The perfection of Mozart's Music lives between the music style of 18th century and the taste of the singer. I think that those musical licenses and that orrible rallentato, in the end of the aria, break the balance of this amazing music.
Susan Graham is wonderful! I'm from her hometown and actually took voice lessons in high school from the same lady she studied with in high school, Ruth-Ann Griffin. I am sooooo in love with Susan Graham's voice. She is a delight in person. I went to see her sing and just wept the whole time, it was so beautiful.
The breathlessness does add a lot to the character of confused pubescent boy, but it' kind of disappointing in such a great song to miss out on some of the beautiful runs. Then again, I really like Susan Graham, so I don't mind that much.
Could you please post Marcellina and Susanna's duet please? (and Marcellina's aria if they included it?) Susan Graham is great! I saw her during the summer doing a program of French Art Songs! Bliss!
Thanks! I have that entire recording. It's amazing. Susan Grahams voice fits perfectly with a baroque orchestra. Pity she doesn't seem to sing too much early music except for Dido and Handel's Ariodante
This is the best version I found on YouTube.
Unlike other singers, Susan Graham is persuasive as a lustful teenage boy.
All the others look like drag-kings...

I upload the video as fast as I can :) I also deeply love Susan Graham... I just found a video where she's singing Dido's lament from Purcell. Wow.
