I always read good things about this band, but several years ago, I finally picked up their anthology, "The Essential Radio Birdman (1974-1978)," and every song is this good. A truly underrated Rock & Roll machine. It's as if they wondered what would transpire if Iggy Pop joined the MC5, which actually could have happened had fate intervened. But yeah, this Rocks like a bastard.
@XDesperateRomanticX It's a reference from the mid to late 1960's or 1970's, when the city had a huge murder rate per capita.... It ain't TOO bad anymore, but Detroit is still one of the hardest cities in the USA, except maybe Newark or Baltimore....PEACE
@XDesperateRomanticX I lived there in 77 when the Outlaws motorcycle club ran terror over the place. Even the hard ass mafia dudes were scared sh!#less of them!
They recorded this cut in Detroit. Hence the Woodward Ave reference. The lead guitarist's guitar is Fred Sonic Smiths... And, yes, you will get your ass kicked in Detroit or any of the surrounding areas.

@mt111792 Is there any video footage of the band playing this song back in the day? I doubt that or it would surely have made it here by now.
I certainly appreciate the convenience of being able to find the song on here to share with new listeners.

Funny, I've lived in Detroit for years and have never gotten my ass kicked. Don't perpetuate stereotypes, sweet cheeks.

Great, I don't know if Australia has a murder city but here in the US, this brings to mind Detroit.
