  • That does not change the output power that your router is giving the antenna...

  • IF you make the copper wire Longer and or with more coiled parts, will it make it even better?

  • 2:04 boobs picture ?

  • Worked for my old DIR-300 router! Signal is 2 times better than it was with standard antenna, moreover it gives me 2-3 bars out of 5 in places where standard antenna gives 0!

I think it would be better to put dimensions in mm to the description )

  • Lol you boss

  • This video help me. wifi signal is very strong in my house now.

  • do you have Scheme or anything so i can calculate how much loops and length can be combinated (for example i want make 1meter antenna)

  • my antenna in my pc is now ultimate it boosted my signal from 2bars to 4 and my download rate is now 1.9 mbs ( i got 1gig per minuet) thanks man!!! I mean 5 min for 1 gig

  • my antenna in my pc is now ultimate it boosted my signal from 2bars to 4 and my download rate is now 1.9 mbs ( i got 1gig per minuet) thanks man!!!

  • My NETGEAR Wireless-N 150 DSL Modem Router has very little wifi cable inside and i replaced it with copper cable antenna but i did not get signal ...for longer distance....help me out.....reply please... :)

  • this actually worked, but my antenna is verrry long and has 3 coils.

  • could this be used in reverse?Like to boost the output from my wireless router?

  • @fireinmycrotch Yes.

  • @fireinmycrotch Yes, antennas are reciprocal.

  • this is cheap solution for great result

  • do you need to use coper wire or any wire?

  • INGENIOUS! Are you, by chance, a Ham Radio operator? You certainly think like one!

  • He sounds like a grown up version of Linus from the peanuts. Everything about his speech pattern.

  • MOst má a nappaliba is tudok netezni :D

  • Tried it, doesn't work! It depends on the diameter of the wire, spacing of turns, diameter of coil etc. Depending on the appliction, you can make the signal worse by messing with the aerial. It's pretuned from the factory, so best to leave it that way.

These large high gain aerials are often a con.

  • well i found no different in signal , so i make the wire 8 cm longer and :-) from 3 i take 5 bars

  • What size of wire? What size wood screw?

  • You can also put copper wire without insulation at all.

  • my router was working well and i have coverage in all places of my home but i wanted to extend the range to my friend house who lives in neighbour hood ,so i try this but have the same range not extend signals at all.

  • Tried it, the original aerial provides stronger covereage. I can only think that your measurements are out or it was a poor design you copied from. In theory it should be better, but having a colinear indoors has no advantage. You're best with a 1/4wave that will bounce the signal around the house. Take advantage of the reflected signal.

  • slick! i'm gonna try that.

you sound like the guy on the Discovery channel, how it's made program!

  • no se

  • i love u.....

  • are we allowed to use a one meter RC antenna.. my rc antenna airplane is broken so can i use that antenna?

  • There is no reason to need an antenna calculator. This is a 2.4 ghz design that is why he tells you the legnth of cable to coil. Pretty much all a, b, g should work fine. And as the video clearly states "now here is how you can easily turn a regular wireless antenna into a suuuper extender antenna"

  • thanks ...it worked for me.. a little, but it is working

  • You have a good TV voice lol. Sounds like a real commercial. Thanks a million YOU ROCK!

  • Nice Video! 5 Stars. I took my antenna from my Netgear Desktop card, did the little mod and in about 3 mins has MUCH Better signal! Thanks alot

  • It is for your wireless card NOT you router, that may be why so many are having problems

  • @panchogordo1 it doesnt matter where you put antenna pc or router

  • Does the gauge of the wire make a huge difference, if at all? I have solid core copper wire but its about 20 gauge. leave me a message or something, thanks

  • this works I was using the paper made wifi booster but i i still was not getting as good sinal as i needed. So i came across this vid and it looked simple enough and it looks alot better so i did the mod and it worked. I use to get low or very low signal and now i'm getting good and excellet this increased my range two time as much as i used to get and i did not have to spend $30-$40 on a high gain antenna.

  • it worked for me.. at first I thought it wouldn't work but now I have Very Good constantly instead of Low or Good on the signal strength meter in windows.. i used a normal wire i found that was similar to the one used here and then solded it to the antenna and gave it a few spins and thats it..

  • He said "card" as in wireless card.

  • CarD

  • Be careful doing this people, you can find antenna calculators on the net with the option to calculate different wavelengths per frequency.

Remember, a lot of them do not offer the Ghz option, so just move that decimal 3 places to the right., 2.4Ghz = 2400 Mhz. If this did not work for you you need to calculate it right, the biggest wavelength antenna may not work with a lower power device.

  • but they dont need an antenna calculator......that is an antenna for 2.4ghz what he copied off......therefore samespec

  • @UGLandrum

Are you trying to save your hide in a business? Or are you trying to through a few of us off with your dumb talk?

  • I could not get..which is the material? I mean the wire thanks!

  • My router is an Advantek AWR-MIMO. It has 3 antennas, anyone thinks it would work on my router to increase the range and connect from my laptop which doesnt have an antenna like this one?

  • yes its the same deal.

essentially, if this makes sense to you..

adding on more wire or metal of any kind will provide a contact material for signals in the air. If you are looking to project a signal stronger from your router look up wifi signal booster, if you are looking to get a better signal from your router to your computer look up wifi antenna booster.

hope that helps. oh and 3 antennas, yes u can do that to all 3 if you wish.

  • it dosnt work for me ether

  • This does not work. Why?Pleas help me

  • I would say the only difference is that the stock antenna is either a 1/2 wave antenna or a 1/4 fed against whatever the transmitter provides as a groundplane. If we assume that the stock is a 1/2 wave, then the upgrade antenna is a collinear antenna, which is a 1/2 wave over another 1/2 wave or multiple 1/2 waves over each other. When making this, I would suggest removing the insulation, because it provides capacitive reactance, changing the impedance of the antenna and detuning it.

  • I did it... it made it worse..... maby i did it wrong or something but i did it the same way as this guy did accept using the drinking straw.... maby it worked for other people but not me...

  • OK so does it work? or is does it? and would changing the length of the coil matter?

  • este video es mas falso que la bombas de destruccion masiva de bagdag

  • coat hanger wire?

  • why wouldn't this work?

  • Don't do this! At best you will end up with a ugly antenna that works about the same. Just because you can add a piece a wire to make it longer, and put a straw over it and paint it black doesnt make it the same as a store bought antenna! Wire lengths need to be cut and measured to the correct frequency. Too short or to long will just create problems.

    Stupid Video.

  • i started with a belkin antenna that looks like the one in the video and used copper wire form a old tv cable wire....just had to cut it out......i also went around the screw 8 times and it works great!!! it went from very low to very good.....thanks!!!

  • calla piruano color de neumatico

  • Tried 3 times (different wires) - all bull. The original linksys is way better.

  • poco malowac tą słomke jak mozna czarną uzyc albo koszulke termo kurczliwą czarna bardziej estetycznie

  • Umm, I think the wire I used was to thick, so I made like at least two times as big an antenna and it makes no change like the big antenna is simple an ornament to the original one.

So, you really need the small copper wire?

  • thnks but it doesnt work for me

  • its called... Wind Surfer!

  • is this a receiver antenna on a wireless card or transmitter for modem?

  • neither. it's for the router.

  • and for wireless desktop cards dount forget about them

  • OK i don't think the wire he is using is good.

the wire u need is wire like Indore home wiring. it is the same thickness as the long antenna. its expensive and u have to get 50 feet or it at home depot. so if u have a construction site going on around you go there and ask for about a foot of it. ask for the grounding wire because it doesn't have any insulation on it or u will have to strip it.(burn it off) do the same thing he did but get this kind of wire or even a little smaller.

  • the wire is cheap if you work for an electric motor factory.

  • nice i get it free to my friends a electrician and i work with him sometimes.

  • nice video thank you itc copper inside it cost 1500 usd a tonne that why they cost much this antenna wont give you too much you need an antenna like mine 270 km long range distance

  • where can i get copper wire?

  • could you do this to extend it indefinitely ? like a meter or so ?

  • No you can't.

  • I just tried it out using the same DLINK aerial! I found that in a poor reception area it give 2 bars and 18Mbps. With the original router aerial it give 4 bars and 54Mbps. So this doesn't seem to work, it effectively reduces the signal because the impedance is not matched to 50ohms correctly. This causes a high VSWR and makes the router warm up and cut out. You need to look closer at the high gain design to see the matching arrangement.

  • sooo will this work with a Xbox 360 Wireless Wifi ? ? because the antenna is short will it make my connection stronger ?

  • it doesnt work ive have gave it ago but fucked it up my wireless so i wouldnt try it....

  • i saw this a long time ago on metacafe

  • greattttttttt workkkkkkk

  • Shouldn't more wraps make it stronger? Why not wrap it around 70 times?

  • diminishing returns.... i dont understand it but um pretty sure thats why

  • It works on a principle of a colinear antenna. The coil forms part of the aerial and acts by putting the top element out of phase with the bottom. The whole aerial needs to be the correct length before any phasing coils or loading coils are added. They must also be matched for a 50ohm impedance at the base or they will be less effective than the original - as this one is!

  • This is kipkay from Metacafe.
