@zesusdk true France significantly outnumbered the British. by about a third I think, the solution to which was careful alliances with the weaker European powers to spit Frances forces and a variety of novel tactics. This was especially prominent at sea where large French squadrons were often defeated by much smaller British forces. Concerning Americans, the frigates they had used much heaver than the normal armament. more like a third rate. Plus, France was never the same after defeat in Russia

The Thirteen achieved independence not because of some Americans but because many British rivals including the Kingdom of France, Spain and the Dutch Republic. Add to this that Britain's troops were spread across the world meaning reinforcing colonies wasn't really an option.
So really it wasn't the "Americans" that won the war rather Britain's lack of military presence in the colonies and Britain's rivals.

@Youtubitiano No, thats the problem with the US. The British went along colonizing as they went. They set up democratic governments and societies. The US just goes along attempting to set up governments but then when the government is set up they pull out all of their forces.

@JuanMacready bull. civilized? no. The spanish civilized teh majoority of teh new world, and india was already a thriving area. The americans didnt have help from as many countries as you think. They only recived supplies from Spain. Thats it. The British fighting in America recived supplies from he dutch so that cancels each other out. The Americans did recive help from teh French, but even with teh help, the Americans were out numbered. IF you still refuse to belive it, emember 1812

@TheFifanacho Many countries of the Empire still use British customs and democracy.
France, Spain and the Dutch Republic were all supplying guns, ammunition and food to the colonists from the spring of 1776. The British received NO supplies from the Dutch.
Remember 1812? Oh yes, that war which ended on much more favourable terms for Britain and Canada. I liked the Burning of Washington DC which was done in retaliation for the Americans burning Toronto.
