. It's not meant to be historically accurate, nor is it meant to be shakespeare like story telling. It's a violent dude movie, that's all it is.

  • Yeah!!

    Totally agree

  • it was stupid movie.mybe some stupid poeple belive in this stupid movie. i can't understand why hallywood made this movie. but i khow something. history of persia is best and they can't destroy it with this stupid movie.

  • They made it to prove how well an adaptation could be.

  • I think they had lesbian harems

  • is he jewish?

  • 15 hot Delta Phi's just watched this. Sorry, honey, no puussy. Hot greek guys rock. Don't player hate.

  • ???????

  • You guys are on crack this movie was wicked.

  • Lol, I'm gonna say "atrocity" like that from now on. And 300 was pretty good, dumb, yes, but entertaining.

  • Hell, at this point, it doesn't matter whether people like it or not. It's integrated into culture now, just like Star Wars.

  • 300 was amazing. That's all I will say.

  • I thought it was okay

  • i thought this movie was cool but had a bit to wierdness in it with the deformed people

  • Sin City had a story???

    News to me.

  • you can't "see" the narratives? what are you talking about?

  • For starters, Narrative is not plural, narrative is the way the story of the movie is told, choice of scenes, editing, you name it, basically it's directing, and a little screenwriting.

300 is terrible in all those aspects, these guys are right, is nice to see that some young people hated 300 as much as I did.

  • fuck you

  • Spoken like a true 300 fan...I'm guessing that's all you can say, or that's the only two words you can type

  • Thought it would get the message across clear, I assumed someone as ignorant to the movie industry would understand. Cleary I put to much thought into " fuck you" maby I should have split the 2 words up between the 5 days it took you to get back on your moms computer and respond to that comment. None the less even though i dont agree with your opinion I respect that youtube is an open commenting system and allows you to post it. Maby if you respond to this we can go farther into 300 toghether.

  • I guess you don't have the guts to answer after the message I sent you.

  • I didnt see a message, one of my friends must of deleated it or something send it again. Nice job sounding tough though lol GUSSE U DIDNT HAVE THE GUTS TO ANSWER MY MESSAGE. That is one to remeber friend thanks

  • OK, I didn't save the message, and since there is a 500 limit, I'll only be able to give you the gist. I don't answer back right away cause I have a life, answering back to 300's fan boys trying to support that gay man's fantasy of sweaty men isn't exactly my priority. I'm a film student, with assignments, so time I don't have. You haven't said anything that proves 300 is good, all you have done is engaged in insults, and pretty lame ones. 300 is a bull"·$% movie, and will be forgotten.

  • I think 300 was amazing, visualy theres no question it looked great. Alot of people bitch about it's not histoicaly accurate and miller had said thats because the story is told exagerated like all storys are told. Now look im real proud that you got into devry as a film student but honestly your going to be forgotten alot sooner then 300 is. Oh and for future conversations is Bullshit not bull"·$% were big boys now....

  • I though you could not type Bullshit on youtube, like in imdb were you have to disguise your curse words.

I though even the visual style of 300 was boring, cause the over use of green or blue screen gave the feeling that nothing was real, at times, you feel that not even the actors are real.

I'm still a student, so, well, I haven't done much work, but trust me, when I do, it will be better than the dregs of 300.

  • Well, I do respect your opinion you being a film student and all, and i get what ur saying about the bullshit. In the end niether of us is going to convince the other so i say to each their own. Was 300 an epic classic with great diolog ....no but i had a hell of a good time in the theater watching it, loved the graphics and bought the dvd to watch it again. But i respect you didnt like it as much as me.

  • Finally someone who understands how crappy this movie is! I wanted action, and i got it. but in tiny, 3 or 5 minute bits (that were WAAAAAY too few and far between the pointless scenes involving women). personally, it just wasn't "epic" enough for me, and yet many still consider this one of their favorite movies? Just shows all the hype that money can buy.

  • wow i think this film was awesome, cant watch anymore of this review...

  • SceneStealers

I believe we did discuss it in terms of an action movie, saying it was a nice videogame--and that's hit. Historical inaccuracies aside, it is still an ineffective action pic cuz you don't care about anything that happens to anybody. That's pretty major flaw for any action movie.

    _____

Yet there still regarded as classics, John Woo's Hardboiled is considered one of the best action movies ever made

  • I meant that in a good way meaning that clearly shows a movie doesn't need to have a very deep Storyline but to keep it Simple like Hardboiled and Crank or Shootemup, and they all have turned up to be very enjoyable movies for people who love action movies.

  • Well action isn't really about deep characters...it's about watching some cool ass scenes. But I think if you didn't feel connected to King Leonidas or cheer and get goose bumps at the ending then that is just your deal. I think everyone knew this movie wasn't about Historical accuracy...

  • If you guys were REAL film critics, you might have mentioned the 1962 film "300 Spartans" and the historical context which Miller was drawing from.

But I guess you were too busy trying to be hip and funny :)

  • Good try, but Miller was worried about as much about "historical context" as he was about dressing his realism. This is a fantasy based very very loosely on reality. We weren't "trying" to be anything other than honest.

  • ummmmm if you go on IMDB it's rated 8.0, and highly among my friends, and i really don't think people in the theathre were laughing at the movie but with the movie.

Just my thoughts since i would say the majority loved the movie don't you think?

  • Did you know that the movie was actually quite accurate historically, though ofcourse is heavily dramatized like Zack the director said it's like an opera. The spartans were well known to be Witty, and it is Historical fact that they have trained in being Witty and have said words like "then we will fighting in the shade" atleast according to historians

  • Because the movie was based off of Herodotus's Story, also in the eye's of the Spartans the Immortals were actually seen as Demons, though of course in real life there aren't any Demons. But Miller wanted to portray that by letting you see how the spartans saw.

  • wtf are you guys insane! the 300 is a great movie

  • I'm not even going to bother this time. Rock fist down? Kiss T-shirt? Irish-esque Beard?

You guys fail at life, please spear yourselves threw the sternum immediately and save the judicial system the problems when your clearly obvious mental problems ultimately turn you into psycopathic killers, honestly, I don't want to see a shitty movie about you..

  • You suck get a love your both gay get a life

  • one negative thing i noticed is that ,of all those blood they spill from their enemies not a bloodstain got to them.

  • ha ha! leather panties ,i hate you guys...

  • Well guys, I would suggest you watch the National Geographic if you really yearn for historical accuracy. Gladiator was not historically accurate even by the visuals or by the storyline. The viewer wants heroes and action, not ordinary people with their highs and lows...

  • Dudes what are you talking about this is one of the best miller movie

  • these guys are smart. I like dit...but I see what they're saying

  • hell yeah !

  • I agree with your review on 300. 300 was a big letdown, but visually pleasing. Also, I laughed at the Chip 'n Dales reference, having felt that I had witnessed one of the most homo-erotic films in ages.

  • I didn't really like the film - too much slow-motion, blood everywhere except on the floor - watch the '50s movie "300 Spartans" instead, it's vastly superior and true to the concept. But you can get a few good laughs out of 300 with your friends, so it's not all bad.

  • lol 300 was good these guys suck at life

  • You can rock fist each others assholes, gaylords.

  • the one the left is the reciver.. fucking dorks they don´t know shit! the movie is fucking awesome!

  • these 2 guys are only jealous because they dont look like those spartans and so they say the movie is shit xD

  • the thing about you guys, is that your opinons dont matter.

and there is no fact in your logic.

  • I agree with Tizual2015's comment, "Cry more"

  • So you guys are saying that "Sin City" was better than 300?.

You guys need to get down the "high SPOT" people have you, because seriously...wtf.

  • Anyone who has half a clue knows the film isn't faithful to historical accuracy, it certainly didn't set out to be so.

I'd give more credence to this review if it wasn't presented by a pair of utter wankers.

  • pathetic. 300 is a hollywoodized adaptation of a comic book and you should have reviewed it as such. suspending disbelief is required with any film. your complete disregard for the art direction and performances in this film shows not only your ignorance but your arrogance and irreverance for the film-making process as an artform. every frame is a baroque painting and the score is astounding. there are artists...and there are talentless, frustrated artists that become critics.

  • If the Spartans in the movie were wearing pink

frilled skirts and they were all dancing around

to the song It's Raining Men while going down on

eachother, and Elton John played Leonidas, This

movie would still be substantially less gay then

    you two homo's.

    Cry More.

  • And don't give me that "So, conservatives believe in throwing deformed babies off of the side of a mountain for freedom" garbage, it's libs like yourself telling people it's a "choice". It's not done off of cliffs these days, it's in a clinic. Even the healthiest get tossed today the world over.

    .

  • I'm pretty sure that Zack Snyder didn't want us to take that literally. I'm just pointing it out as hypocritical and lazy storytelling. Being liberal has nothing to do with the fact that I thought the movie was hollow.

  • Oh for fucks sake...

  • The real answer is that because bringing up the moral backstory of the movie and your subsiquent ripping of it would expose your not-so-subtle left wing bias. I guess all I'm really looking for is an admittance from ANY movie reviewer that this movie is doing so well because conservative and patriotic people is the US are so starved for their point of view to be represented in Hollywood that they're willing to take anything, even if it's packaged in a gaudy, sexed up blood fest.

  • Come on now, both of you. Please just admit you're both liberals and hate all that the movie stands for regarding moral unambiguity, duty, honor and sacrifice. Why did your review focus only on the most shallow layers of the movie? Your excuse can't be as lame as "We reviewed it as an action movie". That can't be it, you both sound reasonably intelligent.

  • I thought that reviewing it as an action movie was more generous than most "liberal critics" were to this film. I just said that the story didn't involve me. Even thought I disagree, I really appreciate your comments.

    Eric

  • Its Not Racist...Its His Comic Now Enjoy lol!

Its Just A Good Movie , A really good movie!!

Rock Fist...Comin At Ur face lol!

    300 Is Just GOOD!!

  • u r cool. fags...

  • i think these faggots should go watch and then review brokeback mountain and then rejoice about its homosexual attributes!

  • wow. "faggots" and "attributes" in the same sentence. what a full grasp of the King's English!

  • i above all, enjoyed the movie tremendously.

while i roughly get what they were trying to get at,

i thought they were just being harsh on the movie for the sake of sounding professional and all critique-ish.

    overall,

id give scenestealers 300 'rockfists' down.

    enjoy.

  • i liked how JD says it, you guys are UBER PUSSEYS

  • what are u guys talking about this movie is so badass

  • If you want to complain about anything complain about the rascist/hypocritical or (wahtever you think)themes in the comic book. And besides these "facts" could only be based on Herodotus' History, which is widley acknowledged as in esscense a propaganda piece. Seriously you cant have a go at historical inaccuracies when the source material is tenuous at best and at worst completely fabricated.

  • If you look at the film as an adaptation of a comic book which is what it is then you can't really complain about historical inaccuracies of the film itself. I don't seriously believe that anyone who goes to watch this film is looking for an accurate historical representation of the facts, just some good old action.

  • Don't listen to those people, guys, I for one completely agree with your assessment, liked the movie to a certain extent, but no real plot or storyline, except maybe that violence is the only answer. Found it a bit fishy given that it involves cutting black and brown people (from persia -- where we are presently at war) to ribbons endlessly. Not saying it was intentional, but it did strike me as odd, and are we really supposed to root for people who throw babies off cliffs?

  • Protagonists in movies are hardly ever perfect. The Spartans are often depicted in bad light in history books because of their practices. The way it was directed kind of makes you feel for them as a small people.

Why are you making this about race? That's just what happened according to Greek historical propaganda. The Persians wanted their land. Don't make it about race, it's just a movie based on a comic based on a slightly historical event.

  • Hey guys, thank you for the AMAZING review. I felt the exact same way about the movie. I wrote a review for my University newspaper (Concordia, in Montreal) and mentioned the BDSM gear and makeup...anyway thank you for saying what we all think!

  • What a couple of jerkoffs. rockfist? Is that your imitation of ebert and roeper? Now that is the worst review for a movie I have ever seen. You liked Sin City but not this? How can you care for a guy like clive owen with no personality in sin city but not for gerard butler, it makes no sense. You two get a big cockfist down.

  • Wow you two are gay. Nobody really gives a shit about your little "review project" Nice gay ass 'rock fist' rating system. I'd bet you both like to 'rock fist' each other up the ass.

  • Rock-fist?

Wow, if that isn't the gayest thing I've ever heard. And I've heard some very gay things.

'Juxtaposing a woman's voice against violent imagery' has been done to DEATH, try watching films before you talk about them.

  • Leather Panties? HAH!

    You aren't funny.

    You aren't clever.

    Stop trying.

  • Movie was awesome. Obviously its not for everyone (IE the fags who review with "Rock Fist")

  • Juxtapose a female voice against the violence? What a sad pair these two are. Their combined brain STILL doesn't equal one. Why can't people just enjoy a movie for what it is? This movie doesn't try to be anything other than what it is....JUST PLAIN FUN. This is my first and last time watching these two idiots.

  • I think that if you went into the movie expecting much of a plot then it's obvious that you were going to hate it. But if you went in knowing that the graphic novel had shit for a plot and that the movie was based on graphic novel, then you probably didn't have any hopes to be let down. This was a very fair review.

Side note: I loved the movie.

  • Fair? Give me a break. The fact that they liked Sin City (a shoddy put together effects film) shows that fair has nothing to do with this film. You don't know what "plot" means by saying 300 didn't have one. Sin City was utter crap.

  • I don't think it's that I don't know the definition of the word "plot"; I think it's that you and I just disagree. Take a moment to calm down and remember that we're just talking about opinions here.

  • We get it, you're both liberals. With no understanding of storytelling. Just because you don't like the message, doesn't make it a poorly done film. Jokers.

  • Who are you guys anyway? I get the idea that both of you are liberals. But what makes you able to critique film? Jokers.

  • What does being 'liberal' have to do with it? I think their opinions and contrived snickering is utter bollocks, and I'm a fucking Socialist.

  • SceneStealers, sorry.. THIS IS SPARRTAA~! /kick

  • Well what a bunch of dumb fuck tards... the film is no where near that bad ...arseholes

  • yeah ceejayvilla they shoudlnt get 1 million ppl to portray the persians CUZ TEHRE WRER ONLY FUCKING 50,000

  • wellit wouldnt be ironic if you knew your facts...like I said everything was geared towards the war in Sparta im sorry for insulting you (if I did) but this was a damn good movie!

  • next time you try to be like ebert and roper try to be more serious and at least try to know what your talking about and try not to be so melo-dramatic you drama queen.

  • I for one think that the movie was a little animated but it had to have been it's not like they were going to get 1 million people to portray the persian army you dumbfuck and what the hell is up with the comment " It's like madden" you silly bitch I bet thats all you do is sit at home naked in a bean bag eat cheetos and play madden while you touch yourself asshole,

  • JD and Eric I watched this movie and I thought it was great you guys don't even know what your talking about and yes the spartans did discard babies that were weak or mishaped. if you didn't know already Sparta was not a wealthy city and everything in it was geared towards the War and It's army you Jackass, to say that this was not true is simply an onxymoron you guys are queebaits and should be decapitated you fucking piece of amphibian shit,

  • I never said the Spartans didn't discard babies, I just said it's ironic that they spoke of freedom while they practiced that barbaric ritual. We attacked the movie stylistically. It's accuracy or inaccuracy are sidenotes, not the main reason we didn't recommend it. As far as being melodramtic, we have a sense of humor. From your comments, it looks like you're the one resorting to drama and cheap insults.

  • I think the whole 'freedom' thing that rang through was the freedom of not submitting to the Persians, rather than this right on Bill of Rights perspective. Freedom to lash odd looking babies down cliffs, y'know.

I'm sorry to see you guys getting rather insulting feedback here. Despite the fact that you're wrong, unfunny, rather boring types who I'd banish from my house whilst snickering through the Godfather, you don't deserve that.

  • it is simply what happened. they didn't put a sugar coating on the movie. if this was sugar-coated, no one would understand the moral, meaning, or history of what happened.

  • It's a showcase for action that would have been more fun if the movie wasn't bogged down by stolid seriousness & a philosophically hollow premise. The stubborn machismo that gets Leonidas into this purports to be about freedom, liberty, justice, and every other buzzword that will evoke unblinking loyalty on the part of a modern audience. In a culture that tosses weak babies off a cliff & physically abuses strong children to make them hardened warriors, these ideals ring particularly false.

  • Scene stealers = morons.

Exactly what else would you have liked in the story? Movies like these really can't expand that much, because it's a very simple idea. The story is about them fighting off the Persians. What else do you want?

  • please explain to me how king leonidas is a "stubborn jackass"...

  • Zach Snyder is a hack. Remember this is the asshole that took Dawn of the Dead, the best zombie movie EVER, and took a giant shit all over it. I think if you are in to movies with nothing to say except ARRRRRAGH, you'll love 300.

  • Herodotus exaggerated the numbers, Miller used those and therefore Snyder used them. But even on historian's estimates, 300 Spartans fighting alongside around 6000 Greek soliders against 200,000 Persians is still mightily impressive. Miller made his novel out of love of what the battle stood for and Snyder's film accurately represents his vision.

  • so were did you cheack you history? i cant speek about the lesbians... but armys used mutants to strik fear in the hearts of there enemys... and as for the hunch back is in the books as a hermit.. and back then homosexuality was wide spred and excepted... sorry dont mind the spelling...

  • ok...just because YOU want homosexuality to have been wide spred and excepted, it doesn't mean it was...Spartan women having a strong influence in Sparta is actually true...Spartan men on men action, is just a fantasy...o...my fault...I meant...is just YOUR fantasy, stop being homo

  • Homosexuality was a big part of Spartan life. Many warriors took on teenage boys as lovers during their training. It was just how things were in Sparta.

  • these guys are stupid as hell, I did care about the characters in this movie, and when the guy's son died, I got pissed as shit, and I felt even worse when the king died... these bitches probably went to watch the movie with their minds fixed on "this movie will suck no matter what" so that's why they hate it, cause this is one of the best movies ever made

  • No.

    We didn't.

It was made pretty clear in the review that we were disappointed. Both of us bitches were very much looking forward to the film.

  • it's pretty obvious why...you two are chuncky dudes and this movie ruins your ego, but there's no need to hate the story just because the characters make you look nasty...because....it's not their fault...you always looked nasty

  • As wrong as these SceneStealers guys are.. ugh. You're an imbecile. Please don't type.

  • Don't you agree that it's ironic that they throw weak babies off of cliffs and then purport to fight for freedom?

Also, the stuff with Leonidas and the Queen didn't seem like character development, just sex for sex's sake. By comparison, the characters in "Sin City" were far better drawn, I thought.

  • u guys are idiots no offense. you judge this movie on what it was not at all trying to do. this was about action and tits. now if u guys are homos then u might not like action and tits. historically, its not suposed to be acurate. miller didnt want to teach history. and who would take it as history considering there are monsters every which way. you cant say a movie is bad because its not a certain type of movie.

  • I believe we did discuss it in terms of an action movie, saying it was a nice videogame--and that's hit. Historical inaccuracies aside, it is still an ineffective action pic cuz you don't care about anything that happens to anybody. That's pretty major flaw for any action movie.

  • personally, i cared a lot about the characters. this movie had all the character development it needed. it showed the brutal training these spartans have to go through, and the movie fully expresses how dedicated these soldiers are to their country. the character development is weak in every action movie.

character develipement is what happens throughout the movie to the characters, and thats what this movie is about. *defending* what you love until you *die*.

  • hellohawk should go suck terds from a four assed monkey.

  • Manowar should have done the soundtrack. It would have been a better movie.

  • see, i really didnt like sin city, but i enjoyed this movie. the dialog blew in some spots. but it is based on a comic based on an actualy even. i'm sure some things got lost in the translation.

on another note i wonder if Frank Miller is a Man-o-War fan?

  • fuck you guys, this movie was awesome
