Eh, this is irrelevant for anyone with a decent car that has ABS, slotted/cross-drilled rotors, carbon-ceramic brakes, and wide/sticky tires. Taking 21ft to slow down from 35-30mph is just utterly pathetic. It only takes me ~25ft for the entire 30-0....
The guy's also a dumbass for locking up his brakes like that...
The biggest fallacy of this crap is that if the driver were paying better attention, he would have avoided the accident altogether. Also, to hit someone at 30 mph, you initially were probably traveling 55+ because of the braking.
No, 21ft extra at 5mph extra. The kinetic energy of a vehicle is proportional to the square of the speed - Ek = (mv^2)/2 (SI Units). Meaning going at 30 mph gives you an energy 88.9 times the mass of your vehicle. Going at 35, 121 times.
And for those idiots who go 60mph/96kph, 356 times.
People keep commenting on how its the childs fault. Drivers must be alert at all times and prepared for situations like so and wether or not you could have avoided it or not it still pays to have seen the person before impact considering it adds some time for reaction and decreases the amount of distance it would take you to stop. :P
Stupid ad. There is nothing wrong with exceeding the posted limit if the limit is too low for conditions. Well, except that the misinformed police and nanny state will get you for it. Driving too fast for conditions is whats wrong.
Powerful PSA. I wish we had something like these in the USA. but then there'd be an uproar over the fact that the advert shows a kid getting hit by a car.
oh shut up all of you it is both of thier faults the kid should have looked before going and the person should not have been speeding its as simple as that.
speeding in my eyes is acceptable but ONLY when appropriate. for example i would never speed in built up areas as its just not worth it. whats the point in driving like a cunt to hit someone and lose your licence.
Braking power is nearly always biased towards the front of the car, because if the rear wheels were to lock, the rear end could slide and the driver would have absolutely no control at all. So for all you or I know, the rear brakes on this car could have been working just fine. However there is one thing that could have helped reduce the stopping distiance in this situation, and that is ABS.
"Braking power is nearly always biased towards the front of the car..."
Actually they are always biased towards the front, because that's where the weight is transferred, and that's where they are most effective.
We can see ABS wasn't in play, and we can see the rear wheel still spinning when the car is virtually stopped. So the rear brakes weren't working!! Unless you are suggesting the rear had ABS, but not the front.
Where are the parents ? why has this kid not been told about road safety ?
The bottom line is car owners pay millions in tax for the road system, in effect we own the roads, pedestrians should be greatful they have a pavement to walk on... they should show some respect for cars.... also i think predestrians should have to have insurance to pay for the damage they cause to cars and maybe the psychological damage drivers suffer as well...
@raider1400 are you such a fucking idiot?! when it means 30mph then you have to drive 30 mph not faster! and wtf do you mean with an insurance for pedestrians for pay damage on the cars?! such an idiot like you are i have never seen... sorry but please eat your driving license! if you have one.
Well a few yrs back some old b**ch walked out in front of me in a 40zone in rush hr traffic (despite there being a crossing 100ft away). it was almost three yrs before i got the money out of her for the damage to my motorbike, hence why i said pedestrians should have to have insurance...
ok in part you´re right and sorry for my hrad words -.- but it´s not only the pedestrians who make accidents. a few years ago my sister died in an accident sche walked over the street and such a f...ing idiot drives at 30 km/h zone with about 120 km/h. he had to give the driving license for 1 month get 4 points in flensburg an about 250euro bill to pay. and thats it? sorry but.... fuck!!! whoever means the pedestrations are the bad on street. so you understand my anger?
Had the child not have been tearing around in the street like a cunt. He wouldn't have been hit. This is the parents fault. Not the driver. This is why you need to lock the little shit in the cupboard. It's for their own safety.
Whether or not it was the kids fault for running in the road the driver shouldn't be speeding. I just got a ticket this morning for speeding and this video has opened my eyes. so screw you guys who don't take this shit seriously!
It wan't the speeding that caused the kid to get hit, it was the driver stomping on the brakes. If he wouldn't have locked up the brakes he would have stopped.
Well why the fuck wasn't that kid looking both ways before crossing?! Didn't his fucking parents teach him better than that?!
Not even using the crosswalk. I say, we work so hard to protect the dumb people and allowing them to breed, when we should be like "nature" and letting the dumb ones die off.
Now, I am not calling the kid dumb and saying he should die, it is just that this made me think about other people and other laws in effect to protect those who have no common sense.
Think about this one. My brother is mentally disabled, and had no sense of danger. He'd run out into the road, regardless of whether a car is coming or not, without a thought for his own safety, because his brain told him to. It's wasn't his fault, and there's nothing he could do about it. My family has taught him about danger, now that he's a bit older, but he still has the mind of a 10 yr old,and he's 15 in 2 weeks. There's no need for speed.
True, but even more vs There's no Need for Speed. There is also no need to run out in the middle of the road either. However you have given me something to think about. I have been known to speed on streets, but at the same time, I am overly paranoid that something would happen to my car, damage wise.
It would be wise yo go slow and be cautious when driving on a street where kids would be roaming around. Most kids don't pay attention to traffic to know any better and some parents don't know how to control their kids.
...a good driver is the one who thinks that the others may be absent minded, namely children...those who have hit a finger with a hammer know what I'm talking about - why didn't they move the finger out of the way ???...
Shouldn't an adult in a car have a more mature, less "im invincible" outlook than a kid? Or are you functioning at the brain power of a 10 year old still? Grow up. Kids do stupid shit and you were no different. Adults have no excuse.
YOU STUPID YOU THINK THAT CAUSE YOUT FATHERS A COP YOU WILL NOT BE PUNISHED Whell, if that happens in US i dont know what to think... Whell THINK you even rote
i like to drive when i drive
it should be i like to drive when i am drunk!!
stupid!! think!!
so u dont mind if u kill someone !!
you are really cruel that guy dead could be a kid ...
i think the moment someone suddenly steps onto the road, you don't have much time to react and pump the brakes. You just apply the brakes as hard as you can - trying to stop your car. Look at the wikipedia article (Anti-lock braking system), there's more information 'bout that.
I know what ABS does, and yeah you would slam your brakes on straight away if you saw someone jump out in front of you, but as soon as you feel it skid or about to skid you would take your foot off and pump the brake, I know I would because I've had to. But also this video is stupid the driver is miles away from the kid at the begining of the clip and if he was watching the road and pedestrians around him he would've been more aware of the kid and the football.
Because most people don't think 'oh, I'll pump the brakes' most people undergo the mentality of 'brakes on, stay on'. Most people aren't even aware of their brakes locking up because their mind goes blank. That's why most people are always confused after hitting someone, as they don't remember. Judging by the speed and the distance involved, pumping the brake would have had little/no effect. They did what they were told to do in their driving test; we can't blame them for it.
yeah looking at the distance it could have stopped decently but dumb driving put it into a skid and thats what did it might as well have done a handbrake turn stupidness
is not the speed is just bad driving i mean look at the point from braking to stopping ive done 40 right at a stationary car as i accelerate like a mad man and stopped instantly and was in full control plus theres handbrake as an alternative if all fails but this car looks like it braked with the engine at high revs without ingaging the clutch but theres just something wrong with that car as in my eyes its impossible unless you cant drive
Actually they give you 10% allowance for speedo error plus 2 mph which equates to 5 mph only at 30. But only assuming you have a police callibrated speedo. Those with production models can't rely on speedo accuracy, so only have a 2mph tolerence, because your speedo can be legally reading 30mph while your doing 33mph! - now the 10% +2mph is when you get the ticket so without the 10% and hitting the 2mph gets you the ticket so in reality you only have a 1mph margin for error!
5 mph makes a big difference? that's trivial in so many ways. Weather conditions apply. Most people with a normal mind dont speed excessively in neighbourhoods. I speed on highways but not in places filled with pedestrians where traffic can come at me from different angles. Speeding tickets are a business that has made over 50 million in Ontario province Canada ( 1 year!!)
It's business plain and simple for the government and insurance companies.
toonarmy52000... you have a stupid ass tunning drive way of thinking,.. just get oofff!!! grow up! 35MP/H are almost 60KM/H here... 60km/h is a fuckin abuse in roads with a lot of ppl movement (like this case)... when guys like you start to get more attention to OTHERS.. the killing cases on the road will reduce..
I'm 10 years old and I have more common sense. And I catergorise myself as a kid, thank you very much. I knew when I was 4 years old not to play in the fucking traffic.
the kid would have been spotted and this wouldnt have happened toys do accidently go flying into roads though and the kids reaction is to chace it and they dont think they just jump out in the middle of flowing traffic is parents fault really for not checking maturity and road sence with the child before leaving them unattended at low speed kids go under cars at higher they bounce off them both have there high risks its a road we cant drive at 1mph else whats the point might aswel ride bikes
would have been cheaper to put barriers up on all roads in built up areas so people can only cross at proper crossings but the problem with this is that it dosnt make money or benifit the govs in anyway so they will contnue to attack those who enjoy driving because its profitable nothing to do with safty at all its about intrests so its always the drivers fault i was brought up near a railway if anything went on it i had to leave it life isnt worth loosing over something made in china :)
im just blabbering on :) with the cost of these campaigns speed cameras and changing the law they could have done something constructve that would have worked im just stating the obvious really but yeah this is the nutty uk where sence dosnt apply your right with the things you say but there not intrested about the truth its about acceptance of speeding fines and making drivers pay it threw guilt and it works same with smokers they pay really heavy taxes and dont mind cos there guilty heh
Have you ever thought that the parent might not be watching? What if there were talking to someone. You can't blame the child's parents.
The driver was who was speeding. How can you blame the pedestrians when the driver was speeding. And you add smokers and taxes? That has nothing to do with this video. This video is telling you to slow down and think. What you are doing now is being stupid and blaming an innocent person. Slow and steady wins the race. Go learn.
and its nothing to do with the brakes, because once the brakes have fully locked its the TYRES that are at fault whihc this clip shows the car obviosuly doesnt have good grip on tyres
pedestrians have the right of way has long has there is more then 60 feet between you and the vehicle if you step out right in front of a car you will probably have to pay the damages to the car if you get hit
that car didnt have ABS system and i stop way before then if i drove that fast also ABS in not on that car thats why it stop and hit that kid who is stupid
35 in a 30 does make a difference, you twats. You loose your license for a start if speed-trapped. And, if you hit someone at 35 instead of 30, the chances of them living more than halve. No matter what you say about 'modern cars being better', why risk it? Speed limits are there for a reason.
Speeding doesn't make you look cool or any of that crap. At the end of the day, if you hit someone, two lives end. Thiers, and yours.
did you know that the current, most up to date stopping distance stats, found in the highway code resemble the morris minor.
Lets list things that my car has that will allow it to stop in half the distance whilst going 20% faster:
ABS
traction control
disc brakes
wide wheels with modern tyres for better grip
For the record, I am describing a 5 year old renault clio. The cars we drive today can handle speeding and braking better than the highway code states. posted speed limits are wrong.
Its not about who fault it is. No one is listening and obviously some people don't agree with pure circumstance!! Fact of the matter is, and yes the kid was crossing the street in wrong place, I agree BUT the driver was breaking the speed limit!!!! FACT!! B all END all!! The driver was breaking the law. Slow down is the simple message. No need to over analyze it.
The most up to date figures, which are used to make this advert, are based on the morris minor. If your car was built after 1998, chances are it has ABS, disc brakes on the front at least and wider wheels. Every single car sold today can stop from 50 in the same distance that the highway code says you should take to stop from 30.
Im not saying drive at 50 everywhere, im saying that 35 in a 30 makes no difference, the government is working with 1950s figures in the 21st century.
I think this is a form of terrorism. Its not safe to drive anymore, or walk on the streets, or live your life like you want to. Learn to fucking drive its really not that hard.
Who cares, kids that play in the road, this is jsut thinning the heard. Parents that won't keep an eye on their children, teach them to cross the road properly, etc, deserve to have their children killed.
Sometimes kids get away from you. They're squirmy. Are you going to be that parent walking your toddler around on a leash? Accidents happen to good people. Also, kids don't deserve to die. Only teenagers.
insaneinferno21, its that stupid kids problem. You see all this videos of people speeding, however if people were not so freaking stupid and look both ways before crossing the street then you are set for life
abs would not have reduced the braking distance, locking up in dry conditions creates additional heat and so friction aiding rapid deceleration. ABS is really, really useful in the wet, but is of no advantage in the dry. By the way if the car had been doing 30mph it would have stopped level with the dogs nose !
Pipple you speak utter rubbish. ABS dramatically shortens breaking distance as without it a wheel locks up causing the rubber to melt and thus the wheel to glide across the hot surface area - much like melting butter across the surface of a frying pan.
I suggest you get some basic science under your belt before you post things like this - they are potentially very dangerous bits of misinformation.
Edski my boy, trust me the utter rubbish is your analogy to butter and melting rubber - do your research; check out what actually happens at the interface between the rubber (which both tears and melts with the emphasis on the former) which has a significant impact on the coefficient of friction. By the way I have a double first in Tribology.
Absolutely. A car with ABS (which most are these days) would not have skidded its front wheels and would therefore have stopped much earlier than that ad is making out.
what gets me is shouldnt people watch where they are going. that boy could of seen that car comming. dont us drivers have enough to worry about. the road is the drivers and the pavement( sidewalk) is for people and OAPs
yea he did hence why he slammed his brakes on. You cant do much if a kid steps on the road while your quiet near. if the kid stepped out on the road a little earlier then he might have stopped in time. but if the driver was going at 30 and the kid stepped out on the raod a little later he would have still been hit.
There was a french advert for safety on roads, it was very shocking and unfortunately it was still not enough because people always think they won't crash...
He deserved it. Fucking little retard

it was very fast....the driver didn't have the necesary time to pump the brakes....whatever it's unbeliving....
dunarea2008 2 years ago
Why didn't the driver, pump his brakes, thats what most normal drivers would do if you don't have ABS thus slowing him down much quicker.
01oelliott 2 years ago
i think the moment someone suddenly steps onto the road, you don't have much time to react and pump the brakes. You just apply the brakes as hard as you can - trying to stop your car. Look at the wikipedia article (Anti-lock braking system), there's more information 'bout that.
deaagegoe 2 years ago
I know what ABS does, and yeah you would slam your brakes on straight away if you saw someone jump out in front of you, but as soon as you feel it skid or about to skid you would take your foot off and pump the brake, I know I would because I've had to. But also this video is stupid the driver is miles away from the kid at the begining of the clip and if he was watching the road and pedestrians around him he would've been more aware of the kid and the football.
01oelliott 2 years ago
Because most people don't think 'oh, I'll pump the brakes' most people undergo the mentality of 'brakes on, stay on'. Most people aren't even aware of their brakes locking up because their mind goes blank. That's why most people are always confused after hitting someone, as they don't remember. Judging by the speed and the distance involved, pumping the brake would have had little/no effect. They did what they were told to do in their driving test; we can't blame them for it.
WolfyTiger 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure when you learning to drive, if you start to skid, you're told to pump your brakes, or was that just me.
01oelliott 2 years ago
yeah looking at the distance it could have stopped decently but dumb driving put it into a skid and thats what did it might as well have done a handbrake turn stupidness
xfantafoox 2 years ago
is not the speed is just bad driving i mean look at the point from braking to stopping ive done 40 right at a stationary car as i accelerate like a mad man and stopped instantly and was in full control plus theres handbrake as an alternative if all fails but this car looks like it braked with the engine at high revs without ingaging the clutch but theres just something wrong with that car as in my eyes its impossible unless you cant drive
xfantafoox 2 years ago
but the goverment give you 5 over the limit in the UK and I think US
LOOPYMOOCOW 2 years ago
Actually they give you 10% allowance for speedo error plus 2 mph which equates to 5 mph only at 30. But only assuming you have a police callibrated speedo. Those with production models can't rely on speedo accuracy, so only have a 2mph tolerence, because your speedo can be legally reading 30mph while your doing 33mph! - now the 10% +2mph is when you get the ticket so without the 10% and hitting the 2mph gets you the ticket so in reality you only have a 1mph margin for error!
Damien152uk 2 years ago
5 mph makes a big difference? that's trivial in so many ways. Weather conditions apply. Most people with a normal mind dont speed excessively in neighbourhoods. I speed on highways but not in places filled with pedestrians where traffic can come at me from different angles. Speeding tickets are a business that has made over 50 million in Ontario province Canada ( 1 year!!)
It's business plain and simple for the government and insurance companies.
Chindro2828 2 years ago
i think its safe to say that its both the driver and the twat wondering in the roads fault.
yaminduh 2 years ago
stay out the fucking road then, i cant even begin to tell you how many dick heads have just walked/ran out in front of my bike without looking.
If THINK wana do something good, why not do another one warning people about not looking rather than speeding?
toonarmy52000 2 years ago 6
toonarmy52000... you have a stupid ass tunning drive way of thinking,.. just get oofff!!! grow up! 35MP/H are almost 60KM/H here... 60km/h is a fuckin abuse in roads with a lot of ppl movement (like this case)... when guys like you start to get more attention to OTHERS.. the killing cases on the road will reduce..
ogpakika15 2 years ago
Also, I would like to point out, there is another advert from Think! saying 'if you hit me at 30 mph, there is an 80% chance I'll live.'
I would like to know what speed drivers are meant to be going at once and for all.
x3JordanJubilantx3 2 years ago
Its the drivers fault?
Someone should teach the damn kid not to play football in the road.
And how come no-one stopped him? Isn't it the parents fault for teaching him to stay away from roads?
Yes, the driver was speeding but the kid shouldn't of been in the road.
The man should of got a sentence, but not as big. What are the chances of him hitting someone if that kid hadn't of been playing in the road?
In my opinion: OWNED.
x3JordanJubilantx3 2 years ago
*not teaching him to stay away from roads
x3JordanJubilantx3 2 years ago
The child was not playing football. He was walking across the street.
Decembirth 2 years ago
Then why did I, and a lot of other people, see him kicking a ball about in the road?
x3JordanJubilantx3 2 years ago
?
I see a boy carrying a bag and (what looks like) a ball, and the bag and ball flew up as he was hit.
Of course he shouldn't be walking in the middle of the street. But he most certainly isn't playing in the street.
Decembirth 2 years ago 2
read your own written words...he was just a "kid." What the fuck do you want.
Kikilea1438 2 years ago
I'm 10 years old and I have more common sense. And I catergorise myself as a kid, thank you very much. I knew when I was 4 years old not to play in the fucking traffic.
x3JordanJubilantx3 2 years ago
the kid would have been spotted and this wouldnt have happened toys do accidently go flying into roads though and the kids reaction is to chace it and they dont think they just jump out in the middle of flowing traffic is parents fault really for not checking maturity and road sence with the child before leaving them unattended at low speed kids go under cars at higher they bounce off them both have there high risks its a road we cant drive at 1mph else whats the point might aswel ride bikes
xfantafoox 2 years ago 3
dude? thats exacly what i said....
and im a kid and if a toy went into the road i wouldn't go chasing it without looking...
x3JordanJubilantx3 2 years ago 3
would have been cheaper to put barriers up on all roads in built up areas so people can only cross at proper crossings but the problem with this is that it dosnt make money or benifit the govs in anyway so they will contnue to attack those who enjoy driving because its profitable nothing to do with safty at all its about intrests so its always the drivers fault i was brought up near a railway if anything went on it i had to leave it life isnt worth loosing over something made in china :)
xfantafoox 2 years ago 3
i didn't say anything about that. what does that have to do with anything? your just confusing me more.
x3JordanJubilantx3 2 years ago
im just blabbering on :) with the cost of these campaigns speed cameras and changing the law they could have done something constructve that would have worked im just stating the obvious really but yeah this is the nutty uk where sence dosnt apply your right with the things you say but there not intrested about the truth its about acceptance of speeding fines and making drivers pay it threw guilt and it works same with smokers they pay really heavy taxes and dont mind cos there guilty heh
xfantafoox 2 years ago
Hm.
Do you have a brain?
Have you ever thought that the parent might not be watching? What if there were talking to someone. You can't blame the child's parents.
The driver was who was speeding. How can you blame the pedestrians when the driver was speeding. And you add smokers and taxes? That has nothing to do with this video. This video is telling you to slow down and think. What you are doing now is being stupid and blaming an innocent person. Slow and steady wins the race. Go learn.
CJKoda 2 years ago
and its nothing to do with the brakes, because once the brakes have fully locked its the TYRES that are at fault whihc this clip shows the car obviosuly doesnt have good grip on tyres

Nickkyboy36 2 years ago
pedestrians have the right of way has long has there is more then 60 feet between you and the vehicle if you step out right in front of a car you will probably have to pay the damages to the car if you get hit
lastasexual 2 years ago
Thats not true. Pedestrians only have right of way when using a crossing. Roads are for cars, people pay to use those roads, they have right of way

JacobAndrade1 3 years ago

doglove1227 3 years ago
35 in a 30 does make a difference, you twats. You loose your license for a start if speed-trapped. And, if you hit someone at 35 instead of 30, the chances of them living more than halve. No matter what you say about 'modern cars being better', why risk it? Speed limits are there for a reason.
Speeding doesn't make you look cool or any of that crap. At the end of the day, if you hit someone, two lives end. Thiers, and yours.

If the government was using braking statistics from this century, the car would have stopped here. [child walks away fine].
5mph over takes an extra 21ft to stop. But halve the official braking distance and you have some idea of how outdated the government is.
gloucesterharry 3 years ago 3
did you know that the current, most up to date stopping distance stats, found in the highway code resemble the morris minor.
Lets list things that my car has that will allow it to stop in half the distance whilst going 20% faster:
ABS
traction control
disc brakes
wide wheels with modern tyres for better grip
For the record, I am describing a 5 year old renault clio. The cars we drive today can handle speeding and braking better than the highway code states. posted speed limits are wrong.

ajdo1991 3 years ago
Its not about who fault it is. No one is listening and obviously some people don't agree with pure circumstance!! Fact of the matter is, and yes the kid was crossing the street in wrong place, I agree BUT the driver was breaking the speed limit!!!! FACT!! B all END all!! The driver was breaking the law. Slow down is the simple message. No need to over analyze it.
flappyflapps 3 years ago 3
The most up to date figures, which are used to make this advert, are based on the morris minor. If your car was built after 1998, chances are it has ABS, disc brakes on the front at least and wider wheels. Every single car sold today can stop from 50 in the same distance that the highway code says you should take to stop from 30.
Im not saying drive at 50 everywhere, im saying that 35 in a 30 makes no difference, the government is working with 1950s figures in the 21st century.

AKCzech555 3 years ago 2
Who cares, kids that play in the road, this is jsut thinning the heard. Parents that won't keep an eye on their children, teach them to cross the road properly, etc, deserve to have their children killed.
Polybun 3 years ago
Sometimes kids get away from you. They're squirmy. Are you going to be that parent walking your toddler around on a leash? Accidents happen to good people. Also, kids don't deserve to die. Only teenagers.

lolgay i'm glad that kid is dead
lucy12021991 3 years ago
I would have to agree with
insaneinferno21, its that stupid kids problem. You see all this videos of people speeding, however if people were not so freaking stupid and look both ways before crossing the street then you are set for life
iareawesome 3 years ago
that kid was a moron for running out into the street like that... forget your abs and braking distance qualms
insaneinferno21 3 years ago
abs would not have reduced the braking distance, locking up in dry conditions creates additional heat and so friction aiding rapid deceleration. ABS is really, really useful in the wet, but is of no advantage in the dry. By the way if the car had been doing 30mph it would have stopped level with the dogs nose !
pipple44 3 years ago
Pipple you speak utter rubbish. ABS dramatically shortens breaking distance as without it a wheel locks up causing the rubber to melt and thus the wheel to glide across the hot surface area - much like melting butter across the surface of a frying pan.
I suggest you get some basic science under your belt before you post things like this - they are potentially very dangerous bits of misinformation.
Edski70 3 years ago 2
Edski my boy, trust me the utter rubbish is your analogy to butter and melting rubber - do your research; check out what actually happens at the interface between the rubber (which both tears and melts with the emphasis on the former) which has a significant impact on the coefficient of friction. By the way I have a double first in Tribology.

Maybe the saloon that was used in the commericial was old thats why it bumped the kid.
brianafuang 3 years ago
Absolutely. A car with ABS (which most are these days) would not have skidded its front wheels and would therefore have stopped much earlier than that ad is making out.

what gets me is shouldnt people watch where they are going. that boy could of seen that car comming. dont us drivers have enough to worry about. the road is the drivers and the pavement( sidewalk) is for people and OAPs
helix254 3 years ago
It was a fucking kid...dipshit driver...the damn car driver should have seen the kid walking across the street!
joshdm2006 3 years ago
yea he did hence why he slammed his brakes on. You cant do much if a kid steps on the road while your quiet near. if the kid stepped out on the road a little earlier then he might have stopped in time. but if the driver was going at 30 and the kid stepped out on the raod a little later he would have still been hit.
